Hmm, though I like a lot of Terran players in Korea...that's inevitably still a lot of TvTs. No wonder this mirror has evolved so wonderfully, there's so much of it to play. Sort of feel like part of the struggle with PvP and ZvZ is the lack of experience in the matchup for some players. ZvZ especially, that's starting to get some kooky stuff.
Also:
Group A - MVP + Clide Group B - Ryung + Bomber Group C - Nestea + MMA Group D - Zenio + HuK Group E - Ganzi + Losira Group F - Jjakji + Happy Group G - Polt + DRG Group I - TOP + aLive
Ro16 = 11 T + 4 Z + 1 P
Sorry Protoss, if I wasn't a little HuK fan-ish I might say 0 P, since I totally wouldn't put it past Virus and asd to 1-1-1 annnd they're actually good players. Hongun and Genius do have some chance to advance, given the proximity of skill level within those groups, but even ignoring playable race, Killer and Puzzle might be the weakest players in their groups. That's a shame, because I like both Killer and Puzzle but couldn't care less if Hongun or Genius advanced =/ I'll be pleasantly surprised if more than 1 protoss advances in GSL, that's the level of expectation I've come to for Code S.

Jeez, there's some really difficult groups to predict and some super Terran heavy first few groups. There's going to be a number of big names and favorite players in the up and downs from this season, egad.
|
Oh yeah, and terran is completely balanced by the way.

Was really entertaining to watch this time around, will definately tune in.

It would not be too much of an upset if every group (but F) had a terran go down to up/downs.

I agree. It's almost like it was planned this way: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=265855

20 terran in a pool of 32. Looks like I have some extra free time in October.

I lol'd so hard at that pic.

man, these guys really have moxie in group selection... groups B and C could easily be the quarterfinals roster.
also, hope ensnare finally goes down to code a but knowing him, he'll scrape up another win.

I feared MC all the time cuz he would make stupid picks thinking he has 100% chance of advancing but then loses and all the favorites/champions get eliminated early, and then you have stupid finals (NesTea vs inca) or TvT galore.
Tl;dr. I am happy MC isn't going to be screwing this season. I want a good Blizzcon GSL finals. Wait, when you say that MVP 1/1/1ed MC, you do realize that he didn't all-in him, right? As Terrans are we just not allowed to build a Barracks, then a Factory, and then a Starport without being horrible people. Plus, even if he had beaten MC with a 1/1/1, it's a really strong timing that's basically all-in. Didn't MC pretty much make his fame off of 1 or 2 base builds like that (4 Gate, 6 Gate, 3 Gate Void).
Also, why does everybody hate on TvT. It's such an interesting match-up to watch (though it can be boring at times) because there's so many different openings. Plus, what's cooler than watching massive amounts of Battlecruisers, Vikings, and Ravens?

He just said it wouldn't be as entertaining without MC and for some reason you decide to aggressively explain why he isn't there. Also everybody "hates" on TvT because it's all we see. If there were 20 protoss players in Code S everyone would complain about pvp.

Finally, a short and sweet post.
I love the tidbits part.

Christ, with 20 terrans in the lague, I don't see myself watching alot of code S this time around. First time I'm passing on buying a ticket.

Same here. I've bought every season since 1 but I'd rather watch paint dry than watch this much TvT.

Just watched this now with the Jinro thing. This is stupid. They haven't told him a rule, then he's punished by the rule?
Glad they allowed it to takeback. But that was silly. Fun to watch though, I find those group selection matches generally 90% boring, but watch anyway for the 10%. Glad I caught that, most of the rest was boring though lol.

You're stupid. MC picked MVP because he wanted to ensure he didn't get too far that season so MC could overtake him in points to be invited for the blizzcon tournament with Nestea. Given MVP's questionable TvP in the past, MC probably thought he could take him. As I'm sure many others did as well.

As I'm sure many others did as well. this is a good argument, but still: everybody who saw mvps stellar form at mlg knew that it was a rather stupid idea to pick him for the first round. in addition, general matchup prowess doesnt matter as much as it normally does when the race possesses a superstrong and well-developed all-in that gives them a high chance of winning if executed right. and that mvp is able to execute it right was a given. generally speaking, it was not wise at that time for a protoss to intentionally pick terrans, and particularly not one of the most skilled terrans out there.
