Actually Grubby would be an amazing pick for so many reasons. Still not entirely sure how he compares with most pros as far as skill goes, but he has tons of name value, entertainment value and nostalgia value. Then again, there are so many potential amazing picks. I agree on this, gief Grubby to make it even more perfect! Will show up to specatate on this tourney anyhow cause its just great every time;) but still, gief Grubby!

I don't "get" most of the invites atm, there seems to be like no logic behind some of them? But well... This will be awesome anyway .
Just so i can look like a retard if they do good, i highly question TLO/Tyler/Destiny and to a lesser extend DDE (but he did good in the last one so i understand that ).

so many invitationals and so little open tournies

This is biggest price pool on this even and invites are SHOCK! i mean this players are like top 50? not saying about Socke or Dimaga but we are missing alot of good players Nerchio Mana Whitera Kas Bratok Stephano Goody Sjow Lucifrom Strelok Ret Hasu Tod and like milion more who are better then these ones and deserves much more this money
Anyway, i cant change anything just saying my view.

If you are going to have an 8-man invitational this is the way to go about it imo. If it's about simply skill you shouldn't have an invitational in the first place. Also you can "deserve" money for a whole lot of other reasons than pure skill. TB is obviously focusing on providing a viewer experience that are more entertaining rather than soly focused on the skills of the players. If you want that there is plenty of other tournaments for that and not every tournament have to be alike.

Other than the top 2 invites, the rest are fine.
Yes, TLO and Destiny may not be the best players ever but in a non-sponsered tournament with such a huge prize pool, everything comes from the viewer ad.
Destiny and TLO fans bring thousands of extra viewers, and by playing they are supporting the tournament.
Whether you like it or not, that's just how the world works.

There's like 10 different weekly open tournaments + extras not sure if you're serious.

Really like the invite list thus far, and a 5k prize pool is pretty big for an online tourney. Hope it goes well.

The invites are great and i think we will have another entertaining tournament with loads of awesome matches.
Thank you TB for all the hard work making this possible!

What this good man said.
Also, many of the players pluto mentioned were in SCI 1 and 2. While I'd love to see them again in a future SCI I think it's way more interesting to mix it up a bit. As long as it makes for a good show, everything is well.
And there is no doubt that every single player in the SCI3 lineup is good. It's not even debatable.
|
Also the fact that it is Bo5 in itself makes the games more interesting. The players can allow themselves to "try something".

GL. some of the players mentioned were in previous SCIs. others could simply not be available. IdrA is the only one that isn't and won't be invited because of his . . . issues.

I would argue that the logic is that TB is just inviting players he finds hot at moment, and/or just like. I would guess that he also wants to give players who aren't always in the spotlight, the chance to shine.
Anyways like the mix in lineup, gonna be awesum!

Not the best players, but def very fun ones to watch:D cant wait

Well, for intricacys sake i would hope he doesn't pick players he finds "hot" :p
I think TB is specifically looking for players that didn't get a lot of exposure lately but have a lot of promise and tend to not play just to win but prefer to show good games. He knows that we don't want games of the GSL Finals type.
TLO: Health-related slump but known for... well, no need to explain: it's TLO. Tyler: (Depression-related?) slump but was really innovative with his fast 2/2 upgrade timing attack, laying the foundation for a lot of PvT strategies that were developed since then. Destiny: Very creative Infestor play but didn't have tournament success. Socke: Great european protoss but didn't have a lot of exposure before the SCi2. DDE: Really great player with excellent micro but is not in a lot of tournaments.

Yup, what Morfildur said. But..

This puzzles the hell out of me. I mean, it's true that he hasn't had a lot of exposure but Socke has always been there, and more often than not in the absolute top and if not always beating at least taking games off the most well known players in the scene. The only time people mentioned Socke, until just recently, was in conjunction with his epic Desert Oasis game vs Jinro. Guess it might be because he's never been at the forefront of innovative play, or outspoken in the same sense that a lot of other, very famous, players.
Oh well. Better late than never I guess.

Half of those players have been in an SCI before and we do not invite based purely on skill or ranking. That's not what an invitational is all about, especially not this one.

More Liquids! Awesome!

It seems as if the invites are just based on popularity. Dunno, I'd like to see really good players but then again they'd be crushing most of the invites.
