This is ridiculous Exactly my thoughts... Unlike terrans, protoss players seem to have stopped doing the one base all ins or early pressure, allowing zergs to start with three bases (?), droning up to 60+ drones in the first few minutes. I totally cannot understand this trend. Ret was playing the same style few months ago and was blown away in Korea by early pàressure, always overdroning being his doom and now the same style reaps rewards. And please don't tell me how much he has improved - Ret has always been a macro beast, looks like his time has come. I can't make a 4 gate work against Zerg in Master league, so I've great doubts that it will ever work at this level. Protoss simply can't put pressure on the Zerg, and Zerg have figured out that these voidray/phoenixes harass were easily shut down by a few spore crawlers. So what can you do as Protoss ? Random timing pushes still occasionaly work though. Sad thing is that they it relies entirely on Zerg mistakes. Btw with the exception of MLG (dominated by Korean Terrans), every recent tournaments have been won by Zerg: GSL code S, WCG China, Assembly, now blizzcon, and btw one of the finalist of the current GO4SC2 is a Zerg as well (second might also be Zerg). And the most depressing is that you can't blame the infestors for that... It's more due to the fact that Zerg players learned how to use their lategame units and repell the timing pushes... That's what I have been saying for months now, only difference is I think the lack of 1 base play for P against zerg comes from the warpgate nerf(4 gate) which was the only real 1 base play you could do against zerg
Problem is that Z have learned about positioning and micro so all warpgate pushes are useless now.

Consistently not winning XD

How is playing well consistently bad? Think about that? I'm pretty sure he doesn't mean consistently plays the same build, which would be bad. I'd rather have a player who plays well more often than someone who goes up and down. This is turning into a major circlejerk.

damn T-Zain looks so dissappointed :'(

=D indeed. Clide is also much more consistent than MVP.
But of course clide is best player ever.

Well, Ret is on fire right now. IdrA not as much. A IdrA at his best may well be better than Ret, but right now I feel that Ret edges him.
Edit: Think a best foreign Zerg could be
1) Sen. 2) Ret. 3) IdrA. 4) DiMaga. 5) Sheth.

So what counts as relevant tournaments now? Tournaments played within the last 2 weeks? Stop acting silly. Idra has had no events to play outside of MLG and 1 other in the past month. Also he won IPL Season 1 and has good Chances to win the 2nd Season aswell. Yeah, he beat an invite-only American tournament :D gz How is that any different from Ret winning this tournament? I think his point is besides IdrA there aren't that many good Americans, atleast in the IPL and that there are quite a lot of good Europeans, I guess? ye idra said in several interviews that the competition in EU is way better that the competition in US

European invitational... prizemoney in dollars..
what.

Sen. And dimaga. And IdrA Not by recent showing, but do we have to bring IdrA up every time a zerg player wins? Come on. I don't think it's too offensive to bring up IdrA. Speaking of foreign Zergs in recent major tournaments, IdrA was the highest placing foreign Zerg at MLG Anaheim. You know things aren't working out well for someone when you start listing "highest placing X of all Y of the nationality Z in this one tournament" as an accomplishment but he actually wasn't even in top 10 of that tournament. Let's not forget Idra gets dominated by Nani and Thorzain too, so... Ret is at this very moment the best non-Korean Zerg. He would be that based on yesterday's games alone, even if he lost to Thorzain today. The level at which he plays the game is so much higher than other foreign Zergs at this moment. Nobody ever dominated Nani and Thorzain like this since their rise to the top. Nobody. MLG had koreans this tournament didn't, there is no doubt Koreans would have won this if they went. Ret went to MLG Anaheim too, but placed lower than IdrA. I don't like IdrA either but you are making a straw man. Ret and Idra pretty much had the same showing at Anaheim, except Ret got eliminated 2-1 by Ganzi (you know, the dude from SlayerS, the team who had the best minds in the game handcraft a new TvZ build). Idra got eliminated 2-0 by Naniwa. The guy who... we've just seen get completely dominated. Straw man is bringing up their final ranking while ignoring f the circumstances under which the rank was achieved. Oh god no please tell me you're trolling Are you TRYING to suggest Naniwa > Idra Ret > Naniwa Therefore Ret > Idra?
I'm trying to suggest he's playing at a different level to Idra right now. I mean, that's obvious just from watching their recent games, I don't even need results as an argument.
Other people are bringing up Anaheim results, so I'm just saying how it all went down.
And yeah, that logic works pretty well to demonstrate the superiority of Ret's vP (Nani) and vT ( Tarson and Thorzain) too.
But really - just watch the games. If you don't see it for yourself, you probably just refuse to.
