Not only is Zenio Korean, his name is listed second in the match up. There's no hope for Sen

Getting sick of the whether or not Huk is Korean debate. Can we start one about whether Sen can be called a Taiwanese because China doesn't consider Taiwan a country?

2 hour initial delay due to projector/equipment issues.

No seriously its really fuckin obvious that when people call a blatantly pasty white dude like Huk that he is korean they are not talking about his nationality. If you dont understand this by now then you have no hope.

"Korean" means being from Korea, not living in Korea.

You can't just make up your own rules.

TLO is not a Swede, Dirk Nowitzki is not American, Lionel Messi is not Spanish.

In English speaking countries, sometimes words are used to mean things other than their literal definition. May be it's different in Germany.

How do you call a Korean being eligible to play for Korea in a Starcraft II nationwar?

Korean?

That meaning overrides your meaning applied to people not from Korea currently living in Korea.

TLO is not a Swede, Dirk Nowitzki is not American, Lionel Messi is not Spanish.

The same word can mean different things in different contexts.

It's easier to avoid these disambiguities in the first place. Luckily, there is no need to use these words ambiguously, because we have perfectly acceptable alternatives, denoting both the nationality of a player, and the server he plays on.

Huk is a Canadian playing on the Korean server. My sentence is much clearer than your sentence and provides more information. Hence, I'd consider it the better, and more correct way to talk about a player.

Ok, fair enough. However, when someone calls Huk a Korean, it's obvious that it's referencing his training environment rather than his nationality. Again, it's a matter of context.

Imagine if people said Korean-Style Player instead of Korean Player, just think of the arguments that could be avoided. In a perfect world...

Reread what was wrote. Boxer, MC, White-ra and Alive have yet to play. They may not have been noobs in the last games they have played. But they are infact code a or lower.

Yes but Huk's success should be credited to him living in korea... Huk is the only real foreign pro gamer because hes living with the oGs crew and practicing like them, the koreans are a level above everyone else not because they are genetically better, but rather they are better because of the way they live and practice to be a pro gamer.

Oh yes, I 100% agree. Huk's practice environment in the oGs house definitely is the primary factor for the success of this Canadian in the Korean scene and in Europe.

You're being too literal and either deliberately misunderstanding the argument or just not get it.

We're not talking about nationality, I don't know why you're insisting on it.

This whole argument popped up in the first place because people were naming HuK as an example of a non-Korean winning tournaments - which may be factually true (hence you can abuse this so much as an argument ). But it is in fact deceptive when used as an argument for the success and skill level of non-Korean players.

HuK is currently not the representative of the foreign scene in Korea, he's a representative of the Korean scene in the west (just as much as MC, Moon and July are, no more and no less). This is the whole point we're trying to make here.

No, nobody thinks he's genetically, nationally or culturally Korean. We're talking about Starcraft here.

The amount of whiners on the stream is ridiculous obviously the event is not going to be perfect their first time ever doing a live event especially on the first day, MLG isn't even perfect and they've been doing it for what...6 years ? I'm sure the next two days will have fantastic production value though. Nasl ftw.

um.. so you consider HuK Korean?

Actually even korean netizens consider Huk to be a korean gamer so yes I think its fair to say so.

really? that's a news to me. And I vist playXP time to time.

from what I've seen Huk is regarded as foreigner by about 98% of them.

Why does this argument keep popping up anyway?

HuK lives in Korea, trains in Korea and competes in Korea. This is what is relevant to Starcraft - and nothing else.

What color his skin is, where he was born, what are his roots... all of that is just trivia.

Rain just moved to the US - are you saying he's an American?

C'mon guys, think a little. Huk is a Canadian on the KR server.

People are talking about the play style.

If people are talking about the play style and not the person, then they should make that clear.

Like, "Huk has a Korean play style."

Schedule planning non-existent here. You could set it up to have back-to-back matches but that would take 4 booths and a dual casting teams. Which clearly can be done.
