So they're 1-1, with both only playing together, but Tester wins and July's out... This doesn't sound right :'(

Even tough I'm pretty sure the results would have been the same with Rain playing :D

if you want to put it that way, yes.

That's the fact, if not then what way do you want to put it?

Trickster is 2-1 in his group. And July is 1-2 in his group. So Trickster advances, not that hard.

This free win BS is one of the stupidest things gom has done.. So sad trickster gets through cause he gets a free win and july doesnt. They should have thrown in a replacement player or changed the format for that group or something..

Gom is always stupid.

Rain put a wrench in the whole thing... Soo as it went...

Nestea v Rain (Nestea got free point)
July v Trickster (July Wins)
Winners game: Nestea v July (NesTea wins and advances 2-0)
Losers game: Trickster v Rain (Trickster got free point)
July v Trickster (Trickster Wins and advances 2-1)
July vs Rain (July get's free point and stays in Code A while Rain falls off...)

I'm thinking that' how it works...

Rain in the group would have not changed anything anyway.
If you look the results in op, I included rain's games, and it would have been the exact same result.

It should really be an extended series bo3 in that situation.

Winner -> loses to best player
Loser -> beats worst player (or in this case, don't even play anyone, but that's not really the format's fault)

That is not even at all. You should still have an advantage as the winner of the original game.

I don't see how it is possible to disagree with this.

How exactly is it GOMs fault that a player withdrew? Or should they change their format every time ONE player out of 32+ decides to drop out.

Is it that difficult to change the format for a single group?

for people complaining about the format, july had 2 chances to advance after the first game. tester only had 1.

Yeah, because July won the first game. July played 3 games, and he had to win two to advance. Tester played two, and had to win one game to advance.

I agree with some of the things some people are saying. Is it me or is this group play system kind of weird.

Assume "A" is the best in the group, while "D" is the worst.

B and C can go 1-1.

So the deciding factor for advancing will be because one beat the worst player in the group while the other person lost to the best player in the group.

I don't understand how this deciding factor is fair

uhm its like MSL.

A vs B A wins
C vs D C wins
A vs C A advances
B vs D B wins, D drops to up/down
B vs C the winner advances.

this group seems so weird cuz RAIN FREAKING DROPPED HIS CODE S STATUS ON THE GROUP SELECTION DAY

It's not just that.

In your example, if in B vs D, and D wins

Then it would be C vs D rematch. And if D wins the rematch, they would be 1-1

But D ends up advancing because he beat the worst player in the group while C lost to the best player in the group. This part makes no sense to me. It's irrelevant of the Rain situation

well think of it this way.

before they play the final match(5th one), the winner of the second match (C) has 'two chances' to advance to Ro16. He can lose to the best player, but he still gets another go.

However, the loser (D), would only get one shot, and if he loses just a single game, he's over.

Still doesn't really add up tho. As chances are, a so called "2nd chance" against the best player in the group often time isn't better than a "one shot" chance against the worst player in the group.

The bottom line is, this system assumes that beating the worst player in the group > losing to the best player in the group. The problem is this assumption, as you can see, is clearly false.

I don't get how so many people blame gom -.- July played BAD that game. Also, the format makes perfect sense, if a player drops it's fucked, obv, but that's the players fault, not goms...
