Dear IdrA fans, if everything is fucked up because a "worse" player wins against a "better" player, what is the point of any tournament then?

Shouldn't the first prize just be given to the "best" player without playing then? Interesting way to look at sports competitions, really.

Idras a better player than Tarson, but Idra isn't that much better that if he makes a mistake, Tarson can't capitalize. Play safer.

IdrA isn't a better player than Tarson...
Tarson vs MC should be interesting, I hope that Tarson will play agressive

Idra absolutely dominated 3 games out of 5 against Tarson. Also previous results speaks in favor of Idra.

Doesn't matter, right now Tarson is the better player. He won.

In MlG colombus in the lower bracket they didn't do thing like if the past opponents won 2 games, he just needed to win one more game to close the bo3?

No it gets converted to a bo7 So it starts 2-0/2-1

Ok, it was pretty fair I think, at least they were keeping the record of the last bo3

All off idra fan boys you guys need to motivate idra practice more than 3 hours a day.
Whenever Idra loses the thread becomes inflammatory shit.

idra wasn't over hyped in broodwar. he trained so hard on the CJ b-team, lost to trap 1-2 in a very standard macro TvP in the GOMTV classic 2 in the first round, and basically dominated every single amateur foreigner event after he'd been training professionally for three years in korea. minus his fluke loss to nony in TSL3, is there a single amateur event that idra participated in he didn't dominate? plus his liquibition loss to f91 doesn't count because it was laggy and f91 is a pro in china anyways.

This. He's a good player of course, but he's no better than an average Code S Korean, even when his mentality isn't pulling him down. And lately he seems to be getting worse, presumably due to suboptimal practice conditions and being lazy/arrogant.

So many Koreans were better BW players too, I don't know why people even bring up his BW history :/

And no one claims he's better than the average Code S Korean--and he is on their level. Relative to other foreigners, that's amazing. You could count on one hand the number of non-Korean players who could seriously compete in Code S.

Idra wins standard game 1. Loses game 2 after bad micro on his side when Tarson does a hellions into banshee push, actually losing his queens to hellions and a banshee arrives. Game 3 was 2rax double bunker rush, he manages to surround, but mis-targets the last scv which completes the bunker.

That doesn't mean he's the better player, it mean he won. It doesn't even mean that he played better in those games, although I think it's fair to say that he did.

Being the better player has nothing to do with previous results, it's about how well a person can actually play the game. It would be better summarized as the likelihood of IdrA winning against Tarson. Even if you were to go by record, it's ridiculous to say that Tarson is simply the better player because he won the more recent (by a few hours) of five games, when he still won the minority of them.

game 1: tarson went for mech, idra outmacroed him -> gg, 1-0 idra
game 2: tarson opened hellion pressure, banshees as followup, idras economy was screwed -> gg 1-1
game 3: tarson opened 2rax bunker pressure vs hatch first, idra defended poorly -> gg 2-1 tarson

edit: infact there was no gg called in the third game :o excuse me =)

Game 1 was really embarrassing macro game stomp, in which Tarson thought 2 thors (4 total), no marines, would be enough to defend against 20ish mutas

Game 2 Idra lost an overlord early to a marine, guessed hellion count wrong and mismicroed lings a bit and died to those hellions + banshee

Game 3 idra went really late pool and mishandled 2 rax bunker rush and lost

People need to understand that Idra was a sore loser even back in the old days when he was a "nobody" Terran, long before he went to Korea. This has nothing to do with supposed imbalance.

That's true. I bet Tarson ate the steak.

Ya I would love to see how they react to the atmosphere of the tournament, especially after their positive reaction to MLG and Dreamhack... but I don't know if this is something many of them will follow.

This post is 100% right. That's exactly why I like MC and don't like Idra.
