did you bother reading my post? 1v16 and 15v32, versus 1v32 and 16v17. compared to the second scenario, the 32nd worst player has a much higher chance of advancing than if he had to play the 1st best player. the 16th best player gets fucking owned because he has to play the best player in the tournament, whereas in the second scenario he gets to play someone close to his own skill level.
please explain to me how the first scenario is remotely fair for the 16th seed, and how by matching up 15v32 16v31 17v30 etc doesn't give the lowest seeds a much higher chance of advancing compared to having to play 1st 2nd 3rd seeds.
Nope, I obviously completely ignored your post before. As you did to mine. Slik er livet.
Go ahead; root for seed 16, your mediocre hero. It doesn't change the fact that the distribution is important, not individual first matches. If players win, they deserve to move on.

Ummm, isn't Sen's NA alias Softball? He plays on that account all the time on his stream.
Softball is a friend of Sen. He is a player in the TeSL. He often lets Sen use his account to go on NA B.Net. Here's an interview of him done by Artosis: + Show Spoiler +
Sen later changed that NA account from SoftBalL to Sen; so most likely he acquired that account. The real softball probably got another account.

If you want to be upset with someone be upset with the Koreans who have not been participating in more online/offline international tournaments. They're the only one to blame for their low international ELO. Exactly my point. Not sure what people are expecting.

Xeris obviously did the right thing by using the International ELO. It rewards the Korean players who have participated in previous international tournaments. None of the s class players are seeded except maybe mkp? And goody and nerchio get top seeds because they beat randoms in go4sc2 weeklys? That sounds smart to you? None of the foreigners in this event deserve to be seeded. Goody showed how terrible he was last nasl. And you cant say its an international tournament, lets use international elo herpderp. Because omg, the koreans dont play in international events, but they do play in the nasl. It would be like the olympics seeding basketball teams by how well the players in the spanish league played. Do you really think goody is better than polt? Or Alicia? Or Check? Or SC? Or MMA? Or Heart? Or cella? Or anyone on ogs or zenex? He's not, and it takes insane amounts of stupidity to think this seeding was done remotely well. They couldnt even get brackets right with the seeding they used If we believe in TL's division of the ELO rankings into the International and the Korean scene, then it must follow that Int. tournaments are using the int. ELO, not the Korean one. The Korean ELO results are meaningless for an int. tournament like NASL, since the ELOs are not comparable. As an added bonus, using the int. ELO to decide seeding in this tournament can be an incentive for KR players to participate in more int. competitions. It might even be one of the reasons why we're seeing many KR enter small int. online tournaments as of late.
How binarybeast fucked up the seeding in the brackets themselves is their problem, but the underlying system of using the int. ELO for an int. tournament is obviously the correct choice.

lol I'm rooting for Killer but his bracket is freaking sick.
ST.Rainbow (Killed) - ST.Tiger - ST.Curious - And if he survives this he will be playing Alicia or MKP. Wich I think he will kill Tiger & Curious, he already beated Losira many times on korean ladder playing ZvZ and other top zerg players.
If he is able to get into NASL Season 2 he should get a freaking diploma and a trip by dignitas to Korea :D.
I don't see how there is a chance that those 4 spots don't go to Korean players
|
Well, you all forget that Nerchio will win this, specially with a lag-favor on the NA-server. Too bad with the decrease to 4 spots, there's A LOT of quality players in this qualifier, despite MMA already being knocked out and Alicia OR MarineKing soon to follow
|
xeris - can we get a confirmation whether or not the brackets were seeded 1vs32 like normal or if it was that weird 1v17 bracket? or a list of how players were seeded?
|
didn't read pages 2-24: was there a statement from the nasl regarding catz's views and what they think about them?
|
The tournament has at least 62 pros in it, yet only 32 were seeded with ELO. Binarybeast automatic seeding was used even though thousands of subs and millions of views are at stake. Nothing about this makes any sense.

why only 4 spots? 16 relegated, 8 from open tourney, 4 from this, 4 from....????
|
They are looking to change the format for season 2. Will only have 45 players so dropping 4 from this tournament. There is heavy speculation that Nani won't be back for season 2 in case you were wondering where 46 went.

So, today is RO64 yeah ? I Hope MKP will get his spot in NASL He was unlucky today in GSL

TLO with his injury could possibly open another spot.
The schedule could easily be adjusted so that each player only has to show up for four to five weeks instead of all nine. I'd prefer though that more incentive was built into the regular season. Either $50 for game wins or $4000 for division winners $3000 for second and $2000 for playoff winners. That would only take $40k out of the finals pool.

I know there were issues with walk-overs but I really hope they keep the everyone plays every week model. It's much more fun to watch your favorites each week than say every other week.
I think there should be something for the pool play but taking almost half of the tournament prize for it seems wrong. Something more like $1000, $750, $500 seems reasonable (11250 total). However, I think NASL really wants to keep the top prize at $50k so I can't see them offering anything for pool play and be able to keep that number.

To me the NASL is set up in a league format with a tournament payout. The season lasts 91 days and has 50 players yet, 90% of the money is awarded to only 4 of the players on the very final day. I would very much prefer that the organizers embrace that it is a league and make both the regular and post seasons meaningful.

This tournament is way too stacked to only give out 4 spots.
I feel like many among these players could've taken out the eventual Open Tournament qualifiers. Very strange that this bracket is so much more stacked than the Open Tournament.

Alicia, MKP and Min got screwed with that draw. I still expect Alicia to power his way through Nerchio needs to represent the foreigners! I believe he will.
