Hope it's as good as Columbus, had a lot of fun watching!
|
Looking forward to it :-)
|
Hope its even better than Columbus! Make it the sickest tournament EVER seen by anyone!
|
We are just going to continue to make it better and better. Even though Columbus was awesome, there is always room for improvement!
|
Gotta be sick! will it be more Korean invite?! or is it be the same amount?
|
|
Colombus was sick. I'm very skeptical if they can make Anaheim better than Colombus. Definitely looking forward to Anaheim to see which Korean invites will come :D
|
You won me at Columbus, HD pass all the way for me this time o/
|
Can't wait for this, Columbus was so awesome.

So happy that there is a MLG on the west cost! Can't wait to go to a MLG, meet people, and get scraped in the open ladder.
Columbus was amazing, and I'm sure that Anaheim will match this!
|
MVP, Alicia, Nestea, Boxer please
|
Just keep doing what you're doing! Columbus was awesome and made us all proud
Edit: Oh, we want Boxer pleaseeee ^^
|
west coast representing, high hopes!
|
MKP Boxer Nada and Nestea plzplz <3 :D
|
|
i hope invites stay at 4, and however many wanna come to open bracket.
|
MMA shoudl come and defend hes title, also MC is a must. Like to see also Nesetea(prob the best in the world atm) July and Nada and SC would complete the korean list.. Also we missed liquid guys.. where is Huk and Jinro?
|
looking forward, hope more players from Europe will try their luck and I want Mvp plz MLG :D
|
Wonder how many koreans will come this time.
|
2 months
You _____neeed______ to get NesTea, that guy just makes for amazing, amazing macro games
|
nestea mkp and alicia.
mc and july are probably going again.
|
Well at least this venue should be epic enough for this. (This is the same convention center that Blizzcon is held at iirc). I cannot wait to use up another weekend watching this event!
|
Looking forward to it, Imagine the crowd if Nestea, MVP, Nada & Boxer went it would be epic. I love to see MMA / Lorisa return which is highly likely. Cant wait keep up the great work !

Invite Dongraeguuuuuuuuuuuu, i think the same number of koreans will be fine, not more though, kinda sucks that foreigners will pretty much be fighting for fourth place if there are too many koreans... unless the the foreign pros start practicing a shit ton, but that would require more incentive ie money.
i'm just scared of the disconnect between the audience and the players when the players don't even speak the same language, maybe like hype videos for the koreans that come showing why they're famous

They passed on Columbus.. I think they realized that the competition in Korea is a lot better and going to Columbus, while exciting, might not be the best way to improve.
|
Please bring in MKP, he is so fun to watch
|
They shouldn't seed 4 new koreans every MLG if the old ones want to come back. Given how easy it is to stay in top 16 when seeded, after a few mlgs it will be like 80% korean. Some of you obviously wouldn't mind that, but the whole point is that we get to see foreigners playing against Koreans and not just have another GSL
|
I agree: MKP Boxer Nada Nestea allllll the way !!!! :D
|
Columbus was a great success, can't wait for this.
|
MKP san DongRaeGu YongHwa TheStC July Moon Nada Nestea
Damn cant decide :D
We want Dimaga and The Beast from the East as well!
|
please invite BoxeR, MKP, NaDa and sAviOur

This is a bit shortsighted as it is a one week commitment at most.
If Bomber gets his visa issues taken care of, he has to be one of the four in Anaheim.

Sooo stoked for this! OMG!
I only like 30 mins away but I plan on staying there the entire weekend :D

going to be there for sure :D

4 new players will be invited and the 4 previously invited players may attend as well, since they performed so well that despite only attending MLG once, they will be seeded into the pool. However, they need to pay the trip out of their own pocket, which means that placing anything below the 5th places makes the trip economically unviable.
|
Please get DongRaeGu so he will get the Code S spot he deserves!!!
Already super pumped for this event! MLG Columbus was great!
|
I would imagine koreans will be coming again, especially considering that anaheim is several hours closer to korea than columbus was.

what...? There's a $5,000 first place prize. That's like saying you wouldn't want to play in a basketball contest where you could win a lot of money because your team is way better than the others and you won't improve by playing them. The whole reason you practice is so you can improve and then go dominate some tourneys...
|
IMO, there should be a higher prize pool.
At Columbus there were 276 players x $70.00 = $19,320 (Of course, I am sure not everyone had to pay for a pass). Total prize pool is only $14,000? Hmmmm.....

Was actually surprised about this too, but hey! $14,000 is still a shitton of money. I think it's because of the incredibly pricepool at the GSL that just makes all other tournaments look like a waste of time.
Anyhow, I can't wait for this tournament, Columbus was fantastic!

Fully three quarters of weekends I'd be unable to watch, but this falls exactly on the one weekend I have completely free.
Bring on the epicness. <3

Finally an MLG next to me, w0000t!!!

When will we get an update about whether SC2 is going to make the center stage?

I will be buying a player pass, How fast do they sell out? Blizzcon fast, or do I have a couple minutes to buy it?

I'm pretty sure they'll raise it for next year. I think they can keep the national championships with the same prize pool next year and increase the regular events to the following:
1st 10,000 2nd 6000 3rd 4000 4th 2800 5th 2000 6th 1400 7th 1000 8th 800 9th-16th 500/each
This would be a $32K prize pool with 9-16th at least getting $500 each. Considering how much more popular SC2 is than the other games I think this makes sense... we'll see!
|
I'll for sure be getting a player pass for anahiem. Looking at hotel prices right now around in the center area.
anyone want to split a limo from the airport
|
|
Sweet, hope I can make it :D I live close by
|
im going to my first MLG!! i cant wait after the last one. I really dont know if its possible to be better than colombus without MC there and his ability to rile people up!
I gambled that MLG would go to Anaheim and I guessed the convention center so i booked my room over a month ago at this same hotel and got it for $87 per night! woo go me.
|
Hope they can get DongRaeGu and Boxer as invites, that would be awesome!
|
MVP, Nestea, Bomber, Alicia plz.
|
Colombus was pretty sick, looking forward to this for sure! (First time i REALLY look forward to an MLG! )
|
Is there any idea when the passes will go on sale, or do I have to be checking back everyday?

You might want to read this: http://www.majorleaguegaming.com/news/mlg-and-the-gsl-create-groundbreaking-player-exchange-program
At every 2011 Pro Circuit Live Competition after MLG Columbus, GSL placement will occur as follows: Code S status will be awarded to the highest placing player, within the Top 3, regardless of country of origin, who does not already have Code S status.
|
can't wait for anaheim. I hope its even better. Please bring back MC and get Nestea to come as well
|
Did i see right that the venue is directly next to Disneyland? That opens some opportunities...
|
We need to get Gordon Hayward to MLG Anaheim.
|
the anaheim convention center is so boss. one of my favorite venues, wish i was good enough to be there =(
|
got a hotel down there already, cant wait.
got 2 nights at the Clarion for 50 a night. and its like half a block from the convention center.(am driving in on day 1 i live close enough to drive every day but stayin in hotels is fun/i can get there and get back to sleep faster between days lol.)
|
i wonder which koreans would get invited.
we should do a poll on this. lol
i would want nestea, mvp, marineking, alicia
|
Is MMA coming? I mean, he won last one so he should be coming back...
|
MLG hands down best tournament. Even with the media failure that Dallas was, it has by far produced 100x a better experience than any GSL tournament, with possible exceptions given to GSTL. Looking forward to watch this one!
|
Wish California was closer. Too much to go but i'll watch the stream for sure!! Good luck on improving!
|
|
Looking forward to it however I really feel like they need to have a bigger prize pool!

Yeah who cares if it's 90% koreans in MLG, who the hell wants to watch a mediocre InControl lose by trying to go DT's instead of solid gameplay for the 51925th time, I'll take the MMA/Losira finals anytime... god it was grand!

And this is the first one where they get a direct Code S for the win, correct?

It won't be anyone in the Super Tourney Finals, as that is on teh same day. Bomber has already been confirmed, so that should be amazing. Nestea should be in those finals, so who knows which 3 Koreans will arrive.

While true, I'm signing up for the prestige.
Mlg is an established business, not a startup. They hold these events to maximize profits. 70 times 256 players is 17920 dollars. This covers the prize pool but not much else. They rely on sponsorships to cover the rest. Convention fees, lighting costs, etc.
I'm familiar worth lighting these events through work, and lighting alone can cost one million. Don't gripe about a seventy dollar entrance fee.
(there's no way mlg is getting a major lighting designer and experienced crew with production lights, so their figure isn't even approaching one million. I used that number to show you how much goes on behind the scenes that you don't know about. There is an american tv show called Deal our No Deal that wad costing one million... PER EPISODE. I would guess for a number around fifty grand to maybe a hundred, though. Renting lights and the crew to set them up is really expensive)
God that doesn't figure in convention center costs, power, film crew, production. Mind boggling how much sponsors are willing to give.
|

How much does it cost just to play in the open bracket? Anyone know how much it cost in Columbus?
|
|
LOL poor foreigners, hopefully they enjoyed being uncontested in the first 4 MLG's (that featured sc2)
I am SO excited for more Koreans to come and take the prize money, I think it grows the scene and creates a hero story-line when a foreigner is able to take games off of the Korean power-houses that they send
GL and HF in Anaheim

Lol Koreans made the previous MLG a success.. Before that it was so crap good luck MLG hope ur success carries over..

You won't see additional Koreans besides the invites from MLG at the event, because I strongly doubt any other team than WMF is able and willing to finance a trip like this.

I have been looking forward to this for a long time. Tyler's going to show us some great stuff this time. I just know it!

Remember that the seeded pool players get in for free starting in Anaheim (when Pro Status kicks in). Furthermore, the top 16 players receive travel stipends starting with Anaheim as well, and that total is not factored into the publicized prize money. Lastly, a large portion of the 272 entrants received passes for free through contests, sponsor giveaways, etc.
|
Should be good. Hope I'm able to be able to see it. I'm excited to see who they invite from Korea
|
I'm goin to predict MvP and Nestea won't be invited because it seems those two dont like leaving Korea, July, MKP, and MC on the other hand seem like they would love to go. MC seems to be trying to become more of an international player while July loved the last MLG. MKP just seems like he is in it for the fun and I would not be surprised if he went to MLG too.

Lots of space in the convention center and a ton of hotels/food nearby. Enjoyed Blizzcon there last year and would be awesome to be able to goto MLG there.
I would ask Blizzard on suggestions on how to setup. Going to be awesome, so much space for a main stage.

MLG Adams while you here you got any comments about the horrible mistreatment in MLG columbus against the open bracket players.
Im talking about what Thorzain and morrow had to go true? Read his fan page if you unclear.
How is this even fair it seems to me there is a huge difference in treatment against players in pool play and in open brackets.
Also its preatty clear that you accommendation to the koreans was special treatment. How is it that the korean players got so much better accommendation then some of our EU superstars that came from the open bracket and didnt get a free undeserving spot in the pool pool.
How do you expect to get Thorzain and Morrow back to the next mlg or get the EU superstars White-ra,kas, Dimaga, strelook to come under these unfair and allmost torture like conditions?
Morrow and Thorzain both traveled half the world to come and play this MLG and play sc2 I dont think they expect it to be more of a survival race then actually sc2.
I and many other europeans are really looking forward to you responds.

I wonder what MLG means when it says hotel cost and then lists single/double/triple/quad???
|
When will the groups be announced??
|
On June 10 2011 02:05 VPGeneralHans wrote: I wonder what MLG means when it says hotel cost and then lists single/double/triple/quad???
It refers to the amount of guests in each hotel room. So you can tell the hotel, when you make your reservation, that 1, 2, 3, or 4 people will be staying in the room, and it is still 129$/night.

should def make sure MC is there again. His showmanship, imo, is a big part of what made MLG Columbus so exciting and dramatic.
|
With TLO's on hiatus, that's another top 16 slot open, plus potentially the 3 koreans on there not showing up would mean Drewbie, Moon, Thorzain and Sheth getting top 16.... Then assuming Moon doesn't show up either, it would be Huk next but he's in Korea so you never know... after that it's Tyler. So it could be Drewbie, Thorzain, Sheth, and Tyler rounding out the top 16 for Anaheim.
|
What makes you think MC/MMA/LosirA won't show up...
|
is it the top16 that gets invited to the pool play?
|
This tourny will probably be even harder than Columbus. If Nestea or MVP or Bomber or MKP come then our hopes of a foreigner winning the event post-korean invasion will drop to nothing.
|
On June 11 2011 05:38 DoomsVille wrote: What makes you think MC/MMA/LosirA won't show up...
it's just a worst case assumption; now it is certainly possible that Boxer can probably move some strings and get MMA sponsored to defend his title, and perhaps MC and Moon as well.
|
Invite MVPGenius and MVPDongRaeGu!!!!
|
If the whole top 16 attends, Incontrol and Machine will be in the same group again.
|
It's going to be amazing! I hope you guys have a ridiculous amount of chairs though. The outcome will very likely be higher since California has a lot of sc2 players from what I have seen, and the last event was so amazing that many more people will want to go.
As for the invites, I liked them last time mostly because they weren't all the absolute best players from Korea. Of course MC is considered one of the best if not the best, but then MMA and Losira were two very strong players, and Moon was a weaker player. I think similar invites would be great. Something like MKP, Ace, Min and Fruitdealer.

Well MC and Moon have been to a bunch of international events. Their teams clearly have no problem sending them.
But yea I guess no guarantees on MMA or LosirA.

I'm currently planning on going to MLG Anaheim but have a few questions for anyone who went or has any info.
1. Better to stay at the sponsored hotel or look for something cheaper? There's a Hilton across the street from the conversion center and they are giving a discount for people going to MLG at 115$/night, (says single, double, triple, or quad) Is it better to go for this, or go find some discount place a few blocks away where we(me and a buddy are going) could probably get a room for 80$.
2. How closely do they check ID's? I was reading the rules and it says that if you are not 18 (or age of whatever) that you'll need an onsite guardian or parent for registration, I'm 17, and will be less than a week from being 18, during the event. Do they actively check IDs or? I've already sent an email out to MLG too see what, if anything can be done, but it might not be needed if it's the sort of thing where they aren't checking...
3. What's the open bracket look like skill wise? I mean there's defiantly going to be a few pro players in there but is it like 50% are high high masters or GM or higher, or is there a pretty large number of lower level people who are just sort of there?
4. Is it worth it to go if I can't participate but just act as a spectator? My flight is being paid for my by parents as a grad/18th birthday present, I'll have to pay for my own food and room (splitting with a friend).
5. Is there anything else I should consider? I'll be 17, traveling from Canada by myself, staying with a friend for the 4 days during the event, is there anything event, or non event related to consider?
Thanks, Lobber

Change the format please...
Remove rediculous extended series. Balance the amount of games people have to play, for example pool winner can win entire tournament in just 8 matches now, whereas some others have to play up to 20 matches. Advantage for pool players needs to be reduced and there should be less matches that aren't likely to matter anyway.
Except the rediculously stupid format the tournament is quite good and enjoyable to watch.
|
Why is everyone talking about Korean invites? For Colombus, all the Korean players who were seeded had to play a closed tournament in Korea to qualify for the MLG spot.
EDIT: Oops, I'm wrong, only July qualified through a tourney... http://www.gomtv.net/2011gslsponsors3/news/65291

Says who?
Pretty sure they were just chosen and invited.
The only player that won anything to get sent was July but that was completely separate to MLG inviting players and he was in the open bracket.

Is the onsite parent for registration a new thing? I had my parents sign a consent form online, print it out, and hand it in when I was 16/17 playing Halo 2 MLG. You should find out about that cause that's strange.

You'll need to have your parents/legal guardian sign the parental consent form here: https://team-builder.majorleaguegaming.com/media_release_forms/2011_MLG_Appearance_Release_with_Parental_Consent_2011-04-25.pdf
When you check-in on the Friday of the event, you'll provide this form signed.

Do you have to purchase a pass to go and spectate? What does someone who just wants to go and watch have to do, other than secure lodging and physically get there?
|
When will the prize money be increased?
It seems that the prize pool has held steady at $14,000 at least since Dallas despite the blatant popularity of SC2. I'm just surprised the prize pool hasn't grown as fast as audience numbers for SC2.

I don't know if anyone else already said this, but if I recall correctly, Jinro and Huk passed on Columbus to play in some GSL

going off of columbus,
1.depends, with a 10 minute drive ive looked and can find something on hotwire for around $55 a night. with little to know transportation you may be better off staying at a closer hotel just for convenience.
2. deimos answered
3. More like alot of pro players and tough competition, while there are many lesser players in there from columbus, a few really young kids that were in bronze and pretty much everything scattered in between. Depending on the bracket you could win a few rounds depending on the draw at any skill level.
4. Spectating was actually more fun than competing for me. Very little time for breaks and kinda unorganized/chaotic and definitely very busy.
5. if you like dr pepper and they run that booth again, you can get free dr pepper. really cut down on drink costs.
another thing bring a sweatshirt, MLG columbus was like 90 outside, and 60 or so it felt inside. I wore a sweat shirt and pants the entire time, i felt like an idiot walking outside like that though.
|
I don't want to be the idiot on the thread or anything.. but how much is a pass to MLG Anaheim? I just want to know the ticket cost.

What do you mean 14,000$ is now up for grabs, isn't that the exact same prize pool?
Even though this is really greedy just as a spectator, I feel like so much more compitition would be drawn in with a larger prize pool. I don't see Koreans outside of exchange program or can going. Maybe mma will come to get points for championship finals for the big money
|
I think BO5 is better than extended BO7.

If people thought Columbus, Ohio is an exciting place to be, I can't wait until this happens in SoCal 8)

Well atleast we allways get 4 koreans with the exchange program. Im more worried why the top EU players should go.

MKP plz plz
Will Anaheim still be using extended series? It was rather unpopular for Columbus.

Hmmmmm I'm probably heading out to Anaheim to play through the open bracket and see some gosus onstage, and I was wondering how much the registration fee is. Is there one at all? Also http://pro.majorleaguegaming.com/competitions/22#event_51_competition_format (mlg competition format) says, "Public Registration for each 2011 Pro Circuit Starcraft 2 Event will open at 7 PM ET on the Tuesday roughly four and a half weeks prior to each upcoming Pro Circuit Competition. " Does this mean that registration will be done online? Do I have to do something crazy like actually sign up in person? Basically how does the open registration work?

On Tuesday, June 28th at 7 PM ET, player passes will go on sale in the MLG Store (http://store.majorleaguegaming.com/) for MLG Anaheim for 70$/pass.
Once you have a player pass, you'll go to https://team-builder.majorleaguegaming.com/ to complete your online registration. Once you've completed your online registration, you'll then just go to the event on Friday between 10:30 AM and 5 PM in order to check-in and pick up your player wrist band.

I just read the information.

Ok, maybe I've missed something in this thread, but how much does it cost just to go to the event and watch?

Hey I live near here and I would like to go. It would be my first time attending an mlg so I was just wondering if there was any fees to be a spectator and is there food near by because I would like to stay here all day saturday at least. Thanks and sorry if this has already been aswered.

I hope this venue is big! The amount of people who show up should be quite good this time since it is following a very successful event. Good luck hosting the event guys, I'm looking forward to it!

Nestea would be cool But my biggest hope is having the same energetic crowd as i columbus. looking forward to this.

MC is a given. I think he's really becoming an icon in Sc2 and I just love his personality. Also hope MMA/Losira go again, both players aren't overly solid like Nestea making far more interesting games IMO.

The Anaheim crowd needs a lot of enthusiasm to measure up to the Columbus crowd.
People better be hyped!

How about letting the fans pick the players they want to see from Korea? Maybe a poll or something? Fan favorites obviously would benefit MLG in the end.
|
well for the Korean invites, they have to have people that want to come over, also with that can get visas and all that other jazz, plus I bet that GSL people who go deep won't be able to attend.

Seeing how successful MLG Columbus was I don't see how they can't bring bigger names over from South Korea. The only issue I see is the prize pool, honestly for the amount and quality of entertainment that was provided you would think the prize pool would have more money. I want to see the stream stats for each individual game, which I don't think they will ever release?
|
Boxer, Nada, MMA and MKP <3
|
bring Keen and Genius, I bet they get a huge response from a foreigner crowd

Please read above for spectator passes.
If your referring to the player passes, player passes are sold online, in the MLG Store: http://store.majorleaguegaming.com/
To purchase one, log into the MLG Store using your MLG Username (this is what will be displayed on the bracket as well.) Purchase one, and then go to https://team-builder.majorleaguegaming.com/ to finish your online registration.
Once you have that done, you'll then come on Friday between 10:30 AM and 5 PM in order to check-in and pick up your player wristband.

One question: will there be professional players (co-)commetating? The Homestory Cup really made a big impression on me with that and if MLG would involve professional players with commentating alternately, it would be quite nice, I think.

Why couldn't of been just a week or two earlier.
|
See you guys there, horray!
|
Seems like the spec passes are still unavailable. We shouldnt be worried about them selling out right? I am going on vacation starting in like 3 hours. Otherwise I would just wait. I guess I can still use the internet on vacation... EXCITEMENT!!!!!
|
they should all be on sale. by the way, how do they confirm your pass you bought online when you get there?

i don't see the spectator pass anywhere..

perhaps they took it down, i saw it up when i bought it
Edit: theyre up i just checked again
|
|
|
I'm trying to buy the pass with paypal... but it's asking for billing information?
Also, my debit card's billing address is in MD, which apparently MLG isn't accepting now despite the fact that they did last year.
If anyone can help that would be appreciated!
EDIT: Apparently you can just enter whatever billing address information and then it links you to paypal when you click submit
|
I hope koreans come and i hope it ends something like DH :D
|
Well we just bought our 10 passes :0 So excited for the event!
|
If I just want to go for one day, is it still 25$? to spectate
|
I bought a HQ pass for Dallas, and then was given a free pass for Columbus, but then everyone got free HQ stream for Columbus. I saw Sundance at one point say the free passes would be carried over. Is this happening? Does anyone know?

Ahh thanks. Hmm, that means I can't afford both NASL and MLG then T_T.
(I just want to meet Day[9]! ahaha)

Does anyone know who they might have shout casting the event?

I recommend going to both, they really are awesome experiences, and since it's so expensive to travel across country, it's a real awesome treat when an event comes nearby. If you really can't afford both, I recommend MLG, It's been awesome every time and will have many more matches and people around and stuff to do from what I can tell.

the more i think about it, seems like the only reasonable players to send are mostly terrans.

Really? I'm not sure what his age has to do with it and its not like he would be going to an elementary school. I assume you have no clue what an mlg event is like... it sure as hell isn't a day care. Its hard to believe your 25 by this post...
Also 5/3/2k is not shabby if IM sends him, I assume he would come in top 3. If he has to pay for his flight obviously its a different matter.

If this is going to be anywhere near the level of Columbus then I can not wait to watch.
Makes me wish it wasn't on the other side of the country, as well, but what are you gonna do?

I'm assuming you get the vods from the event forever if you buy the event. If you buy the membership you can only view them for the 3 months. Plus with the way the events are staggered, you could maybe get only 1 to 2 events covered in silver depending on how they fall.

If you're planning to attend the Anaheim event, make sure to get your passes quick! Player passes are rapidly vanishing.

The venue usually has food stands set up outside the doors though where they sell food.

Looks good. One concern I had with the previous MLG were the vods. They were to my knowledge hard to find and sort of messy in terms of effiency - ie. alot of games in one single vod and downtime between the games. Perhaps doing something like GOM with the vod setup on your homepage, or have a youtubeaccoun,t and post individual games like teamliquid/GOM does.
Thanks!

Isn't 14,000 kinda weak for a prize pool? Especially for an event of this size...
|
It's been said a few times before that if you give a singly person more than 5000$ than u have to make some kind of agreement/contract with Blizzard. For the Grand Finals it's 50k for first Place and I think I've seen MLG mentioning somewhere that the PP for next seaon stops will be increased.

There are some ticketing positions open for the Anaheim event.
These positions are about 15 hours throughout the entire weekend (different shifts Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). So if you were interested in this position, you'd still be able to see a large portion of the competition.
Also, you would get free entry into the event, plus 200$ and catered food throughout the weekend.

Anaheim Hilton Sold Out – Alternate Hotel Coming Soon
Discounted rooms for MLG fans and players have sold out at the Anaheim Hilton. While there are still rooms in the hotel available, the rate for these rooms is much higher than the discounted rate. We are actively working to secure additional discount rooms at nearby rooms. Stay tuned for more details in the coming days.

I have a question regarding PayPal payments for the league membership passes. I was planning on buying a pass, but the payment seems to require a credit card even with PayPal. I have money on the PayPal account that I want to give MLG, but it seems I can't do that without linking a credit card to my PayPal. Is there any logical reason why I can't buy a pass without a credit card or is it possible to change that ? If not I'm sad that I can't support MLG at all.

Could you clarify something about the details of the MLG/GSL exchange program? Can the Koreans in the open bracket get a code A spot if they finish high enough? It seemed to me that only the invites to the pool play are excluded from the code A invites (but might get a code S spot).

This is from the MLG page:
Also on the line are three spots in GSL Code A, which will be awarded to the three highest-finishing players who do not currently have Code A status or higher and were not invited via the League Exchange Program.
The highlighted part would indicate that Choya and Ganzi would be eligible for a Code A slot since they are not part of the exchange program but are going through other means and there is no Korean restriction in that sentence.

I have an extra one to give away since my girlfriend can't go due to work.
You won't have to pay anything, but if u want to buy me lunch or make a donation, that would be awesomesauce !
EDIT: get it before it's gone haha

The crowd there better cheer their asses off. Hope it surpasses Columbus.

if we have player passes do we also get stream/vod access?
|
On July 21 2011 08:10 JiYan wrote: if we have player passes do we also get stream/vod access? The stream is free at www.majorleaguegaming.com.
However, if you want HQ, you'll need to purchase it from the MLG Store by either purchasing a Membership, or by purchasing a single HQ Pass for the weekend. Player passes do not come with a HQ pass.

Just curious on rules: could EG, if they want, use existing player pass to put Puma in Open Bracket @ MLG Anaheim? I mean, could they sub out one of their existing lineup or buy someone else's player pass to do it? Or have the brackets been locked?

The MLG Username on the Bracket must be owned by the same person that is playing. Meaning, you can't play as somebody else.
If you can no longer attend the event with the pass, you can email jnelson@mlgpro.com and state that, and then your pass will be made available to somebody on the waiting list. Or, if you want to transfer the player pass to a different player, you need to send an email as well.
When you check-in at the event, you need to check in with the MLG Username that is owned by you, that the pass is under, and you must be the person playing in the tournament.
Please PM me if you have further questions.

Is there a way to contact MLG about inquiries on player passes? We had several problems with communication with our sponsors, support from the customer service MLG staff and credit transactions that eventually led the player passes to being sold out despite all our efforts to buy them as soon as possible when they were still available.
Our entire team is all booked and our sponsors have covered, in part, our expenses, but we lack the player passes that we originally couldn't proceed a transaction for.

My friend in Phoenix, Arizona needs transportation to Anaheim on Thursday!!!! Someone PLEASE help her out! Please send a tweet to @thepeaceletter to discuss it with her.

I'm worried shitless cause Columbus was so good.

Hi, could someone help me out by providing some more info on which bus to catch from LAX? I only have a stop-over, but really want to head out to MLG - my international flight lands early in the morning. I saw the "Supershuttle" option, but I want to dump my stuff at a LAX area hotel before heading out to MLG... is there a website that can provide the bus numbers or details for this option?
# Bus Service From LAX ~19 one way

Can I Buy a competitor pass at the MLG??
|
On July 26 2011 00:02 tQSky wrote: Can I Buy a competitor pass at the MLG?? Player passes are currently sold out.
However, we will be creating a waiting list at the event in case a pass becomes available.
If you wanted to try and do this, please have a MLG Username, 80$ in Cash, and arrive no later than 10:30 AM to get on the waiting list. If you don't arrive early, you will likely not get one since there would only be a few available, if any. The line will be at the Team Problem Check-in line which will be a table separated from the regular check-in.

MLG GET HERE FASTER! My patience is wearing thin
|
Okay, so it turns out my internet sucks and the email never got sent containing my drivers, etc. so now I am worried that I might not be able to play.
Is there a way that I can still send that info? (Oh how I hope there is something I can do!)
If not, could I put my player pass up for sale?
Or, is there a way for me to borrow equipment from another player?

what time do the doors open on Friday? 5:30pm straight up?

Can you buy a spectator pass at the door? since i dont have my credit card or bank account so i cant buy it online
|
new word: k-stomp (like k-pop). like when koreans take top 3 its a k-stomp.

So to save some hotel money i'm not thinking of going till Saturday, is there anything big happening Friday that would warrant not missing the first day? or should i still be good attending only Saturday and Sunday?

Yes

Depends if you are a competitor or a spectator. The competition starts Friday, so if you are a competitor, it's important to get there by 5:00 PM on Friday. If you are a spectator, you may come any day you would like.

Just a quick question, maybe someone can answer me: I bought the silver membership pass to get access tot he HQ stream and the VODs. Are the VODs delivered quick and spoilerfree? MLG starts with a 9 hour timezone difference this time, so I want to watch the games the next day instead of staying up all night.

Are there spectators that bring their own mouse and keyboard?

If Columbus is anything to go by, the VODs were up before the next day started, and every series will be in one video, i.e. you can't tell how many games were played. On the other hand, the VODs were unorganized, so it'll be hard to find your game without spoiling what series were played later on(can spoil during the bracket).

So excited for MLG. I've got the stream on my Big screen, and I'm having a party on Friday night with 6+ people coming over! This is going to be a blast. Thanks MLG!

As with everyone else i am super excited for Anaheim; Columbus set the bar really high - or at least it seemed that way after the initial problems MLG had. I just hope and pray Anaheim lives up to the reputation already established i have no reason to think otherwise so i cannot wait!!! DRG and Mvp hwaiting =D

Will there be free vods, all games gonna be in early morning in Europe

I suggest a drinking game during this tourny. Everytime a Korean loses a game (not a match) to a non korean, you take a shot of spirits. If a Korean is knocked out by a non korean, you take 2 shots.
1 shot everytime a Huk match is streamed.
If a non korean wins the tournament, you finish the bottle.
Who's in?

WTF MLG?
How am I supposed to choose between DRG vs TLO or Naniwa vs Huk !?!?

Oh man, i just realized that the whole thing starts at 2am in my country time o.O

If I were to get an autograph signed, where would be the best place? I don't have any Starcraft things leftover, I threw it all out. Starcraft 2 I bought online. I want it to be permanent, too...can't think of anything.

THANK YOU!
Mindblowing that mlg don't do that themselves, at their website or in this thread.

I couldn't really find it anywhere and this is the first time I'm going to be tuning into a MLG event (I know, I know but I haven't been avidly watching SC2 until recently) but is the Open Tournament going to be broadcasted live or anything? Or at least somewhere we can follow how the open bracket is unfolding? And when exactly is the open tournament? Friday before the pool play starts?

Usually the Live Report thread, plus twitter feeds of the people there are the first you'll hear about notable players being knocked out of or winning in the open bracket. MLG does post brackets just before it starts (links to these are usually in the LR thread) but these tend to update kinda slowly because there's so many people playing.
The open bracket runs all through Friday and Saturday.

Could anyone please help me and say on which site i can find the red and blue stream? Don't wanna search for it when it begins.

The MLG site is a god damn mess! It's gonna be here on TL to the right where the streams are.
Anyway there is many hours until it starts so it will probably be posted on mlg's front page right before the event starts.
|
Question guys... for Columbus, the stream for me was in the wrong aspect ratio when fullscreen (it looked 'stretched' vertically).
Will this still be the case if I buy the HQ pass?
|
Not really related to MLG, more to TL.net but can we PLZ have one LR thread for each stream? I'd rather have that definitely, it's way easier to find out what the results are and discuss the games.
|
I'm still not very satisfied with the event-schedule. MLG's keeps working on a european-unfriendly schedule.
the action starts at 2am in the morning. if they could start in the morning in the us, we could at least watch some games before night time :D
thanks anyway, for the great lineup!

Google PST. I think its like 13-14 hours away. I forgot how to do math though.

It starts at PDT (GMT -7) around 13:30, but SC2 main events start at 17:30. So in KST, the time you'll want to be on is KST 9:30.

3.10 am for me...i don't know man,i'll try 2-3 MU.

It starts too too late for us the europeans. Anyone knows if there is going to be a rebroadcast like in the other MLGs? If so, when? I couldn't find this information.

Really sucks for us europeans.Hopefully they start at a normal time @ next MLG for americans and for europeans.

I know in the past MLGs after the day of play finishes, they rerun the entire broadcast like you've seen before. I don't think they would take that away, but then again, who knows. ><

Oh man, I so can not watch that This is just awful for us europeans I wanna see HuK vs. DRG GOD DAMN IT! ;(

Does anyone know if they will sell Starcraft posters for autographs at MLG? Should I be printing out posters just for signatures at home?
Thanks

I am so sooo pumped for Huk DRG.

it's a pity we hardly can't watch it in europe because of the time difference
|
Fifteen hours, omg. I guess we Europeans will miss most of the fun discussions here in the forum. I was looking forward to today, since it's a day off, but I guess I will be watching a stupid rebroadcast on Sunday. Thanks MLG.
|
first time ive been off college for an MLG so pretty excited that i can comfortably watch through the whole of Sunday, MLG is quickly becoming my favorite thing and will surpass dreamhack for me if this is as good as Columbus
|
meh why is it suddenly so much later. :\ the previous events were watchable live in europe before, excluding day 1.
|
Due to a misstake with the starting time, i guess MLG just lost about 10-15k viewers from EU who is simply not able to pull out 3 allnighters.
Ive been looking forward to this for so long, and ive just taken for granted it started 19:10 CEST since TL said it would - and now im not able to watch.
Weekend is ruined.
|
Europe seems angry .. you should just make it at two AM .. i mean who cares (except Europeans)
|
Sleep during the day and stay up all night....We put up with it for GSL, You guys can do it for 1 weekend....
|
oh even saturday is alot more late this time around
oh well, guess it will be a irl weekend then, no biggie
best of luck and fun to MLG, players and everyone else :D hope the tournament will be grand!
|
Sure, most is able to stay up and watch the first few games, but we will miss most of the event. Also small delays which always occur on LAN events is so much more painfull early in the morning rather than the evening.
I just simply feel from a business perspective there is alot of money loss both due to Ads/commercial and HD pass sales.
Im sure there is some that will pull out 3 allnighters and buy the HD pass, but im quite certain 90% of EU wont.
|
Guess I'm not buying a Hd-pass after all....
|
Damn I don't mind staying up late but if it starts at 2 AM there's no way I can watch it. I guess i'll try and get up early and hope that it's not over yet.
|
guys, today is the day DRG-TLO for first, what a test for our TLO
|
Aw damnit, I was really looking forward to watching this but I can't justify staying up all night, I'm seeing a friend tomorrow afternoon so I can't catch up sleepwise if I watch the whole thing... TT
Guess I'll have to go to bed early if I want to see anything at all.
|
Can we get some insight into the reasoning behind the much later start time? I'm sure this will really impact the amount of viewers you get from the EU
|
Imma watch this shit regardless of when it starts yo
|
On July 29 2011 19:20 jexxto wrote: Can we get some insight into the reasoning behind the much later start time? I'm sure this will really impact the amount of viewers you get from the EU
It's pretty simple... Event starts on Friday at 17:00 (their time). People start coming out of work in Anaheim, People are still traveling, and so on The next 2 days they start at 11:00, which is pretty early. It sucks for us Europeans but we can't really blame time difference on MLG.
|
it probably has the worst schedule for european viewers.. disappointing, won't be able to tune in.
|
|
The time difference is because it's on a different coast I guess.

Am I the only one who is considering going to bed......extremely early and getting up at about 05:00 AM? Seems like a more comfortable way compared to staying up all night.

MLG sucks...
...because no one has been streaming for the past week.
|
GSL starts at 2am for US-west coast. The finals of Dreamhack summer was on at 9:30am Monday morning (work day), semis probably started at 4am. There's always inconvenience to certain block of viewers at any event, unless the whole world runs on zulu time or whatever. If you have work the next morning, there's still rebroadcast and VODs. If you -must- watch it live, set your alarm to 2am and go to bed straight from work Friday.
At least it's only Friday and not all 3.
|
Well I guess this will be along night. First MLG from 2am till the morning and after that GSL finals. I better get to the supermarket buying some koffein

As soon as the broadcast is over, they will likely rebroadcast it as they have in the past.

Who has time to watch several hours of video games at 11am...?

|
Damn what? 2pm CET?
Why is ist so late, the last MLG was defenitely earlier, 11pm or sth like that on friday and afternoon on sat/sun.
Man, i'm really down now...
|
When the event moves location, sometimes the timezone will change. Don't be bummed at MLG, they didnt create the timezones.
|
Damn pity about the scheldule. I won't get to see a single game live this MLG
|
Very sad that its so late for Europeans. The usual 1 hour intro and then a couple hours delay, so the first game will probably start at around 4 in the morning.. sigh
|
Meh I was planning to watch this tournament but I can't see that happening given the time it starts in Europe :-(
|
Awesome start time for euro's, well done.
|
Ofc, im not mad at MLG hehe...
Even on Sat/Sun, you might see a few hours but the deciding games will always be in the middle of the night/early morning I guess..
|
i just got the silver league membership for $10.
It said 3 months of MLG membership... does that mean i get MLG raleigh too?
if so thats insane value for money.
|
Quite why the tournament starts at 6pm in the evening I don't know, when they could start it at 10 in the morning and make it accessible for Americans/Europeans alike.
Will there be any coverage of the Open Bracket at least?

Great start time for Australians. Like 11am. Suckers! :-3

You realise the tournament is 8 hours behind BST and 9 hours behind CEST, and that the first day of Anaheim has always started around the evening local time? You can't expect them to change the timezone of California just for a Starcraft event, can you?
|
On July 29 2011 21:01 noezke wrote: Awesome start time for euro's, well done.
Never heard of timezone? I was already prepared for this as i've used to wake up 5am for Ducks home games.
|
Was gonna get a premium ticket, but these times are too bad.
Oh well, i'll see what i can catch on the free stream, should still generate some good games .
|
Can someone explain the VOD system for me plz?
I consider buying the silver membership, if it includes the next MLG aswell.
Can I watch Fridays broadcast right after it is finished or do I have to wait for the VODs till the whole event is over? Also, where can I access the VODs as a premium member?
|

Just another step in the globalisation of esports IMO.
Anyway, it starts at 10am for me, which is great although I won't be watching until Day 2 probably.

MLG is just losing money when they make tournament unwatchable for europeans.
|
A rebroadcast at a 12 hour offset is all that is needed. I'm sure that's worth the additional ad views; MLG will realise this when viewing figures drop from Columbus.
I am swapping my (UK) sleep schedule over completely because I can, but few have that option.

The vods will be available only to those who have paid the premium/whatever it is called?

Formula 1/Football etc makes their starting-times based on the tv. The most viewers in these sports are in Europe, so even if the game/race is in honolulu they would try to start it at prime-time in Europe.
I've no problem with staying up, but this MLG won't have alot of viewers from europe. 2am to 10am is the most ridiculous time ever to stay up. If you wan't to watch MLG you need to change you're whole weekend and sleep from 10am to 10pm... what makes you miss the whole EU Sport like Formula1/Football :p
|
Before I went to bed yesterday or in the evening rather i checked the time for when it starts briefly. On the TL calendar it said 1900 CEST. I was like, yeah that's perfect. And now today, like many, I realize the time was wrong (no hard feelings, last time I tried to convert myself and I messed it up 5 times in a row..) so that's a bummer.
But! I have already adjusted my game plan. The rebroadcast is perfect, it even almost rebroadcasts twice before the next day starts and they cut out the downtime as well. So that is really good.
The only thing will be that a huge part of the fun is watching it live and talking in IRC. Getting that feeling of being connected, that you are there, sharing this moment in time and you know what the other person is feeling.
As of now, I have to force myself to not give that too much value because there is no way I'm going to watch from 2 AM into the morning. I'm just gonna wake up and watch GSL. Hope MLG is finished it's first night so I can tune into the rebroadcast and not get spoiled. (Like at the end and they say what happened earlier... no thanks lol). I will then stay in isolation. I'm gonna un-homepage TL. I'm gonna see if I can embed the MLG stream, like only use the popout links from tl or something, so that I wont be able to see the MLG website, and the little Live On twittery box that says, Epic day, NaNiwa 2-0d DRG ezpz and is first in his pool. I want to believe in him and see him do it right in front of my eyes.
Then, when the first day is over, everything changes. This is very important, it;s only the first day that is kinda messed up. 2nd and 3rd day start at like 8. If you watch till 12 and go to back you can watch what you missed by going to bed from like.. 1300 to 1800 or something during the day at your own leisure. And then the final day will be a shorter day where, I haven't checked actually. The finals occur at like 2 AM eurotime. Which is a sacrifice one needs to make but doesn't compare to a complete 180 on your sleep schedule which is also very hard to revert back, for me at least.
Summary: - For one day give up the live special feeling and be content with doing that the 2nd and 3rd days. - De-homepage TL. - Bookmark the Red and Blue stream popout links to avoid the MLG site. - Start watching the ~start of MLG re-broadcast after GSL Finals. - Stay in Isolation (lockdown) until you have finished watching the re-broadcast, after that the internet will be safe again. - Rest of the days won't need drastic measures, maybe cut of the last 3-4 hours and apply the method above to it, if you decide it's enough and you value taking a rest.
It should be ok, even though it's a bummer, there is just nothing they can do. It's just how it works. Ultimately you are responsible for what time you have available and also for if you decide to spoil yourself. Make the best of it,
Best of luck!
Edit: with the pass I believe you can rewind and forward quite a bit, and it will still be nice quality of course so I don't see this having any affect on the value I place on the pass.
|
i just realised how much i hate this european times wasn't it like 5 hours earlier last MLG?
Edit: ohh i see, nice post (poster above me)
|
what is wrong with you guys, if u go out at weekend you wont be in bed before 6am, so whats the problem starting at 2am?? go DRG

I could be wrong but aren't Anaheim and Columbus in different time zones? Which would explain the change in time for us Europeans.

I`m also so super excited especially when I look to these Groups.
But i dont get this VOD / rebroadcast System
Assuming I want to be a full Free user ( so no passes whatsoever) what am I able to watch beside the live free Stream ?
Are there LQ free VOD`s which get uploaded right after the first day ? Some people talked about a rebraodcast / restream of the Event, is this also available to free users and when does it starts ?
What are my possibilities as a free User to catch the games missed since I dont want to stay up untill 2:00 ?
It would be really great if some one give me an clarification here, even since I think this issue interests alot of people
PS: my first post after a long time of reading only in the TL community.. so.. you guys are awesome ! ( just had to be said)

Fuck da west coast yOoOO!!!
Haha nah but I'm wondering one thing. For the silver membership you get ad-free HD, but if you doesn't pay do you still get HD but with adds running?
|
I have a question about the VODs. For how long can I access them if I buy a Silver Membership? I haven't been able to find it on the webpage... Somewhere it says something like you can look at the vods during the weekend but that sounds so silly? I need some clarification!

It's not possible to update the first topic to have the exact time schedule... it's a bit hard try to follow the MLG in europe without a schedule...
Also some information about the VOD aviability for who don't buy any pass would be fine.

In the OP, it says "5:30 Local time" which really isn't helpful at all. However, reading a bit in the topic, I'm guessing it's on the West Coast of the USA, which means 8:30 EDT. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah useless topic ever... no real information there... hope in some update early in the days.
I'm at +9 h time zone... so if the start in friday at 6pm, here in Italy will be 3am. Impossible watch anything. I probably can wake up early to see the final friday night event... but there's the GSL final to watch too... probably i start looking at MLG from Day 2 or 3.
Any news about the VOD aviability?

Might be a good idea indeed.
I concur. I prefer watching it live rather than on VoD or rebroadcast.
I previously planned to take a big nap this evening to be able to stay up late until I realized the times were in PST.
What I am gonna do is eat early at 6:30, go to bed at like 8:30, and do what I usually do to go to sleep: watch SC2 streams! I should be able to get up at 4 or 5 am this way. Then repeat on saturday and on sunday.

I'm just saying they should have started the event a lot earlier during the day. If the games start at 10 am that actually gives both americans and europeans a sporting chance to catch the event live.

Not sure what you mean, but 10 AM on a Friday is a terrible time for Americans to catch the event. We're all at work.

They won't have open bracket until just before the tourney begins, after player check in. Until they know who shows up they can't fill in the bracket.

You can't expect an American event to run at EU times, do what I did and book the Monday off work and you're sorted to watch the whole thing provided you have stamina.

I just feel a bit of consideration could have been given. Taking a day off for a tournament to watch on the internet isn't viable for everyone. I hate to be that guy, but I feel if eSports wants to be huge then timezones must be considered.

The World Cup is huge and if it's in South America the time zones are terrible for us. It's part of it.

What's with all the European whining this time? MLG is an American event, so it shouldn't be surprising that it's run at times convenient for Americans. GSL starts at 2 or 5 a.m. (pacific and eastern respectively)--time zones are a bitch, but what are you going to do.
That said, typically MLG immediately restreams their content once they're done broadcasting for the day. At the last event, you could even jump to a particular point in the restream, so you can just catch the matches you're interested in if you so desire.

Because it's an American event shouldn't be the excuse to completely fuck up the schedule for rest of the world. They need viewers to watch the event, not just the American ones. But i also understand that its friday and you really cannot start the event much earlier. GSL schedule isn't that good for Europeans either, since its on when people are at work or school.
I don't really care if the schedule is like it is now. I have no problem with it since i can fuck up my sleeping schedule if i want to. Imo this is good post:

EU events run on EU timezones, and when part of your staff still goes to college, locals need to go to work, etc., it's just not reasonable. You can't get a large crowd if most of them are at work and can't attend, and a large part of the US streaming audience (which is pretty much their only market for Halo/CoD) won't be able to watch either.

To be fair it's not that they're not already doing things, they're checking in the hundreds of players that they have now as well as going through things with pros, giving warm up times, etc., so pushing the streams forward would also require them to have the check in times earlier and stuff like that, which would make it kind of early for the live players/audience.

US people are correct imo... it's an american event and had to be do in Us normal time.
But the organazer of the event had to know that would be difficult for european follow the tournament, so maybe also because it's in they're interest also, they could made a restream for eu nerds... or try to made void aviable in short time so one can watch the friday Us event in Eu saturday afternoom etc...
I think that it's a loss for both Eu fans and Us organizer if the event had less spectators that it deserves...
Actually there's no news about if the vod will be aviable for free after the tournament?

Yeah obviously it's an american event. Even so, the audience for this event is international. Im not sure about the VOD-situation, but if it requires you to buy a ticket for access that obviouosly would be a huge mistake.

The first day of MLG was always kinda fucked for europeans but the second and third day were in the afternoon, but now we also have to pull an all nighter the second and the third day which is kinda fucked up.

What is the schedule for Saturday and Sunday like?

It's true but at least VOD are aviable almost istant! :-D

You can also find the code underneath your "Membership" info on the MLG website for your profile.
Basically the code will enable HD Video viewing directly through the MLG site.

MLG will no longer be making replays of Tournament matches available to the public. We realize that this has been a popular feature, but unfortunately replay packs contain data which can be used to DDOS the player- and the event. Because of the volume of replays we have to process during an event, we are unable to strip that information out of the files before publication.
We realize that a large number of matches are played offstream at Pro Circuit Competitions. After MLG Anaheim, we will be sending replay packs out to selected groups of casters, so that these never-before-seen matches can be commentated and then released for everyone to see.
^ This makes me extremely sad. Because of some idiots out there we can no longer enjoy the replays of the brilliant minds of Starcraft 2. Was actually looking forward to that nearly as much as the event itself TT.
|
Kinda sucks to read that they're not releasing replays of the games anymore.

because in the " mlg anaheim hq stream pass" section there are products yes, plus the silver membership will also cover raleigh (and maybe orlando? i don't know exactly when that is) for the same price as one of the old 1-event hq stream passes

Anyone have problems getting their HD code I purchased it but never got an email (checked spam) I sent them an email and no one answers their phone number PayPal gave me

I got my HD code and put it in and everythings all set for this great weekend.

|
Its insanely hard to find information on the mlg site, stuff is hidden away in weird places... Also, that is really sad about the announcements :/ Whole point of 2 streams is being able to watch both, without being peppered with ads every time you switch quality.
|
That announcement just went up on their site 45 mins ago, the post you are quoting is 4 hours old. Did you even look at all?
|
mlg same day as evo
what a shame.
|
Just bought the silver pass, hopefully this will last for the next MLG event aswell.
This is mostly due to the case that i cant stay up all night watching the stream, so tomorow i will start fresh with nice HD Vods.

MLG used to rebroadcast games after each day during the downtime before the tournament started again. Will they do it this time too?

Question thou, aproximately how long does it friggin take before the silver membership actually takes effect? bought it 30mins ago, and it still doesnt work, just get a popup asking for a voucher when trying to view in HQ... Click on edit profile, go to management, in the middle of the page should be a code that you copy/paste into the thing. Also rebroadcasts start almost immediately after the day is over, did for past MLGs at least.
|
For the two streams thing, I'm sure they will have a solution by next event but the method they use now (entering the voucher code) would be extremely broken if you could use it more than once. I think next time they should just use the account or ip tracking method, perhaps they are only using the voucher format because of the hq pass from dallas carrying over.
|
|
Will they have free vods for this, ( I'm not bothered if they are released a few days after it is over and in low quality)
|
I bought my Silver pass 30 minutes ago, and when i turned it on to "Ultra" it asked me for a voucher, i entered my voucher and was set on Ultra, but quality doesnt change.
Perhaps its because its a "re-broadcast" from last MLG, and the actual HD will begin when the new event start.
Tme will tell.
|
Two questions, sorry if they've been asked/answered already in the past 32 pages.
Will MLG be sticking to their schedule, or will they just start matches when the previous one ends? Since obviously not every match is going to take an hour, will they just wait until the end of the hour to start the next one or just jump right in?
And does anyone know the site for the double stream?
|

Yeah, we did not have the ultra quality being broadcast in Columbus. That is a new improvement for Anaheim. Stay tuned for the Anaheim streams for it.
|
So apparently some Halo semi-pro got kicked out of the event for attempting to sell adderall as a performance booster...I giggled, and what the hell is that supposed to do for you?
|
I just read up on the MLG site that people with an HQ pass won't be able to have two streams open at once for security reasons. So, if you want to switch from Red to Blue, you'll have to close one or reduce the quality, which I believe results in an advertisement replaying.
Kind of a bummer for people who like having all the streams open and simply cycling between them or having them up on separate monitors.

|
^has been posted already.
Also after validating my pass my stream will occasionally switch back to mid, then play 2 commercials so I can't immediately do anything about it. Extremely annoying.
|
Which resolution and kbits/s is the Ultra Stream?
|
Are all the vods uploaded straight to MLG:TV, and are they organized in anyway? This is first time with the pass and I've been struggling to navigate the MLG site and find out where everything is. Also I'm in England so I've gotta sleep soon

Brackets up.
Quick analysis of Open bracket spots to get to the Pool play.
Pool 1:
Tyler, Axslav, TT1, Jinro, Choya and OptikZero for notables.
Pool 2:
KawaiiRice, Tgun, ddoro, Ganzi, Demuslim, dde, white-ra, strifeco, skew, major,
Pool 3:
Vibe, Oz, LZgamer, Rain, Slog, Spanishwa, Qxc vs HDstarcraft (first round, haha)
Pool 4:
Cruncher, Stalife, Catz, LastShadow (against Xeris, haha), Alicia, Gatored, PainUser, Merz, Pokebunny, Destiny, Fenix
|
Let's not forget SlayerSGanzi, DeMusliM, WhiteRa, Destiny, and qxc. :D

Not really, no. Silver you are entering a recurring billing membership plan. Meaning if you do not cancel you will renew. We do think there is real value, so we are not trying to trick anyone into staying with us. So we made cancellation super easy. You just click one button on your membership profile, still receive the rest of the term you paid for, etc.
But yes everything you get with the $10 Single Event Pass you get with Membership.
|
lol $5,000 to the winner mlg what?
|
The Open bracket to get to Pool 3 spot is going to come down to Oz/Rain vs Qxc.
Pool 1 is pretty open. Going to be down to who's playing well.
Pool 2 is going to be Ganzi and Pool 4 is going to be Alicia.

I assume they're in it more for the circuit points for the grandmaster finals which the prize pool is $50,000. Imagine $50,000 + all the littler earnings you made on the way?

i just payed, on my profile it says i have silver membership, cant put the video on hq, WTF

yeah whats going on? i bought silver and cant watch hq ..

Is it me or is high/ultra quality the same as mid quality?
|
Crazy ammounts of lag on the blue stream. Or in general I guess.
|
Streams keep going black for me forcing refreshes.
Once again the biggest problem with MLG is the delay in between games, I wish they'd somehow just Obs someones (players) screen.
|
I've entered my redeem code like 10 times but I still keep getting the stupid commercials...
|
Why can't the redeem code be connected to my account? Every time i write it in on 1 stream I get commercials on the second one and vice-versa even on low quality.
|
Im not even getting commercials, when they go to breaks my screen just goes black
Adblock have any effect on it now?
|
Basically the only way I can view the stream is by NOT using my redeem code, as soon as I enter it i start getting lag on all settings (from low to ultra)... Their system is great...
|
I paid and didn't get my code emailed? Anyone else got this problem?
|
|
It should just stay with the account name and you wouldn't even have to enter it... Like on GOMtv...
|
MLG site is so confusing. I've had to google for the red and blue stream cuz i couldnt find them on the mlg site.
I've searched for about an hour now wether there's vods anywhere. I find some when i start the red/blue stream and choose vod:s there, but they're all mixed up in wrong order and some of them have wrong names and such. I have a silver membership and that should give me HQ vods right? but i cant choose quality on the vods i found.
Its all very confusing and wierd. They should learn from GSL
|
It would be awesome if there was just one long video for the whole day from both blue and red stream for us that couldnt watch live. If i pay for this, that should be the least to expect really.

Go to mlgpro.com. There is a video playing automatically on the front page, and there are tabs above that to change between the different streams. I don't know how much more straightforward it could be.

Does anyone have a rough idea of how many viewers both the blue and red streams combined are getting?

Whats the point of having 2 streams when the two streams are never up at the same time. I am really really frustrated that I am unable to watch other great games that are going on. All they have up right now is Boxer Rain. I want to see Ret Ganzi, Naniwa Idra Huk Sjow. However none of these matches are being casted. Dream hack did a much better job having 5 streams running at once. Almost all the matches were covered. MLG could really learn something from the past dream hack that huk won.

Yes, for me this MLG is again a fail, you get used to it after a while, so many good players playing and they show on both streams a TVT . Dreamhack has no competition, the professionalism seen there is unequal.
I am so glad i decided not to pay because again i would just throw the money out the window.

better than columbus, but i agree with the comments about content. too often the same game is on both streams. that's pointless, it's bascially saying, "we want you to think we're going to stream twice as many games as we intend to." if your casters can't cast for whatever lame reason, grab a couple pros and let them do it. there is no excuse for having 2 streams and constantly showing only one game, when you have SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many awesome games going on.
FIX IT!

I don't know if this is the right place to say this, but wtf is up with having two streams showing the same thing for such a large part of the day? I want to see interesting stuff such as Nani vs. Idra but instead both the red and the blue stream shows the same game? Is this a joke of some sort? If they don't want to show me as a non-paying customer everything they should not market themselves as having two streams. That just makes them look bad. Not at all as other tournaments where one can choose to which games one wants to see.
Edit: I now see that I was not the first person writing about this, sorry for spamming stuff others have already said.. But it had to be said and I don't really see a problem with saying it again since it seems to be something others also find strange.

Its normal to spam, maybe in the end they will finally aknowledge it and do something about it. Take into consideration there are ppl that paid for the stream to see 1 game, when there were at least 7-8 great games out there

why in the world didn't you put the idra vs naniwa games on at least one stream? No need to have Boxer being interviewed on both streams at the same time when 95% of your viewers would probably rather be watching idra vs naniwa...
|
It hurts to see so many great matchups but most of them aren't broadcasted. And without having replays its just some numbers on the paper.
Idra vs naniwa and only one stream is live at that moment not showing it with second stream?
if i only didnt know that match ups were going on.
More streams or replays or smaller tournament please.

Not sure if I'm at the right place, but I have to say the fact that I can mute commercials on these streams is so amazing. It's so great that this MLG has been one of the most enjoyable sc2 tourneys I've ever followed. If you revert this for the next mlg's, I might actually break down and cry.

Top notch security at the door they aren't checking if you have a wristband lol

5 Terrans and 1 Zerg left. I don't care much for balance but seriously, unless DRG beats MMA, this will end up being one of the most anti climatic endings of an event ever. From an observers point of view I find TvT to generally be one of the most tedious matchups to watch. All in all, best MLG so far!

Erm, does anyone know if the video is available which they played during pause with quotes from the games? I'd love to have that it was SOOO funny^^

Top 6 Korean.
One can safely say its back to good ol' Broodwar days...
