We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum.

Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service.

Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out.

Completely agree with this. This guy is a legend in the making.

Yep. His TvZ shows quality beyond what anyone else has shown. He truly maximizes the potential of his units in a unique and insanely skillful way ^_^

Don't agree with this at all. Losira fucked up engagements in both games.. in that position he should have won. There are people with much better TvZ's.

I'm glad MMA won though, MC to win the entire thing.

Thing is though, this is TvZ being played on the spot. I mean I can remember a lot more epic matches, but all of them have been in a format where you have a long time to prepare. We have to remember that, the games being played aren't prepared as well as for GSL and other such tourneys. Heck the koreans haven't even played testbug before.

Just woke up and it looks like I've missed some of the best games!

A couple of things I want to note.
MajOr did an incredible job at this event.
Sheth and Slush are on the brink of breaking through that "next level"
MLG have done an amazing job. So much so, that I have enough faith to already buy tickets to the next 2 events. Even an act of god didn't stop them.

Now for the bombshell.
I don't like the fact that Koreans have come through and taken *all* (top 3) the money. Yes, they provided the "best" play, and are incredibly solid/strong/gosu, however to have "The greater race" fly in for 3 days, walk away with $12,000, and leave isn't good for the foreigner scene.
As is obvious, we have a pretty amazing audience now-days, but I don't believe we're giving the best foreigners the best chance at making this game viable. And if the best can't win an event like this, what is left for those at the brink of deciding whether or not they're going to dedicate their time/money/life to gaming, or to a 9-5 job.

Just like I buy the items with the "Made in Australia" tag over those made in China, I feel we should support the NA scene more than we did at MLG Columbus. Either that, or make it equally viable for foreigners to go to Korea, as it is for Korea to come to NA
(3 days for $5k, opposed to 1 month for $1500 in code A)

Sincearly,
Concerned fan.

QUOTED FOR TRUTH!

This should be on the front page of TL. If Koreans come into the western tournaments and take all the money then the western scene is dead. Players like Naniwa and Thorzain could not afford to attend these tournaments if they had not won previous ones. In the future those types of players simply won't show up, because it will be a given that the Koreans will win.

Don't invite the best in the world because we are to bad to compete with them?

Players like Naniwa have said that they WANT to compete against the BEST otherwise it is not a true "competition".. The more integrated the western and Korean scene becomes is BETTER for esports as a whole. BW died out everywhere except in Korea - having Koreans fly in for foreigner tournaments works against that same outcome.

Anyway; i really want MMA to take this!!! Even if he loses though then we get MMA vs MC?

I'm getting pretty depressed by this attitude.

Last I checked we were trying to call this an e-SPORT, as in a competition. If we're going to not have the best players... why bother trying to call it a sport? It's been raging for ages with people saying that the Koreans really aren't the best.

Well, 6 of them came to MLG, 3 of them made top 3, two of the others were knocked out by one of those 3....

They're better. Why should worse players win lots of money? Because you like them more for playing worse?

+1
not inviting the best just so u can win??, those are the attitude of losers

I understand and agree with your sentiment. Only the best players should win the best tourney.
Which is where the GSL comes in, with a top prize of about $87000.
You need to CULTIVATE roots-level first. I might have won my leagues premiership last year, but I don't feel the Spainish international team should have been flown over at the leagues expense, to find out who the best is.

And also, if you want "TEH MASSES!!!" to tune in, you need someone who you deem to be on an obtainable level, and for the 15 year olds just tuning in who may or may not be "The Next Jinro," it is VERY hard for that kid to aspire to be a pro when Koreans are winning whatever they enter.

I'm not saying
"BAN KOREANS!" I'm saying, if Koreans want to participate in a chance to win $5000 in 3 days, let them pay for travel expenses, and fight for their seed points, just like Americans have to do in the GSL, and just like Americans have to do with the MLG.
I'm asking for no privledges. Equality.

If anything foreigners are getting the better treatment. The GOM/MLG deal gives MLG winners auto-seeds into Code A/S (don't remember the exact details right at the moment), and both of those tournaments are far, far more competitive and difficult to perform in (or even get into) than MLG. GOM is doing the exact same thing for foreigners so you don't have a whole lot to complain about.
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.

Anyone else think that Losira played kind of sloppy those games? He seemed to donate so many free units to MMA those 2 last games.

MMA is the person that is not afraid to use marine drops when a gaggle of mutas are out. This is actually ingenious for two reason. Obviously because the zerg is not expecting it (especially if they dont see it with an overlord or a is distracted) and because a zerg will never ever split their mutas making multi-drops sooooo effective; zerglings, while being very mobile, cannot clean up drops so with that style Losira was doing he required the mutas to be everywhere at once.

Hmm, quite hilarious that people are getting pissy about Koreans being in the top 3 spots. If foreigners want to win so bad, then they should practice harder...nothing is stopping them from doing so. Or maybe they should, you know, get a practice house if they are THAT serious about playing. I just don't understand. I know that the US is a bigger country and that some people don't want to truck it thousands of miles from home, but a lot of these Korean players give up EVERYTHING to sleep on a small cot and play this game professionally at the HIGHEST tier.

Case in point, if you want things in life, you have to make sacrifices and put in hard work. You just don't get them by breezing by.

Also, to the person that said Koreans can come if they pay their own way over here, then the GSL shouldn't offer foreigners all expense paid trips for code A and code S?
Dirty Deeds...DONE DIRT CHEAP!!!

Why are people saying Losira fucked up... MMA planted those siege tanks there for a reason and you can't even see them from your screen until its too late when there are 5+ tanks sieged, your lings go poof REALLY fast and all this is happening as MMA is all over your base with the multi drops.

Haha i dont have bing commercials, I get the one where the basketball game lags and that hot chick shows up :D

Hahaha, ye i think that's the best commercial so far. The Big one with "Get Real" was cool at the beginning but now its just so freakin annoying.

Ret got so unlucky in the GSL running into MMA first round. He was unknown to a lot of people back then, but a lot of the top players were recognizing MMA as having one of the best TvZs in Korea. No shame in losing to him ret : (

t's not racist, I care much less for the Koreans, not because they are Koreans but because they don't participate in any tournaments I watch. This means that I neither love not hate them and thus their games become boring to watch, no emotions at all from my side.

I am unfortunately not a big enough Starcraft fan to watch games just because the player who plays them is good, I'm mostly watching for excitement.

This is funny like saying im an avid football fan but i dont watch european league i mean lol

I dont see why High level zergs dont double-up on CRUCIAL buildings at far expos.

No reason to have the entire game riding on a single structure.

I agree with you whole heartedly, i find it astonishing at times when zergs put all there main structures at one location allowing drops to devastate them. I mean whats another 200 minerals on a spawning pool on 3-4 base?

This will be done in the future. It is a mistake were people will learn from.

SC2 is far from played perfectly.

OK, so the top3 foreigners get code A spots. The top3 are Idra, naniwa and Slush. I can imagine Idra will decline, so the next foreigner is Ret, who could problably decline as well. Than it is a tie between Fenix, Haypro and Thorzain.

Personally, I would love to see Throzain and Naniwa go to code A.

?

You care less for the Koreans because they don't participate in tournaments you watch. So they are boring to watch when they participate in tournaments you watch?

Don't play dumb, it's pretty easy to understand what he means.
Koreans flying to western events is a relatively new thing, if you watch western tournaments you obviously are way more familiar with western players than players like MMA, Losira or July.

It might be new for BW but not for WC3 and it was the better for it i hope the sc2 scene continues down this route
