We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum.
Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service.
Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out. -- updated 7:55 KST |

You need more than 3 OC to make up for that. He was definitly behind, although probably not as much as the numbers suggests.
3 rounds of mules each time + ability to make 3 scvs at a time will turn the tide back into MMA favor unless another huge bane bust would of ended the game.

Anyone claiming balance issues with regard to Zerg vs Protoss cause of the Idra v MC series missed the total mental collapse of Idra.

Guess I wasn't the only one that doesn't care about the results of a bunch of random koreans. What? Are you implying games aren't worth watching just because of the players' nationality? They aren't "random Koreans" either. So stupid.... Don't reply to these comments.. people watch games for different reasons. I do because I love starcraft, which means I'll be happy to watch koreans at the top if they are truly the best. Other people watch for the hype, and they feel more excited when their homies play. I understand the feelings of many people, although I feel that shouldn't make them miss quality starcraft games. There is no shortage of quality games, what makes MLG and other tournaments special to me is cheering for personalities I know. Just having random amazing players, that don't speak the language, that are not involved in the western scene (don't stream, don't go on shows, don't contribute) I just don't care about their results. A korean wins, which one? I certainly don't care, in fact, koreans will take home all the big money, because they are top 3. bitter foreigner much? you're a fucking racist. he absolutely is. It's not racist to only be interested in watching players you know. I don't care about watching barcelona vs real madrid in the champions league, but as soon as a british team's involved I will watch! No he is racist. If Koreans were considered a "white race" he'd have no problem with it. His whining comes down to racist under the guise of all his other bullshit he's spouting. Oh and also players he knows? this is a global game, anybody who follows sc2, knows alot of korean players. please. Youre so wrong. Select isn't "white". Racism has nothing to do with this. I don't agree with him at all, I want Koreans in MLG it made it 50X better, but your statement is inflammatory and false. Racism and discrimination has something to do with all sports... It's something that increases nationalism, and nations clashing which leads to more racism. It's all in psychology of racism. It's supposed to make you more proud of your own nation which makes it feel like it's more bonded together and that your a "team" against your opposition. Which is a roadblock to world peace, and general world togetherness.
i like how instantly when someone doesn't cheer for a type of players he is a racist, get off your high horses, not liking players for X reason doesnt make you a racist... myself i dont really like these sc2 korean guys that come here pretty much without having contributed in any way to our scene and just taking the prize money and flying away...on the other hand i like select and moon regardless of them being koreans, just because they both contributed a lot to western esports (moon on wc3 competed in basicly all western tournaments). i even would prefer mc to win since he showed a lott of interest in our scene actually.

Does a baneling bust ever beat a protoss in ZvP? I don't think I've seen it work all day.

They take the score from their earlier encounter where Idra beat MC 2:0. MC went 4:0 today resulting in a 4:2 total for MC.

Losira is the second best zerg in the world atm like it or not

Will we see the same thing happen at Dreamhack in two weeks? I think so.
Would have LOVED to have a SotG on this where the pros themselves can speak on the matter. What? MC is undoubtedly the best Protoss in the world. Losira is a top 5 Zerg and MMA is a rising Terran star. Also, we have pretty much the best foreigners at this MLG. I can't think of any that were sorely missed. White-Ra

Is the finals an extended series or a fresh one?
|
MLG isn't perfect but I have to say it IS delivering. Despite the hiccups, I don't think anyone expected the tournament to go flawless so good job to MLG so far. I think my only realistic complaints are extended series and no daystosis, so huge thank you to MLG so far!

Did they move the Halo Chairs over to SC2? or did they always have this big of a crowd.
|
I'm not sure if it was mentioned already but this win puts MMA in code S. Losira and MC are already in code S so even if MMA loses, he gets in.
|
Losira will have to release the invincible new IM Mcdonadls Uniform to beat MC haha

That is a terrible attitude. Every time we have an event with Koreans like this the foreigners get better, give it time. Also having Koreans owning is good for the general narrative, it will be more awesome when foreigners start winning. I'm actually happy that Koreans are owning, it means the game is good and practice matters. Never happened with Starcraft 1, I don't think it will happen here. Korea is already ahead of the rest of the world, and it will just get worse. We shall see, but I put all my money on the US and EU scenes drying up if Koreans continue to be invited and dominate western tournaments. Boohoo, can't compete so give up right? It's a practice and drive mentality and if the gap isn't closed then so be it.
No its more. In SK you are not nerd if you love Games. In SK exists a progaming team from Air Force of SK. In which other country they have such a thing that the government supports a PC game? The infrastructure much better. They take gaming much mire serious.

Code A spots are ONLY for foreigners. There is no Code S spot for MLG Columbus it will start at the next MLG. Code S spots can be acquired by anyone winning the MLG no matter origin.
Sad foreigners are sad.
Koreans are better, we've had as much time with Sc2 as Korea yet foreigners are slacking and doing other shit like casting etc... focus on your game ffs why are you a progamer in the first place? Don't whine about race when we've seen time and time again any race can win a tournament, if you didn't win and you're a pro player it's your fault, Sc2 isn't at the level yet where people are playing perfect.
Code B is much tougher than the Open bracket so Code A is valued higher than Championship pool not because of prize money but because of how good you need to be to compete there. And you don't even have to win Code A to get a chance at Code S where the most money/fame/glory is obtained (you can still stay in the GOM house I'm sure). Winning Ro32 in Code S is like same money as 4th place MLG. You can still participate in online tournaments, we've seen how well the Koreans do in NASL for example. You're a pro player sacrifices need to be made, no sacrifice no reward. GSL goes out of their way to schedule a break when big international LANs occur so you can attend those as well. Koreans seems to want to practice with foreigners from reading DoAs post on the subject.
And once again when Koreans come to "our" events to take "our" money how are you gonna live of progaming now mr foreigners?!?
Also go FXO you're all nerd ballers for taking that step. Agreed with most of your post. Nice read :D
Must say i'm happy that foreigners and koreans play each other more often. I bet the fact that the koreans are dominating is only motivating the foreigners to train more.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ((
MMA doesnt get Code S slot... Oh well. I really hope he can get into Code S

A couple of things I want to note. MajOr did an incredible job at this event. Sheth and Slush are on the brink of breaking through that "next level" MLG have done an amazing job. So much so, that I have enough faith to already buy tickets to the next 2 events. Even an act of god didn't stop them. Now for the bombshell. I don't like the fact that Koreans have come through and taken *all* (top 3) the money. Yes, they provided the "best" play, and are incredibly solid/strong/gosu, however to have "The greater race" fly in for 3 days, walk away with $12,000, and leave isn't good for the foreigner scene. As is obvious, we have a pretty amazing audience now-days, but I don't believe we're giving the best foreigners the best chance at making this game viable. And if the best can't win an event like this, what is left for those at the brink of deciding whether or not they're going to dedicate their time/money/life to gaming, or to a 9-5 job. Just like I buy the items with the "Made in Australia" tag over those made in China, I feel we should support the NA scene more than we did at MLG Columbus. Either that, or make it equally viable for foreigners to go to Korea, as it is for Korea to come to NA (3 days for $5k, opposed to 1 month for $1500 in code A) Sincearly, Concerned fan. QUOTED FOR TRUTH! This should be on the front page of TL. If Koreans come into the western tournaments and take all the money then the western scene is dead. Players like Naniwa and Thorzain could not afford to attend these tournaments if they had not won previous ones. In the future those types of players simply won't show up, because it will be a given that the Koreans will win. I found it kinda funny how he talks about growing the NA scene and you talk about 2 europeans. How far is it okay to fly to steal your money? And since he quoted the first prize, $5k, why didn't he mention the other first prize, Code S? Everyone besides the Koreans paid their own way. The Koreans get a free invite to get some free money and kill the western scene. There is a huge difference. If a Korean wants to pay to come to an event and he wins I would support that and cheer him on. Also, as has been discussed, CODE A is the only thing available this tourny, and most all the pro's agree that Code A is a joke and they wouldn't even bother accepting. Can you stop saying kill the western scene
|
Can we please get some Mod to post about this thread about how the code s and code a will work for MLG. People keep saying things like MMA is now Code s and all this crap and it is getting annoying how ignorant people are spreading all of these rumors.

If Thorzain or Idra were this far I must agree, it would be much more entertaining as the Foreign scene has really taken to these two players. They seem to have touched a nerve. Naniwa, not so much, although he might be the best of the three.
Nationalism can breed racism... If your opponents in soccer or whatever all acted like you when they just got dominated then what would you think of them? You would probably start riding them for that?
