Ah, right. Either way, if Bratok really didn't show up because of what we're speculating in this thread...I don't know what to say. It's not like the rest of his games are unwinnable.

Bratok is the same guy who got invites to tournaments and then didn't show up multiple times due to visa issues. Once I can understand with a visa problem, after that there is no excuse.

I said at the start of NASL that there would be a problem with players turning up - they should have implemented a zero tolerance policy, if you miss a game due to anything that is within your control then you should be immediately ejected from the tournament and banned for life.
The NASL format doesn't help either, the groups are too large and the league phase is too long. Its quite sad, the foreign scene has been waiting for a tournament like this and the players are doing their best to destroy the foreign scene before it even gets started.
I hope the players that are ruining NASL fade into the background and are never heard from again, who is going to invite them to a tournament after this?

Such fucking disrespect. It's shameful.

Lol, banned for life... They could certainly have harsher consequences but come on.

That is the appropriate action, you need to discourage it. It would be even better if other tournaments came out and said that they won't be inviting players who don't honor their commitments to tournaments they enter.

So many walkovers this week. Are they due to MLG or are people just quitting on the league if they are out of playoff contention?
|
It's silly that the one tournament that made a big deal about requiring teams and fining players money for stuff is the one tournament with lots of walkovers. It could probably be prevented by casting from replays and letting players have all week to play the matches but they don't do that because of desync due to blizzard not having online replay watching making clash of the titans horrible after they hyped it up.
It would have probably been better if they just gave players a week to play, cast from replays and just one observer with both commentators seeing the same screen.

NASL has improved a ton since the start, don't ignore that. However, if they want to be competitive in the future they need to show THIS SEASON that they are willing to take action against players who blow them off. Publicize the players you don't return the $250 deposit to and ban those players in the future as well. It is completely unacceptable you have koreans staying up until 3 or 4 am to play their matches and then lazy people don't show up to play them. How do you think those koreans feel?

It's not like the guy that does show up doesn't get a win or anything. I don't get why you need a "ban for life" stance on No-Shows. The only person they're hurting is themselves.

It seems like this is an inevitable consequence of the format. People near the bottom have no incentive to play. Basically this part of the league is like a Regular Season in most sports, only without the salary. I couldn't imagine baseball players on weaker teams showing up to the 162nd game if they didn't have a salary.
|
Wow two walkovers this week... that's unexpected @_@
I guess people are saying it's because they're near the bottom? Still that's no reason not to show up. IIRC, the players have to make a deposit before the start of the league. Don't they lose that deposit with this kind of behavior?
|
I think ban for life is fair if you just don't show up without a reason ahead of time or a VERY good excuse (like "i was injured in a car crash"). There really is no excuse, it's just a sign they don't care very much and it's very disrespectful.
|
NASL needs to fix something quickly because they are being treated like a joke with players deciding it not worth their time to treat the NASL with any respect.
TBH I don't watch the NASL often and the snippets that I have seen didn't showcase any entertaining matches at all, but to see a new organisation suffer so many setbacks is pitiable.
|
Players need to inform the organizers ahead of time that they will not be showing up, not just suddenly dissappearing. The fucking person and casters and everyone else that was waiting for you just end up wasting time waiting for YOU! The stupid loser that won't even bother to inform them.
|
I bet if MC or Select were 0-7, they still would have showed up, or at least fucking called.
|
didn't watch the stream cause was watching MLG but just read:
"MC's hanging around at 3 in the morning the week he has to take on epic jet lag Goody is no where to be found NASL even gets someone who knows Goody to call his Personal phone and again gets no response 2-0 W.O. For MC Goody"
that sucks :/
