I'm excited for the schedule!
Question, with two matches being played per play date, how will FF's work. I know there is supposed to be a 2 hour difference between the matches, but what happens if our opponents match goes long, are we supposed to just sit and wait for them?
Will there be 2 independent check-ins for both matches on the same day?
Thanks

Only 1 other masters in my group, the rest are gold and a silver that lost every game he actually played and somehow made it through qualification...

Lol...I have 2 masters, 4 Diamonds and 3 Plats...Want to trade?

Sadly some of us were not lucky enough to have a group with people who wanted to show up and play. I logged on every game night and not one person in my division was ever online so I walked out of my division with 7 FFW. Was sad but that is what round 2 is for, people who actually show up.

Yes, FFL's count against your Ranking in some way, because I just confirmed I did move on despite losing matches to both the other players tied with me at 5-2, most likely because I not only gave the only loss to the 6-1 player in my group, but I had no FFL's. Thankfully, there are only 2 total FFL's in my current group, so at least I'll get to play all my matches this round.

Gah, Missed it by >< much.
I missed one game due to my ISP being fubar for the first time I can recall, and it seems to have been enough to drop me to third in my division. Tragic.

Wow I didnt get to advance because their laggy server on the first day lost my replay files and recorded it as a forfeit Tie. and the guy who advanced was 5-2 like me but i beat him when i played him.

You can only dispute 1 hour after they analyze your replay.

Im sure if you have the replay files of you winning if you contact someone it would have been resolved, too late now i guess.

FFW is assigned a fewer value than W ?
Besides, if you have a fewer wins because of the removed people due to inactivity in your group, there is no compensation for that? Currently, the people with 7 wins get a freebie over many other people who could have a max of 6 or 5 wins because of the removed people... The system doesn't make sense to me.

My group has two people who are 5-2, me and another guy. When we played each other I won, but Geforce advanced him because he beat silver people who gave up later on and gave me FFW instead of W.

Wait I thought that they would reset group standings before the start of the next round. Do you know for sure that prior round scores come into effect with the amount of FFW people experienced in the first round? Doesn't seem fair, only myself and 1 other player have had 7 games played...so we're up a match? Can't be right, I hope not.

Yea, that "strength of schedule" metric is punishing.
Both me and the guy that advanced in my group played three actual games. I went 2/1, he went 1/2 in his games. If you include FFW/FFLs we had 5/2 each. However since I had one FFL on my record (stupid ISP, not that I'm bitter), he advances and I do not.
|
I just checked my "qualifer group" standings, and yes. The records seem to be carried over. I understand FFL can have greater negative value than L, but having a disadvantage because of the removed inactive players is not fair at all.
|
I am 5-1, 10-0 in games played and 1 ffl, and behind 2 people that are 5-1 with 5 ffw and 0-2 games played. That surely makes a lot of sense.

anyone check the groups? it's doesn't actually seem "random" lol me and #2 from my prelim groups are in the group right next to eachother. So i thought it might be a fluke and checked other ppl from my group... and.... yeah.. not so random, it's just they made the list in order and put 'em back to back it seems o_O
Edit: Also.. it seems they didn't really care much for who was 1st in group, 2nd in group. My group has a lot more ppl who were #1 in their group than #2, while my next group has more ppl who were #2 in their group than #1... i guess that's the "random" part? top 2 from 9 prelim groups, and put 'em in 2 groups? Don't take this the wrong way, I'm really impressed with the way GeForce has be handling things (especially how quickly they fixed their bottleneck problem). I'm just wondering how "random" this grouping thing was.

I think we can officially conclude that this tournament system is a complete failure on the tournament organizers fault. I just figured out that I did not advance from my group. One of the players who did advance, however, was a bronze terran player who I stomped. The only reason that this bronze got wins was because of walkovers.
In the end the bronze terran went 4-2 in the group, with all his wins being walkovers, and all his losses being 0-2
In the end, I went 4-2 in the group HAVING BEATEN THE BRONZE TERRAN! Furthermore, I played out 2 of my wins, and 1 of my losses. 1 of my losses was a walk over because I didnt show up, but the other loss was a 1-2.
How does it make any sense that the bronze player should advance when we are both 4-2, with me taking a series off of the player, and the bronze player ONLY getting FFW?
