But he acted like Alicia had just landed a nuke on MC's army. You think a stalker getting one more shot off before getting picked off because it was left in the red is a big deal? It's not. It came down to build order losses. Alicia was able to stall his ramp long enough for an immortal to come out, which means he won. Second game he had the unit advantage. Micro had nothing to do with those games whatsoever. Rewatch the vods. Besides letting those stalkers live his micro was impeccable and he was able to hold off for an amazing amount of time despite behind down in units.

Last game was a mirrror build basically with alicia slightly edging out MC microwise. It wasn't a build order win at all. First game was a build order win as a defensive robo build beats 4 gate nowadays but it's still crazy hard to perform.
MC's tactics have never been his strongest point imo and the fact PvP has become tactically more demanding as 4 gate isn't as good anymore has hurt his chances I'd say. Also facing someone equal to him in micro and he lost.

Sigh... stop this discussion, I've been trying to explain people this kind of thing for weeks and gotten nowhere. They just don't understand a player "Isn't better" than another one by beating him in a series, they just "PLAYED better" that single series, which nobody argues.

You can argue that alicia hasn't been nearly as long in the spotlight, and I'll grant you that, it's still pretty clear that the favorites right now are MVP and nestea, maybe MKP, MMA and losira. Don't get too ahead of the facts.

Can you please not put MMA/Losira on the same level as MarineKing. One of these 3 has proven he can make it into these finals.. 3 times and should be a favourite.
That said I agree with the rest of your post. People overhype people like crazy(see MMA and Losira) just because Artosis yells out his bullsiht and everyone on TL feels like following suit.
How about we wait until people actually accomplish something. Alicia is obviously very good but MC has proven himself, Alicia hasn't gotten nearly as far yet.

How does that even make sense? What standards must one live up to before one can be called amazing before you feel it's overrating?

You two are forgetting bomber. The thing is, you can't just look at previous results and back up a player on them. The older their impressive results are the less relevant they become. Losira made it further than MKP last GSL. MMA and Losira are easily at MKP's level. MMA barely lost 2-1 to MKP in the up and downs, if that's any indication that they're relatively close. MKP even mentioned in his interview that MMA is a toughie. The scene is hugely competitive and new players are always infiltrating the scene, don't be surprised that previously successful players are being outplayed.
