am I the only one really disappointed by wcg? After seeing Dreamhack, MLG, GSL and even IEM/NASL to some extend this just didn't look good. I couldn't watch it live, but the vod system on gomtv is terrible, the vods themselves have such low quality that it's unpossible to watch on fullscreen, no studio for the english casters (the few vods I watched they only showed the korean casters while the english ones were talking) and a bo1 group + bo3 finals, single elim. is just stupid for such a "huge" tournament.

I haven't followed wcg the last years, but this just seemed miles away from other esports events

Xigua really didn't play "brilliant game" lets be honest... what did he do at all that was brilliant? All game he killed 1 CC and like 1 drop ship lol. MVP was toying with him.

He did well. I mean, he couldnt attack into the terran because his entire army would get sniped (Point proven by what xigua tried to do at the end) At the same time, his ultralisk army cant respond to cheap and effective drops being done all over the place. Do tell me what xigua could have done better. This guy won everyone else 2-0 all the way through. Why are you trying to make it sound like he's bad or something.

The problem is because he had poor showing in IEM and against MVP, everyone and their facebook friend is ready to completely shit on a young player in need of further development. I'm glad that he won't hear most of the stuff he's gonna receive from NA/EU observers.

I think outside of NA/EU, everyone already knows the chinese players are catching up fast. In fact, it shldnt surprise you if the standard of leagues are as following

KR > CN > EU > NA.

It was that way in BW and WC3, and imo, it already is that way in SC2.

Ppl just needs to drop their fan boy attitude and recognise that Xigua played a great tournament and was 2nd only to MVP.

How can you say that China is ahead of EU and NA already just after this tournament?

We'll need a bigger sample size before you can go ahead and say something like that. More Chinese players need to come out and play in more events. If anything, you sound like the fanboy here.

Im not a huge fan of the chinese players. What i was implying was that Chinese players will eventually catch up just like they did in WC3 and BW. Btw, OUTSIDE of NA/EU, ppl already knew how good Xigua is, and NA Pro has the ability to hold a top 20 KR spot for so long? I guess it shld be more like

KR > CN = EU > NA

If that makes you feel better.

Again, how are your rankings making any sense? How can you name only one Chinese player that is good and then go on to say CN = EU? You're jumping the gun. Until more Chinese players come out to more events and show their skill, you can't just make that assertion. You're making assumptions that have YET to come true by saying "eventually" and then making your rankings based off of future predictions.

Search the KR ladder and count how many CN players are in the top 200. I think JesusOurSaviour has given a few couple of post above. They might not have more exposure than the NA EU guys(Due to sponsorship i assume), but that doesnt mean the standard of their play is lower. LIke i said, the majority of ppl who still think CN is a weak server are mainly from NA and EU. There are some CN players who are on par or even better than ppl like Idra/Huk. The SEA players knows that, the KR/TW players knows from playing with them on the ladder everyday.

As for the future predictions, which Blizzard RTS game doesnt end up with KR > Chinese > The rest?

Learn to place the blame properly. There's nothing wrong with VOD system of GOM. Same system used for GSL. The quality your're referring to is the exact same quality as WCG broadcasted. The vods are just capture of the stream footage. Nothing more.

I don't blame GSL, I only blame WCG. Surely GOM could make the vod system better (aka not removing the schedule, but that is a critique about their new site and not wcg), I am only talking about the WCG in my post

Yeah, this was my first time watching WCG, and I was pretty disappointed. Vague schedule, few games (Bo1 groups, Bo3 semis and finals), fewer broadcasted games, really poor video quality. To be fair, I guess the point of WCG is to gather players from all over the world to represent their countries, not necessarily to show off the best of the best, so I guess it doesn't matter as much as if it were trying to be a major SC2 tournament like GSL or MLG. I was just a bit surprised.

well, you have to take into account there are so many other games as well.

personally, i enjoyed it. streams look fine to me (quality wise). only hiccup was some games broadcasted did not have commentary but thats not that bad i guess.

It's rather amusing how people get all upset when someone calls MVP bonjwa. I mean, does it really matter? He is by far the most dominating player currently on the scene (as the picture posted earlier really shows) - it doesn't really matter if we call him bonjwa or not.

I think only the english stream was bad quality.
The korean stream had 720p HD quality, and the production of ongamenet is by far the best of any SC2 tourament by far.

It seems only fair that the player that dominated 2011 wins WCG. Props to xigua for making it to the finals, but MVP is just better at every aspect of the game and it showed.

Most of us have learned over the years not to expect much from WCG

How do you know IEM wasn't the fluke tourney?

based on China's RTS history for he past decade, I'd say IEM was the fluke tourney and WCG was average and expected.

I got to say, I really enjoyed this finals, even though it looked one-sided.

I thought that Xigua played very good Zerg, but I was just in awe at MVP's play! His multitasking, even when he lost his middle Planetary Fortress, was just mind-blowing. He didn't skip a beat, he didn't seem shaken at all - if anything, it seemed to really kick him into high gear, and he just started doing a million things at once.

It was CRAZY. I got Slayers Boxer-esque shivers watching that. I found it very exciting to watch .

Mvp had 29 ghosts including those 21 ghost + another 5 ghost in that rectangular one + 2 in upper right side and + 1 ghost nuking in 11 direction.

His macro and decision making in that game 2 was just beyond the imagination...

the best game in my life!
