That's true. I can't remember exactly how far ahead his vikings were when Chill lagged out, I'll have to rewatch the game.
It's unfortunate that chill caused lag and were disconnected. He has apologized but he caused unnecessary tension and in my opinion it affected naniwa more/worse.

It was fate that led to day9 solo casting at the end, it was amazing. It's like day9 didn't have to hold back, he had the mic to himself to go all out.
It was amazing. day9 reacted perfectly and casted the shit out of those last 15 mins.
I was shivering in excitement since the colossus behind the expo

wait... ThorZain dont build thors?

Guys, Chill made a mistake. We all do it. We're all human after all. It just happened to be at possibly the worst time for it to ever happen. There's no point banging on about it, he's apologised. What more can he do? It's not like he can go back in time and prevent it from happening. Only make sure it never happens again.
Tbh i respect his honesty. He could have bullshitted us all and just said his computer froze or played dumb. A recent major tournament did do this and got caught out. He admitted it was his fault and apologised. Let's move on and not let it take away from one of the best series in SCII to date.

where can you watch the replays?

I was expecting chill to be boring, but im very glad i was wrong
very very good casting combo, i especially liked the excitement when thorzain did that EPIC hold, which i wish the interviewer asked him about after the game

It may have caused unnecessary tension, but the tension was obviously equal for both players. Then the players may handle it different, but thats also a matter of crisis managment. Possible tecnical issues must be taken into preparation for a live match.

This could have been a totally different game if he listened to naniwa. In a tense moment such as the last game in a bo7 the disconnection could have played a factor. Naniwa had to focus on whether chill would stay in the game or not and during that moment naniwa had a great opportunity to expand. Chill couldn't know that he would disconnect but I hope he prepared his computer for a lag free casting session. I think he should apologize to both players especially naniwa.
I think it also had to do with being 3-1 up. yes that was certainly also a factor but the disconnection was another factor that played into the hands of thorzain How did Chill lagging play into the hands of Thorzain? It affected both players equally, there was no advantage for one player or the other. Thorzain kept his cool in the situation while Nani didn't. Naniwa was in a much more vulnerable position. Had he lost concentration for even a second vikings could have killed his collosi, and he also had to worry about ghosts. Thorzain was in a much more comfortable spot, having the high ground and knowing Naniwa had to go all the way around to attack with his whole army. Since Thorzaine also had the reactive role being on the defensive, any extra seconds to think about his next move would also benefit him. Maybe it didn't matter and shit happens, but if it benefited any player it was Thorzaine, even disregarding nerves.
This has got to stop.
Every time someone lags in a game now, there's this ridiculous discussion about whether it "affected" them. What does that even mean? You can stretch the phrase "affected" to cover damn near anything, and it's annoying to see every NASL thread and the TSL finals thread filled with people using contorted logic to explain away why their favorite player lost.
I mean, look at the text of your post. You're trying to say that a 10-second pause hurt Naniwa. Naniwa, who had a 30 SUPPLY LEAD, better tech, and a fantastic position at Thorzain's nat.
That 10-second pause didn't make Naniwa try to break Thorzain. It didn't force him to make a bad decision and attack when he could have expanded again, added on gateways and maintained his light contain. It didn't affect him in any meaningful way, it doesn't mitigate the fact that he was outplayed, and it doesn't excuse his loss or take anything away from Thorzain.
Now can we please put this ridiculous bullshit to rest and stop bringing up latency or lag or pausing in every TL thread?

This man speaks sense.
We must immediately burn him at the stake, lest this spreads.

It didn't happen 6 out of 7 games...it was a fluke, lets move on.
edit: This is what you get when the community complains until they get what they want (live games).
edit 2: The fact of the matter is it affected both players equally in technical terms, if NaNiwa got metagamed because of it that is his problem and it's part of the game.

couldn't agree more, in fact it gave naniwa more time to think how he should play it out ;P

thorzain was right, nani killed enough scvs and buildings, it was time to go home get 3rd, but got too greedy and lost

Lol 10sec pause affects naniwa to lose? Why not pause the game everytime player faces naniwa, free win... not

I really think people are reading too much into the lag. Anyways, I'm personally going to ignore that, but seriously, what an AWESOME series!!!

You shouldn't get shit for having IRC open because there's no way that was causing the lag unless a dedicated attack is going on by a person with a botnet in a channel you are in. I find it amazing people still don't understand that the Internet is just very fragile if you need an uninterrupted connection. ISPs are rebooting routers for update and changing routes all the time so random lagging while routes re-establish is a given and there's nothing you can do about it. The way people assumes all lag is client-end pisses me off.
