yea, its so hard to keep track of all these foreigners when we don't get to see them play in team leagues or something. of these 4, i only really knew of Naniwa before the TSL.
|
Im sorry but thats false, there are team leagues that foreigners play in.. SGL for example http://www.sgleague.net/ there have been others aswell. Just because you choose not to follow the european or non korean scene doesnt mean it is not there.

It actually doesn't make sense to talk about war3 vs bw players anymore. When sc2 was first released wc3 players played really, really, really bad. One-base aggressive bullshits that worked because no one knew the game well enough to stop it properly. Naniwa was among those players.
But the successful sc2 players that came from wc3 play starcraft. They're sc2 players; not wc3 players. I can't imagine anyone thinking the talent pool of bw was somehow greater than that of wc3 in terms of gaming skill so the whole discussion is pretty pointless.
|
^ so what you are saying is wc3 players won at the beginning because they played the game worse than everyone else, and now are winning because they are playing starcraft 2, not warcraft 3. You're right this discussion is pointless.
|
I think people are forgetting that sc1 and sc2 are completely different games here. The macro is not nearly as difficult and the game has been out long enough for just about anyone to succeed so it's not that big of a surprise imo that war3 players are caught up by now and also most of the bw transfers weren't even the best of the best (at least not when they transferred). Although personally I still think that sc1 players still have a bit of an edge overall.

No, what he's saying is that it's pointless to refer to them as WC3 players anymore, when they don't even play the game and it's pretty obvious that their WC3 background didn't have much (if anything) to do with their success in SC2.
The only reason the whole WC3 stuff is ever brought up now is because a lot of WC3 fans were butthurt that Brood War players were considered superior (which is true) before SC2 came out, and now see the current balance of power in SC2 in the foreign scene as a good excuse to say "look at how wrong you were lol", even though that argument makes no sense at all.
|
I mean everyone knows that Brood War players piss gold and excel at everything they do. WC3 players could never measure up to the greatness that is a Brood War player. I'm pretty sure that Nobel laureates are inferior to the Brood War player.

yes, that's it. i remember the BW people always saying stuff like War3 not being a worthy game at all compared to broodwar skillwise, the main argument which pissed everyone in the war3 community off was that every war3 player, even the best, only played war3 because they were too bad for broodwar and wouldnt even be able to compete at a low level there.
now the war3 community sees the oppurtunity to pay back some of that ignorant bull****. hate generates more hate, ya know.

what? i dont see any of the 4 teams represented by the 4 players remaining in the TSL on that site. that only helps prove my point.

but BW people still say War3 people are too bad for BW. they call most people that play SC2 too bad for BW, whether they were from BW, War3, or a non-blizzard RTS.

Cruncher put on a great PvP series, I really liked the phoenix build. Haters gonna hate, can't deny he did well in the TSL.
For being a 3-0 series boxer v.s. hasu was crazy close and extremely entertaining. I wish more success for the emperor in the future, what a bad ass. HasuObs vindicates me in my defense of the templar nerf. High templar are awesome even against super sharp ghost micro. Great casting, great games, TSL FTW!

This dicussion is pointless, I'm just happy so many european former WC3 players are doing so good because I watched them back in the WC3 days

If they are good enough to beat gsl champions it makes sense to that they would easily make code s. -.- Not every1 wants to move to korea? And besides there are enough tournaments for them to play in and also weekly online tournaments, while in korea it's just gsl...
Also i kinda find it funny that people outside of europe keep underestimating european players... i didn't expect boxer to have a chance vs a trained hasu at all for example.
And i also predicted thorzain to beat mc, seeing how he lost to lesser terran players in gsl.

Thank god that Cruncher scrub is out. I don't think anyone hates him for knocking out IdrA, it's his retarded playstyle and the fact that he actually think he has any skill in this game.

I'm also glad Cruncher is out, mainly because of his playstyle but also because Naniwa is swed
But saying Cruncher have no skill at what he does is very wrong..

BW elitist behaviour always went on my balls.

I there a forum where we don't call players names, whine about balance, and actually analyze games and live report?
Posts like yours is just disgusting and adds nothing. Maybe you should have like 100 posts w/o ban before being allowed to participate in LR threads since 99% of junk are from low counts.
