ThorZaIN is sooooo good. He owned MC completely in 3 of 4 matches when they played straight up and the one he lost was on ridiculously toss favoured Tal'Darim Altar. Please Mr ThorZaIN, don't scare your fans like this again - giving your opponent a freebie with
Bancheese on XNC when the next map is Tal'Darim. We know you can own any Toss and Zerg straight up. T.T

I hate how people like jalstar are derailing this thread away from what Thorzain has done and how entertaining the series was. Shut up dude. Nobody cares whether you think MC is a better player, or how badly Thorzain is going to lose to Kas. Jesus.

Thorzain showing he's able to get the same result as MarineKing, could absolutely compete in GSL.

I doubt that, even Thorzain show great play here, but GSL is a difference stage. Its where your opponent gonna study you day and night, find every replay,VOD of you, find out your every BO and counter you.
GSL also being played in booth which add alot of pressure on players. For some players, that pressure alone will just break them before their opponent does.

Thorzain was a good human at warcraft 3, so he is able to compose with pressure. Game 4 is a good example

anyone think mc shouldnt have hallucinated that many immortals ? i saw about 7 or 8 of them, so it was kinda obvious that he halu'd them since they were in such great numbers... maybe if he'd have only halu'd a few of them thorzain wouldve wasted strike cannons on those instead of the colossi?

just throwin that out there, by no means do i really understand pvt

Well, sentries weren't going to do a hell of a lot against thors (1-2 guardian shields to reduce viking damage i suppose), so he may as well hallucinate and try to absorb as much dmg as possible.

As to whether to hallucinate immortals vs something else...hard decision to make, and prob the right call. Def well-played by thorzain making sure to scan as soon as raven detection wasn't there.

Guy loses 3-2 in extremely hard fought back-and-forth series, is "clearly the better player". Love it!

Other than the strategic blunders, yes. How do you think it was a close series despite those blunders?

This is no insult to Thorzain. His builds are excellent. His execution is not notable however.

In what ways did the execution falter?

Thorzain was the better player in that game vs MC, but MC's the better player overall obviously. Thorzain's pretty much has no name while MC's won two GSLs. So it was an upset in a sense, but the play was beautiful from both players.

Thorzain can beat Naniwa, Kas cannot. Kas is going to own Thorzain in TvT therefore Naniwa is going to take it all.

Pretty sad that Thorzain and Kas cannot meet in the finals but Naniwa is pretty entertaining to watch too.
And then do you know what happens all of a sudden? Trumpets!!

You know if mass thor (with strike cannons and hellions as minerals sinks) really catches fire on battlenet with no adequate counter by Toss...Blizzard could really be kicking themselves for nerfing feedback on Thors...that was the one true counter to Thors Strike Cannon > Immortals and Vikings >>> Void Rays)

How can someone be "clearly the better player" if they make several strategic blunders?

OTHER THAN THEM. God, how many times do I need to rewrite that? His micro/macro etc were better. His builds, upgrade timing etc were not at all.

I'm a bit sad that MC lost... but crazycool thor build by Thorzain in the last game!

I hope he can beat Kas (who is playing so repetitive... really boring to watch)!

Great series, still would consider MC the better player overall though. Win % in mirror match ups are very different, and MC does have 2 GSL titles.

Who is the better overall player?....

MC was the the player with more past success.
And I think that ThorZaIN was the better prepared player.

But I believe that if we ask this question a few months from now, i think it's more likely that we will say ThorZaIN was the better player overall. :-D

I'm not talking about that series. Thorzain was better prepared and deserved the win in this series. I'm referring to the pages of people saying that Thorzain is better in general.

It's funny how people still are claiming that Thorzain just got lucky or isn't "really" better, even after he taken out nesTea and MC.

He didn't take out NesTea, he took out FruitDealer who isn't beating anyone lately. His TvP is good enough to take out MC who's been losing PvTs left and right and his other two matchups are nearly non-existent. The hype is ridiculous.

I think Thorzain's strongest skill is his ability to pull of several different strategies and making them look like he's played them forever. MC could have beaten any of Thorzains strats if he had done the same ones in all 5 games but he played with enough variety to not allow MC to hard-counter him from the start. If you add great macro and pretty good micro you have a recipe for success.

Throzain was the better player this day. On other days, MC might be better, but today, it is Thorzain.

Give the man some credit. He has shown not only top mechanics, but also ingenious builds designed to crush his opponent through exploiting their vulnerabilities. His understanding of the TvP match up is simply above that of most other Terran players in the world. He deserves this victory.
