Yesterday's broadcast has had its issues. We all saw it. There are 10+ pages of whining. There is an entirely new cast going on now. Please keep whining about issues experienced yesterday to yourself going forward in the thread and allow other people to enjoy the games. |

Of course he has improved, but lets not forget that Nestea was the one who eliminated him, so it wasn't a shameful departure.

Sen is such a beast. It felt like he was dead when that roach push came to his door and he just... had more? somehow?
Oh and I just want to reiterate to make sure it doesn't get lost in the other events of today, but in game sound is only barely audible if you turn the cast up quite loud(then obviously the casters are too much).

I'm hoping they skip to airing Drewbie vs Boxer and then go back to the other match.
I really don't want to go through an already half-spoiled match to watch what I consider the main event.
I really just want to watch Drewbie vs Boxer at this point.

Nothing even close to being remotely offensive, just slightly bad taste, some people are too sensitive to anything, I recommend them not trying Mortal Kombat 9 or The Witcher 2.

2. This was a mistake. It's really really bad. I know the NASL is upset about it and will fix it. There is no way to go back in time.. but please know we are sorry.
3. Maps were updated. There is no legitimate argument for using the outdated maps. That too was a mistake overlooked by not consulting the pro players of the squad (me and gretorp). It has been rectified.
Some inside info:
The NASL isn't a bustling studio of 30 people. It's 5 production people and 2 commentators. We are hiring out professional help for the sound (after the problems) we consult pro's on the stage etc... but we are not some huge broadcasting company. When people say "mistakes like this shouldn't happen.. you need to watch for mistakes!" They do. They do the best they can. A lot of these guys are running off of 4 or less hours a night. Encoding, editing, doing graphics etc.. all each day after this schedule. Do they want your sympathy? No. No they do not. Do they expect better results than what we have produced? MORE THAN YOU KNOW. Nobody is more pissed than Russ and co after each mistake.
This is the first week. None of them came from a broadcasting / league background. All of them are chasing a dream and trying to do it to the best of their abilities. When we make mistakes please tell us with all of this in mind. If you STILL feel the need to say "FIRE X" or "THIS IS FUCKING TERRIBLE" then I guess go ahead and do that.
I get to wake up in the same house as these people and watch them go at it for another 16 hours each day.
It is absolutely unacceptable to make these mistakes and they will not be made continuously. As they happen they get fixed asap. In the end it makes us better. We were never planning on 1 season so we have time to fix these things. Ideally, would they never have happened? OF COURSE. Is it possible to have caught these faster? CERTAINLY. But we didn't and we are sorry. Please understand the sheer effort and work that is going into this. This league is growing and it has growing pains. It also has amateur mistakes and huge errors. All of which will be sorted out as they come up.
I'm sure most everyone appreciates the honesty, accountability and full disclosure, but for paying customers, I don't think reading about how the production team has little experience in broadcasting tournaments is a good thing. I think most people are learning some hard lessons from MLG and NASL. Don't pay for a product until you know what the product is. Please stop. I really get annoyed with all this extremist language. It's not even the end of the first week yet and people are STILL getting top quality games. yes there are issues but they are being fixed as fast as they can (usually the next day). I really get annoyed when people assume 25$ is wasted because the first week wasn't perfect. There is absolutely no extremist language there, that's a very well articulated post and he has a very good point. Why in the world would you hire people (not even enough people at that.. 5.. really?) with NO broadcasting/league experience.. it makes no sense and makes it look like the NASL is just trying to make a quick buck with a skeleton crew of cheap workers. The production is a nice ribbon, but we're all watching NASL for the matches between top level players.
Perhaps you can call it "unprofessional" but ultimately what matters, way more than anything else, are the games being shown. There have been some hiccups there too, but we are getting a ton of games by a lot of top level players. That should be everyone's #1 priority by a long shot.

Most startups begin with a very small number of employees. They have to keep the worker count down to save on costs and maximize efficiency.
And why would anybody with broadcasting experience join this company? It's an extremely small, risky startup operating in a market that no Western company has yet succeeded in (e-sports). Of course the people running it are inexperienced; anybody with a career to lose would stay as far away as possible.

Quick question: Drewbie vs Boxer is still on, right?
Edit: Never mind, I'm just wayyyy too impatient. Also, <3'ing the NASL so far. Haven't seen every match but the ones I have seen I enjoyed.

Not to mention that the game vs. Nestea was very close and could have gone either way. I wonder how it would have turned out if it wasn't LT close positions

Back on the topic of the games, I've been really impressed with Sen lately. The series with Boxer was epic, and he just flat out nailed ZvZ tonight. Well played.
|
Anyone know the reason they turn the stream off after every series? It resets me back to 1080p which then lags.

I know you're making an effort iNcontroL. It's just been so much "lately", with MLG, and now a few issues in a row with NASL. I don't regret buying the premium (or whatever the hell you guys call it), though. It's still the first season, and I am getting to see a lot of good games, with - most of the time - good casting and production.
And to be honest, before this began (maybe around the Clash of the Titans) I was a little bit skeptical about you and Gretorp as casters. I like you both, like your personalities, etc, but I wasn't sure it was going to work. But it's working, and though there's obviously some kinks to work out (which you are clearly aware of yourselves), it's just the first season. Hell, it's the first few weeks of the first season.
Thanks for doing it, and please don't collapse in the common e-sport'y fashion.

I'm pretty satisfied with NASL so far. I don't really care about production values, and I hit the mute button when things get annoying. I come for the games, and so far NASL has delivered some great games from good players at a very nice pace.
The map thing is the worst slip-up yet, and it does bother me (especially since Tyler was on the receiving end); but I know that it will be fixed, and excited about what the NASL has in store for us.
Been impressed by Incontrol as well. Some of his SOTG stuff has really hit me the wrong way in the past, but he's been very mature, responsible, and level-headed in his NASL dealings. Kudos.

Glad to hear that InControl and NASL in general are paying attention to critiques and working hard on improving. Good for them. At the same time, though, the amount of whining on these LR threads is so incredibly annoying. I read these because I want to know what the community thinks about the GAMES. Can we please try to keep the over-entitled bitching about the casting or the sound or the halftime show down to a dull roar? Thank you.
