Just wondering, maybe the whole dokdo thing was MKP saying SC2 is not really disputed territory and is owned by Koreans just like in SC1? Could be wrong though, maybe someone can enlighten me

Have you ever read a single interview by MarineKing? He wouldn't do that.. he's pretty much the most humble player I've seen.

It's related to something that was released yesterday. Considering it was written in English though, I somehow doubt it was his idea to do it in the first place.

i agree, but what the heck did it mean?

http://english.hani.co.kr/arti/english_edition/e_national/470809.html

There's no excuse for him doing it though and it makes me sad, it doesn't suit someone like him at all. Would've been better if he had done a ceremony towards his foreign fans or something but oh well

moon had an excuse at least since it obviously wasn't his idea

I honestly have zero idea what MKP did wrong? Did he insult anyone? Did he even jokingly insult anyone like Moon? I don't even know why you even brought Moon up in the first place.

Moon made a racist remark.. just like MKP in this case.

Did you read the article? Or have you not seen MarineKing's ceremony?

Are you referring to when Moon said 'Koreans own white dudes'? Wasn't Carmac the first person to say it in an article and it later became an inside joke between them? If anything, it's Carmac that can be called out. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd like to know the story behind Moon.

Yes Carmac has been saying this for years.

Look up his Lantics interviews if you can find them. He always asked BW players at wcg if koreans own white dudes (like his interview with testie/draco/maybe idra(?) etc).

Lol I remember when Zerg and terran was owning and we were calling them op.

I think MC changed up this whole thing cause he came out with the 4 gate push and he started showing what force fields can really do and everyone started coping him.

Now with his playstyle people are calling protoss op.

We just need to hope for a zerg/terran mastermind to come up with something strong for their race to start owning again.

Seems inappropriate for mkp to try to shove a political issue into a SC2 tourny. Especially since the vods are all free in order to try to raise money to help Japanese tsunami victims. Bringing up the issue will only risk inflaming negative feelings towards either Japan or SK.

Let us not have anyone make conclusion regarding the appropriateness of bringing political material into SC2 scene. The matter is much more complicated than what you see on the surface.
There should be a separate post for it if TL admins allow it.

And lastly Koreans played dominantly today because they had the opportunity & time to prepare for their match ups. It makes a huge difference when a progamer gets to know their opponent and prepares for the games.

um what? if anything the foreigners had more time and opportunity to prepare for the koreans who have been broadcasted many, many, many times. If anything, koreans had absolutely no idea except for Jinro's play.

You seem to be missing my point completely.
I'm saying Koreans practicing made the difference between their lack luster performance in TSL3 and other online tourneys vs. their dominance in world championships so far (and plus some other reasons).

For TSL and what not, Korean progamers went into the games not preparing for them - they had other priorities such as GSTL, etc.
For this however, I'm sure Korean progamers put in ample time to get to know their opponent and to practice on effective builds.

I believe what he means is that they knew exactly who they were going to play and were able to prepare for them (many replays are available of the foreigners), where as in the team play they didn't know who would be playing who

if you don't know the issue regarding dokdo, you should shut up.
no,
1) mkp is not racist.
2) mkp would not pull out something arbitrary out of his ass just so he can offend japanese regarding korean-japanese relations at a progaming tournament
3) dokdo has been an extremely long and highly publicized and emotional conflict in korea and japan. every single korean person knows about it (not korean american). so it's an extremely important issue in korea.
4) which means it carries a lot of meaning to koreans and japanese
5) which means, no, it's not just a random racist remark
6) and plus, it's not even remotely racist in the first place
7) imo, mkp probably did this to increase awareness of the issue since he knows many foreigners are watching the world championships. foreign countries, notably US, don't want to acknowledge the clear fact that dokdo is a korean island since US don't want to anger Japan, which is a key economic/political ally and more importantly, US has no incentive for themselves to declare the truth about dokdo so many ppl don't know about this issue which is such an emotional issue for koreans.
8) so take this opportunity to learn some history (or just don't say anything) and stop bitching and making the tl community look pathetic.

Jinro - shades on indoors is dorky.

the QQing is obviously believable since this is teamliquid aka foreigner biased forums which i don't have a problem with.

if White-Ra (or other foreign player) was playing like MC, there'd be no balance whining about the protoss deathball or what not as everyone would be chanting "ZOMG WHITE-RA SO GOOD" "WHITE-RA IS GOD" "OMFG WHITE-RA SO BALLER" "WHITE-RA ROFLSTOMPING KOREAN NOOBS"

this is a forum so this is understandable. not many tl fans have much hindsight.

but one thing i do have a slight problem with is that yesterday, i could tell tasteless was feeling a bit uncomfortable with Artosis's bias during the commentary (as other tl members have observed as well) and i think if bias affects the accuracy of the commentary, then it becomes a problem. but i could have interpreted tasteless's uncomfortable-ness wrong yesterday too....

Which games in particular did you feel Tasteless was uncomfortable with Artosis' bias? I would like to check it out because I didn't pick up on this.

I actually agree with what SOTG (Tyler, Incontrol) etc...

MC doesn't show that much skill, all he does is abusive builds. When you watch Bisu from BW, you are in awe at the game sense and multitasking.

Watching MC you don't feel you are watching anything special, except a abusive Protoss.

MC actually made a pretty good point when he defeated July.. he said "July never forced me to go beyond gateway tech". He basically does these builds because he knows they're effective, and that they win games.

Once other players start figuring him out, he'll start showing more strats and remain on top. He really knows nearly every way to play protoss possible, he just doesn't use them because he doesn't really need it to win.

Yeah its not racist, it is probably also warranted, I dunno I don't know anything about this conflict.

BUT the conflict is not what is important here, its is the fact that this is a political statement in a eSports broadcast. What if 88]iNcontrol was a neo-nazi and wrote some white supremacy bullshit? I am NOT saying that these two statements are the same in any other way than that they are political statements.

The games become less enjoyable for me when the commentators are apparently biased for the foreigners. This reminds me back of GSL1 when they hyped up IdrA and TLO.

Jinro losing like that is rather unexpected, I thought he will go through and fight MC. He should focus back on the game, and less about other stuff.

XD

wtf?
Can't people wear sunglasses nowadays without being believed to refer to any older guy?

OK there is a few amount people wearing sunglasses in- and out-doors.
There is many people not caring at all.
And there is a few people jealous of the first group and calling them what ever.

Wearing darkened glasses (with correction btw) myself for many years I know that people hate on one.
But they don't actually know why.

It's just a matter of livestyle.
Like a haircut or a t-shirt.
Honestly: The glasses that ALL the Korean pros wear, I would only consider for a bad taste party...

It seems like the Koreans play significantly better when there's money on the line compared to their lack of performance in the Team Leagues... but they also had a day or two to prepare builds for their respective opponents.

Especially when the matches that are for money are in the coming two days later.
They didn't really have a reason to go 100%.

If they hosted it like a month after the Team League, the Team League would probably have produced slightly better games.

3 Toss. 3 Toss win.

The problems not toss being OP. There units are better but they cost more. With all these pro's liking "macro games" they are screwing themselves. max armies toss should win. Answer. Cheese the shit outa them. massive agression too
