I love the fact that fnatic alone took out the series...

Lets see if they are serious or not, tomorrow, tomorrow is the proof.
The next tournament results will be for me the real proof if international community is rather getting their foots near code S material...

Lan environment, big prizes, NO excuses.

You see pros losing on streams to random ladder people. Foreigners had the chance to go to Korea in BW but everyone but Idra hated it because of the amount of training you had to do just to be pretty good. Now foreigners are in Korea because you don't have to the same amount of practice to win vs top players. If you had to put in the mandatory hours in Sc2 just to be mechanically sound I bet there would be no TL house. They probably play some a day and just have fun but practice more before big matches and in Sc2 that's good enough.

Waiting for the next matches where they have been saving the best players. Although I'm surprised they used Sen so fast.
SC2 was doomed from the start.

Awesome thanks for the link. Some interesting stuff in there. At 17min, Sen says he thinks Forcefield is overpowered in PvZ.

So reading this thread makes my head hurt.

You're saying that Nada won 3 OSLs and 3 MSLs which means he is obviously more skilled

Then when people point out that he did obvious mechanical errors (losing first banshee, getting supply blocked, not expanding while toss can't leave his base), you say: oh, but he doesn't practice

So did Nada loose because the game is too random and "volatile" or because he did obvious errors and didn't practice enough?

I personally didn't see anything random in TT1's win. It wasn't even a BO win, as TT1 sinked 600 minerals into static defense and still lost a few probres and units. He was pinned to his base and Nada didn't bother to use it
More GGs, more skill

Just watched this. Holy crap. Gom tournaments just get more and more epic and amazing. Also I'm laughing my ass off at all the idiots during the TSL this weekend saying koreans only lost cause of lag and whining over and over how the tournament was so stupid cause koreans would destroy without lag. What now idiots? This is just proof that the world is catching up to korea, even if they lose the overall tourney, they won 4 games off top koreans already and that is proof enough. Korea is still ahead probably, but the gap is alot alot smaller than it was in BW and kids acting like koreans just own foreigners easily are morons.

This isn't sc1, esports have become alot more popular and streaming has taken off, nonkoreans can actually play the game professionally and make a living so they can play as much as koreans now. Not to mention the game isn't 10 years old, so its not as hard for newer people to catch up to pros who have been playing bw forever. I love gomtv for putting this together, please support them by buying tickets in future tournaments.

Nice interviews. Whats up with the foreigners thinking that the koreans didnt play serious though?

Idk, I think it was around those carrier questions, so maybe because san chose carriers and Sen thinks they suck and thus infers that the Koreans did not play seriously. Plus, he said he wouldntve won against MKP under normal circumstances.

I really like the part where she asks Morrow about the Swedish pro house with TLO and he first says "No, this is just a rumour" and then says "I cannot talk about it right now" :D
And WhiteRa "Why I am baller? Idk ask my wife" :D

Sen's made that clear far before this interview....

Anyway, I don't have time to watch the entire interview right now, but why did Sen say the Koreans weren't playing seriously? Was Sen and the other world players just being really humble, or was there something about their play that indicated they weren't being serious? If it's true, it's pretty disappointing.... Maybe they want to throw off the foreigners for the actual 16-person tournament coming up, since that's worth money?

Either way, it could very well be true, but I find it rather disappointing and a bit annoying that the foreigners think that the Koreans didn't play their best. However, I don't know the whole story. Maybe they see the showmatch as just a fun, friendly thing to mess around in - maybe they're not aware how badly many people on TL want to use the showmatch as a gauge for how well foreigners match up to Koreans, given the TSL controversy.

It's pretty lame though. I remember when I'd beat opponents that I thought were very good in badminton during practice, only to hear from other people that my opponent wasn't really trying for one reason or another.

I think this is a good thing though. If professional soccer players needed to train for 10+ hours a day, soccer wouldn't be that big of a sport. (this counts for almost any sport)

This isn't about people making excuses, though. Our very own foreign players are saying that the Koreans didn't play seriously, for some reason. Why would our foreign players try to downplay their very own achievements to such an extent if they didn't feel that it was true? The only thing I can think of is a huge amount of humility on our foreigner's parts.

MC said that Alicia is the second best and San is the third best Protoss in an interview following his March GSL win. Don't know about any more recent interviews, though.

WOW big surprise! I guess many of these foreigners are better than I thought :D

Or are they all just playing on NA server so that the Koreans lag xD

Hold your horses, first you're generalizing and remember this is only Day 1. So that's just insult to injury.

I'm sure that is it. That is what the 1v1 tournament that actually has a prize pool is for. I also doubt the koreans players really want to reveal too much of their strategy so close to that tournament.

about what MC said during his interview in the GSL nominations VOD:

+ Show Spoiler +

MC said he lost against a foreigner in the recent TSL match??? he also later joked that MVP, MKP, and Genius got knocked out by foreigners and that they need to practice harder, but i'm pretty sure the first thing he said was referring to himself losing. is this a spoiler result for the TSL ro16???

they don't play the matches 2 weeks in advance dood, think a little, it helps

hey smart guy, you do realize the TSL matches actually ARE played well in advance right? because it's an online tournament and not played/broadcasted live, once two players know who they're matched against for the next round, they have a wide window of time to mutually decide when to play their matches, as long as they submit the replays before the designated deadline.

for example, djwheat & day9 mentioned last weekend that one of the ro32 matches was played back in January! so yeah, it was and is totally possible that some of the TSL ro16 matches have already been played even though the public cast is 2 weeks away!

thanks to the people who said MC was probably talking about the FXOpen though.

Also I agree that the koreans weren't playing that seriously. Probably because they have specific builds prepared for the bracket tourney. I mean a mothership seriously? Though I still think tonight will have very different results even without them playing 'seriously'.

Also I should say that just because I don't think they are playing seriously doesn't mean I don't think the foreigners played extremely well and I should restate it. I don't think the koreans prepared like they do for the regular GSL where they prepare specific builds for every map for each match up. I think most of them are just relying on their fundamentals for this team thing.
