In this case though, I'm fairly certain we're correct. Anyway the patch came out today in Korea, this will definitely affect the final. I think it'll help IM because I believe the patch is a buff to Zerg more than other races and they have Losira and Nestea while SlayerS only has Min and maybe YuGiOh (but i haven't noticed him so far this team league). Maybe a coaching advantage will help one team or the other in this situation (Cella has certainly been on top of lineup picks, but IM coach is no slouch himself). How do you guys think patch 1.3 will affect the match? Went with IM for one reason: Terran debuffs (Buker Time increase, EMP change, stimpack time increase).
Protoss changes may effect Alicia, but also effect Seed and Yongwha.
Zerg changes surely benefit IM more than SlayerS, but Infestors are rarely used and Losira + Nestea would not have experimented enough with the changes to be confident instantly using them (perhaps?).
Terran changes, on the other hand, are generally debuffs. I think the bunker and stimpack time increases will throw off timings and solid defences or pressure pushes. SlayerS generally have more Terrans as their big cards (Boxer, Ryung, MMA) whilst MVP is the big card of IM, with Yoda a possibility.

If the patch is really out I am scared for SlayerS because of how much Zerg talent IM has. I also am curious if they will use the new Spectator UI stuff.
Also does anyone have a video or gif of the slayers ceremony from yesterday, I missed it and was told it was funny.

SlayersMMA beat ST_Julyzerg pretty convincingly. I'd save him for sniping Losira. I'd also save SlayersAlicia for IMMVP and open up with SlayersRyung to prevent them from opening with IMMVP while not wasting SlayersAlicia too early. I would also save SlayersMin for Protoss opponents.
I would also suggest having SlayersBoxer go second as to give him time to figure out what "trick" he needs to beat whoever beat SlayersRyung (who presumably should be either IMSeed, IMYonghwa or Junwi.

Why the hell would they release the patch ON THE DAY OF THE FINALS? That's so damn stupid. I'm pretty annoyed right now. Would have it been so hard to wait one more day?

Blizzard is not obliged to follow any tournament, they guys at GSTL knew this may happen, they proceeded anyway.

Obliged has nothing to do with it. It's just inconsiderate to the players who have been dedicating hours of practice every day to get to and in preparation for the finals. Waiting a single day isn't so much to ask in the face of the situation.

The fact that Blizzard are pretty heavily involved in GSL/GSTL means they would surely know the timing of this. However, the fact they delayed it for at least 3-4 days (since the SEA one was done) means they were aware somewhat?

curious? he is the ST guy. You mean Min right? I think Ryung could give MVP a run for his money in a TvT. Ryung took out one of the best macro terrans (TOP). Also, I believe Min has a lot left to show after his early exit against TOP (still a great game though). Alicia and Losira are the X factors. We know MVP and Nestea will be solid and win at least two games. Thus, it will come down to Losira and Alicia taking down some of the top players and getting at least two wins for their respective teams. I wonder who will go first...so strategic! Sorry, you're right, I meant Min! (: SlayerS have a lot more viable options than IM, it seems. Whether they'll be able to exploit this remains to be seen. If anything, SlayerS WILL be the team thats able to best exploit its vast lineup of players. We saw how oGs hasn't really figured that out, and gets knocked out both times becuase they couldn't put the proper lineup of players out. yeh i think putting mc out last is a horrible idea, i mean its good for drama and for story, but strategically its the second worst thing to do (worst would be not playing him at all) - putting him 2nd last or 2nd would be best imo. I like that IM have taken it seriously and have come out with strong players every time, show's that they really want to win again, while oGs's decisions were a bit questionable I'm not sure that ogs wasn't taking it seriously... in bw proleague some teams consistently make objectively HORRIBLE decisions and I could never figure out why, even in important games when they were clearly trying to win. Ive just learned to accept that sometimes coaches make retarded decisions for no reason The thing is, some players practice differently to how they play in front of a live stream/pressure. You won't know until you put them out there, so maybe some of those guys are beasts in practice. I mean ST_Curious was a bizarre decision in the last 2 days, but they hyped him up in the interview videos saying that his ZvT was brilliant. oGs beats SlayerS (as does Startale) 9 times out of 10 with proper decision making though. However, SlayerS cannot be underestimated as some of these Code B guys are really quite gosu.

The patch is up for me on the Korean server. I'm pretty excited to see how it may affect their play. IM vs Slayers, can't wait.

Yeah, I agree, and the statements you made help illustrate my frustration.
Since Blizzard is heavily involved in the GSL in general, why didn't they wait another day? The fact that the patch was delayed for the KR server already means that there was some sort of acknowledgment of the tournament (unless it was delayed for some other reason, though I can't think of anything else). Then, after delaying it, they end up patching in the middle of the tournament anyway. It's just stupid.

I agree. If they were going to end up patching it b4 the tourney was over, they may as well had released it earlier. There could be some builds the players were practicing tht will just absolutely suck with for example, the infestor buff.
Hope the finals is still good.

Yeah this needs to be updated.

Ahh that's problematic, the patch takes effect for today's game. I guess some of the Terrans are going to be a bit off timing because of that. The Infestor's change might play in the hands of the Zergs though. Or they might just play very much like 1.3 didn't happen, or at least try to play like that.

Two of my favorite teams playing. This is going to be amazing.

Wait, so does each player on the winning team get an individual cut of the prize, as in ₩ 10,000,000 divided by how many, or does each member get ₩ 10,000,000 whether they played or not? If it's the latter than dam, winning a GSTL is a big pay day : D

Less discussion on patches, blizzard and prizes more hyping!

lol like they knew the patch was going to be on the exact same day as the GSTL finals. and you do know that one of the major sponsors of GSL is Blizz right? So I don't see why Blizz would want to possibly hurt the play of the tourney they are freaking hosting.
