Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't. |

Fairly certain those arguing for Artosis think the latter, while those arguing for Koreans only are arguing the former. And everyone has their own idea of what the invites "should" be. So it obviously follows that not everyone will be happy with the selections, no matter what they do. Personally, I'm convinced that a balance of the two approaches will yield the most entertaining and eclectic mix of players. :D And again, I've seen no one able to argue against my statement: more diversity than the GSL, more players than the TSL, more top tier density than MLG. :D
Bobster I agree with you... NASL is different from TSL and MLG, but I am almost sure that most of people supports Artosis in NASL because he is actually one of the best casters/commentators in the SC2 scene and because he was a SC1 famous and skilled player.. or simply because he is a very nice guy

only 2 koreans? plz pick some higher quality koreans cmon. mc applied, you cant leave out a champion in your tourney

Ok ... bolded phrase is another reason for sure

There are far fewer, at least until recently, NA tournaments so it's harder for NA players to appear "accomplished". Further, there aren't really more than 2 or 3 "accomplished" zergs in EU either, so unless you want the tournament to have mostly only terran and protoss players, catz and machine definitely deserve an invite. I could also point out they was likely always going to be a fairly even split between NA and EU invites, meaning if you believe NA talent pool is shallower, there would be some "questionable", but still justifiable, NA invites. Not to say I believe these two deserve an invite based on skill.

He commentates the highest skill level tournament in the world, and is almost always spot on with what players are doing in that tournament. He also plays in masters on the Korean ladder and has qualified for the 1st GSL and almost qualified for GSL3. You're honestly not going to allow someone like him into the league? o_O
Honestly... in my opinion it's not enough, especially because it was few months ago..

Artosis got funnily enough more accomplishments in this game then players like machine/incontrol (not that it's hard since they have none ).

When you put it like that i would probably agree i cant think off the top of my head of many good NA zergs. His name isnt out there as much but id say masterasia is a very good NA zerg and could compete with the best not neccesarily better than the other 2 choices.
If i really got what i wanted ( i know its not about just me) i would just prefer to see the best zergs from all over the world so be it if there are only 2 or so from north america. Oh well after a few seasons these players wil most likely start dropping out in the first round leaving room for new players coming up through the 2 open tournaments. Im glad the bottom 16 players drop out of the league this will make the league actually legitimate after a few seasons the fact that the first season was an invitational wont matter by then and we will eventually see the best of the best and people that deserve to be in the league based on their skill. I honestly cant wait for that to happen and am much more excited to watch the NASL from season 2 onward.

Wow division 5 is stacked. Really pumped to see Idra vs Tyler. Awesome history between those too, and Idra recently said that Tyler is who he wanted to play. Should be pretty interesting.

I think (hope) that once 50 players are in all the 5 groups will be balanced each other...

*come on mOOnGLaDe next*!!

Hmmm.. I still see only 2 koreans, and not the best ones at all.
That is pretty sad in my opinion. I hope the second half of players will surprise me greatly.

Not to say I believe these two deserve an invite based on skill. Very good point, everyone goes on about skill, results, popularity and server balance, but maintaining the racial balance between invites is just as important. No one wants to see one or two matchups dominate, especially in a league-based format played out over several months like this.
And another key word here is "justifiable" invites - you can absolutely make a solid case for any of the players announced so far. There are no scrubs here.
Looking at the stats, the worst (and I use the term loosely) player invited so far is catz. Weak ELO, weak prize winnings and limited tournament results. Personally, I think the worst player announced so far given his current form is Fenix. Minigun dismantled him so effortlessly 4-0 in a showmatch yesterday, it was almost painful to watch.
And fuck, if catz and Fenix are your worst players in a 50 (so far 30) pool lineup, you're not in bad shape. :D

Damn, this league is going to be so good. Group 4 ?????? I think it's much weaker than group 1 or 5 (which is only missing nestea, mc, mma, july and alicia :D) SeleCT, Ace, Machine, and Catz? I would not want to be HasuObs lol. All of those guys are beasts. I don't like 1 as much. I feel like Fenix and Sheth are pretty outclassed by TLO, Kiwi, and Moon. Then as far as those three go, I'd say they're pretty even, but I wouldn't pick any of them in a Bo5 over anyone I mentioned from group 4. I could be overrating Machine/Catz, but I don't think so. I'm pretty sure that Hasu is happy with his group. His PvZ is definitely strong enough to take down Machine and Catz and the strongest opponent is protoss, so he also has decent chances to win against him.

As long as they set up a transparent system of promotions and qualifications so that it's clear how good or bad one has to be to get in or out the nasl in future seasons, I don't really care who's in the initial one and I don't see why anyone else would. For hype purposes they probably want all the people with the most fanboys in the first one, and that's fine in my book.

I don't know if this is already been said, but shouldn't ROOT.qxc be FXOqxc now?

Division 5 is STACKED
Idra, Sen, Tyler, (Socke)
|
Ye, Division 5 has like 4 of the top 7-8 players out of those 25 so far in my (obviously very subjective) opinion.

I really hope Catz or slush does something here, because there were definitely some more accomplished Europeans available. Wish we could have seen artosis.... honestly im kind of sad. It isn't that we OWE a spot to him, but based on the amounts hes played and his acheivements he has EARNED it. Oh well, certain things are more politics

Judging from the requirement for a Youtube video as part of the application, it's pretty obvious that it's both.
(Also, where's Artosis?)

Division 5 is the hardest one if I'm asked. But I think IdrA will make it out, aswell as Tyler or Sen... Hope Tyler + IdrA though!!!
