[NASL] Players (final) - Page 45
Forum Index > StarCraft 2 Tournaments |
Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't.

There're more ROOT players than EG, I don't think there's much evidence to back these claims of bias.

they are somewhat better right now but what's the point of hosting a sc2 league based in california with 90% koreans... eeshh, go watch the gsl... good list so far... and they should invite all EGs, fnatics, roots etc... support NA clans in the NASL duh!

However, with so much talent to chose from, you can't go wrong. And where you go wrong, it will be corrected the following season. Fear not Team Liquidians, we will enjoy this!

I hope this wasn't intentional by NASL.

I wouldn't complain about a lack of "top" Korean invites until they've released the whole list. I do wish they would just release it all at once, though - all this is doing is building speculation, and not much hype imo. I also think some of the complaining in this thread comes from the fact that they billed the NASL as the "best players in the world," right? But it's also an NA-based tournament, which will hopefully help take the NA scene to the next level. Those two goals conflict with each other somewhat, and while both are fine, I think people are just having different expectations. Some want to see the very best (which would presumably include a lot of Koreans) and some want to see a real NA-centric tournament. Either way, I wish they'd just release all the players' names already so we know what's actually going on.

Incontrol promised us oGs players so I'm guessing TOP and Inca will be participating since they played at Dreamhack. if that is their aproach to koreans, i like it alot i mean sure we all love MC, MVP ect, but there is other very good koreans players. we will see

Is it wrong to like . . want to see better games from a spectator's point of view? Clearly, Koreans represent the highest level of skill right now, and a tournament that claims to be of the best players in the world only inviting a handful of lower tier Koreans is a complete joke.

Oh hey, there's already a league exactly like what you described: the GSL.

the fact that they billed the NASL as the "best players in the world," right? Seems like they are striving for a combination of best, and interesting as well. There are so many good players out there, it can't be easy and some players will get left out. But they've said they are trying to develop storylines, player back-stories, things like that to help drive this. And to be honest, I agree with that approach. I don't find watching high level GSL Koreans more entertaining then slightly lower level European or NA play. In fact, sometimes watching Koreans execute perfect builds right back and forth at each other without any creativity is boring. Then you get an interview with a stone faced person who shows no emotion after they win, great. We already have the GSL, if they are going to just do another version of the GSL it won't be as good and we already have that anyway. This needs some features to make it unique, and having to many Koreans that show no emotion regardless of how good they are is not appealing to me. I just want some Koreans mixed in so I can see them get beaten, or at least see how NA/Europe matches up, but having 16 or 20 Koreans with a final 8 being 6 or 7 Korean players? No thanks. Boring. This is why I've enjoyed the GSTL, the players actually show some personality but that doesn't carry into the GSL. I'm hoping that the NASL has players that will show some personality, speak a language I understand, and offer something a bit different.

Inviting 5-10 koreans is fine in my book. But I don't just want to see the same MMA/Nestea/MVP/MC finals every single place I go. It gets boring. Give non korean players a chance at the spotlight.

The thing is, NASL could easily have prevented the entire mess if they were clear about what they wanted from the beginning. Or if they even knew what they wanted. They could have made the tournament NA resident exclusive (though it obviously wouldn't justify the investment and prize money, would it?). They could have said something like - 10 or whatever Korean invitees FIXED (like TSL did) and make an effort to invite the best of them. They could have had qualifiers instead of handpicking players based on hype or whatever. Finally, they could have made it a typical invitational tournament, decide which players they wanted, and handle all the inviting business privately instead of making people apply publicly (in which case the rejection is public as well). They could have done plenty to make things transparent and clear, but they didn't. They said "we want the best players in the world, everybody can apply just go make a video, and then we'll magically produce a list of 50 names we want". So good luck not getting community backlash when people see Cruncher in the league, and not Hyperdub or SuperNoVa or whoever really of the Koreans that applied and doesn't get in. It's easy to say that you can't keep everyone happy and that with 50 players somebody has to be left out, and it's true. But if you promise the best players in the world, promise to contact the Korean teams (and then fail to do so), and the best players still go ahead and actually apply, then it's pretty damn clear who shouldn't be left out. Now I wish every foreign tournament was organized by TL. =(
