And should people that just play for fun and use poor training enviroments be able to win? Why npot use handicap in all tournaments then, so bronze players also can have a chance to win the GSL.
I dont get this :-(

I don't understand why people are getting butthurt over the comments on PlayXP, I mean god forbid korean people have opinions on others as well. I mean if you look at most of the garbage posted during GSL playdays (especially code A games), a lot of people knock koreans for being gimmicky and relying too much on one-base power.
Also, I'm a bit surprised at results considering Ace isn't particularly known for his high level toss play but it shows how much the skill in Korea has shifted since the last time we saw koreans in the mix of a foreigner filled tournament (DreamHack). I think we should wait til day2 to fully comment on the skill gap, it may be shorter than we think. I for one think if any foreigner is able to compete on the level or above of the koreans in this tournament, SjoW's the man.

Hmm. That link luckily wasn't about what I thought it was about.

"Today, the skill gap between Koreans and foreigners was on full display. Not many good games." i have to agree with you on this, the gap is just widening each day.

It's not a fairy tale. When you see 2 great Koreans (TOP and InCa) at dreamhack perform less than stellar and 2 foreigners in the ro8 in GSL you realize it's not too big a skill difference. sc2 is really random right now, just look at this GSL. I'm sick of these incredibly shortsighted people make giant assumptions based on a tiny bit of data. And what does it say when countless foreigners who are considered to be "amongst the top" are not managing to qualify for GSL? Pretty much only tournaments who have a decent balance of Korean and Westerner players is FXOpen. See whats happening there http://challonge.com/fxopenis1I'll go even as far as to say this. If Jinro or HuK do not win GSL within 2 seasons no foreigner ever will (unless someone gets the privilege to join a Korean pro team and live/train with them, not to mention the language barrier). It's just a pipe dream to believe that someone who plays SC2 as a hobby can be as good as someone who dedicates his whole life to SC2.
Who are these amongst the top players that haven't managed to qualify? If you can name 5 then I'll give you the argument. Remember, even if they are eliminated Ro1 Code A they still qualified. ST_Ace is showing that the talent level is so high that even qualifying is a feat. He lost both of his GSL matches fairly straight up. Ret won one, Hayder played twice (losing once to BBB). Who are these amongst the top then that haven't qualified? iNcontroL? Spades? Yes they are very very talented but if you're going to compare them with MVP or Nestea they are not the best the foreign world has to offer.

Sad to see that there's a total of 3 VODs uploaded for the entire IEM day1 so far. Thats 3 games... and Idra is only playing in one of them.
Guess I won't be watching the IEM again.

So not all games were cast? Caus I'm kind of confused; In the first VOD (Ace vs Morrow) they talk about other games of earlier that day?

Not discountng the skill gap btw, but such a skill gap does not always equal a similar gap in entertainment.

congratz to Ace but... this 10-0 is something that he can never get in Korea.

This has been driving me insane, and search is letting me down. What's a LR thread?

Yes there were no English casts for the first 2 sessions. If they have uploaded the russian and german streams then those games will be in there.
Also a few games were played at the same time and nobody cast the games that the English cast didnt cover in the afternoon.
