Please remember that these threads are for talking about the games. People who cannot watch rely on these threads for information. If the thread is diluted with balance/caster/lack of snacks whine, it makes it useless for those who want to read it.

Thanks a lot!

As the chorus of boo's to July's cheese rain down, I think back to January GSL finals when MVP "star-sense'd" absolutely anything and everything MKP tried to do, and now against July, a complete and total lack of scouting lost him the game.
Baneling busting isn't cheese, fyi. Especially considering it only happens if a Terran walls. I consider strats dependent on what your opponent does not cheese by default, since it's a reactionary move and not done blindly.

Umm... he never scouted MVP or what he was doing at all..

The ramp is walled, he has now scouted as effectively early game as he is going to...

I wasn't paying attention much to the early game, so excuse me if I'm wrong, but I recall Artosis saying that July never even scouted the 2 rax at all. The only time he might've gotten a hint was when he saw the marines at the watchtower. Then he put down the baneling nest.

Never saw the buildings at the top of the ramp.

You're right, he didn't scout the ramp, but knew his position, and MVP walls vZ every game. So yes, he actually didn't KNOW about the wall, but it was pretty evident that a wall-in existed (being as it's standard)

I fear at how many people call a baneling bust cheesey. As a Protoss main, I enjoy finally seeing a zerg player being able to punish a Terran in the early game. I feel like the Starcraft Karmic Gods are smiling.
SOOOOOooooOOOOooooOOOOoo Many BANELINGS!!

Actually now it could be easy for Jinro to take the title as long as he dodges MC.

There's no chance of dodging MC really. Jinro and MC are on a collision course. If they don't meet by the semifinals, it's because one of them lost. Worse, it looks like Jinro will have a harder road after the group stage, likely facing Nada AND oGsTOP (if I understand the RO16 format).

Yeah might be, but if MC messes up lets say next round and drops then there is chance of Jinro making it far. Though as you said, if Nada or TOP Is against him next round, that won't be easy. But im confident, his TvT is alright.

If he comes back for next season, he is in Code A. The season after, he is out completely and has to requalify, afaik.

Was it really an all in? I didn't watch the games but according to the posts he did the same build in the first game... and transitioned out into a succesful late-game. I mean, doesn't that prove it was a thought out strategy? Or did he do something different in the second game?

He killed a ton of SCVs in game 1 after getting a lot of lings and banelings in the base. It was just your average all-in baneling bust. Absolutely nothing special about either one really except that they worked.

Nice revisionist history. July didn't kill a ton of SCVs at all. The damage inflicted was incredibly minimal and Tastosis pretty much said July was done, since his economy was wayyyyyyy behind.

I like how people are calling JulyZerg some kind of amazing god for a basic banebust working at the worst possible time when MVP lifted his barracks to place add-ons.

enough said.

Wasn't talking about his career -- was talking about calling him amazing for banebusting 2 games in a row.

Also, lol @ people saying the only way to beat terran in ZvT = banebust.

if you can make it work twice in a row, yea that is amazing to me. mvp should not fall for same thing twice
