the issues of tonight will not be repeated for those reasons among others.
Please just be happy.. this is awesome.
Awesome thanks for clarifying, though I'll probably still have to watch most by VOD lol.

Hypothetical Question:
What would IdrA say if Jinro started hating on him right now and called him really, really bad?
I remember IdrA saying a lot of GSL code S people were awful, and calling people like ONECruncher (A TSL3 qualifier) terrible. Compared to the vast amount of people these players are amazing. Jinro has now beaten him a couple of times. So I wonder what IdrAs reaction would be to Jinro saying something like that about him.

Great games, poor production, AWESOME announcement!

Well the NASL is certainly a BIG deal, we haven't had anything like this before and it's quite exciting for Starcraft fans, but....they're really going to have to work on the casting/production. Incontrol+Gretorp simply cannot carry this, and the sooner they get DJWheat or Day9 in there the better. I was far more entertained with Kelly+Tasteless than Gretorp+Incontrol, and the reason I pay for every GSL (and maybe NASL) is because of the fun casting. Frankly Incontrol, or at least the people investing in this production, should wise up and get on their hands and knees to beg Husky and HD to do some casts, IF they want to appeal to a broader audience.
And if we are to follow Incontrol's example from yesterday, we should restream the casts and it will be fairplay as long as we are dubbing with trashtalk about the players and commentators. GET SOME??

There is noone in the entire sc2 scene who comes close to his level of charisma and personality. Because right now, at this moment in time, Day[9] himself is bigger than the NASL. Perhaps once it gets rolling they'll be able to bring him onboard. Also, the NASL is trying to establish its own brand. I would argue it would be detrimental to that effort if the NASL became The Day[9] Daily Showmatch League, which you know is what would happen.
I disagree with you. If the NASL is aiming for a wide audience and a mainstream recognition, they need a person who can make the games exciting to watch even for people who are new to the game.
Im not bashing gretorp and incontrol, i think they did a great job casting this showmatch and i liked ther analyis, but day9 is on another level. When he commentates games, he puts it out in a manner than anyone can understand and ENJOY because he puts so much emotion into it. He makes the game entertaining to watch because the sincerity in his voice and his genuine passion for the game connectst the viewer to the game and makes it feel "real".
Its kind of hard to describe, but if you watch day9 cast a game and pay attention to the tone of his voice you will understand. When a terran player gets off a sneaky drop and manages to snipe a robo bay, the way day9 shouts "OH NOO! THIS IS TERRIBLE FOR PLAYER X" sounds sounds genuine and you can hear the excitement in his voice.
|
I hope day9 will be a guess commentator as well as others. It's always nice to hear Diggity...I just like his voice ever since I heard the epic 1000th. I'm curious what exactly the censorship standards will be like, with swearing and what not. I imagine it'll be a little more lax than Korea's but probably still a little bit strict in terms of the abundance of four letter words. The more mainstream e-sports gets, it'll have to behave that way more. But don't worry, "mainstream" is headed the other way itself.

Probably nothing because he knows it is false?

Mixed feelings about the voting: It's great that fans have such an influence but we might never see any of the really good "underground" players.

I see a bright future for this. Okay the "pilot" we saw tonite was full of errors, lag, weird cuts and desyncs to name some was not the most convinsing BUT I think the show told us a lot of what the NASL is going to be like. Lots of production with a tight schedule behind it like the GSL. It's not going to be like those weekend tournaments where you randomly drops into a game or have long periods of time waiting, randomly horrible casters and all that.
I think it's really really promising for the future of e-sports that you aim for production value of a televised football game for example where stuff happens on time, everything is prepared and you got a regular set of casters that knows what they are doing. When it comes to the casters InControl and Gretorp are both very intelligent and social casters that I'm sure with a bit of experience behind them will be an amazing team.
Well NASL still got a bit to work on, tonite showed us that, but I'm confident that the real launch of the NASL will be a lot better. Remember the first MLG guys? Compare that to the latest in Dallas. Worlds apart in quality and all it took was a little bit of trial and error, so if you got the ambition, the resources and some good people behind it, it will be amazing and I'm really looking forward to it.

I think steven bonnell already did that. But yeah as far as casting, incontrol and gretorp are good at many things but at least in my opinion casting is not one of them.

Well obviously he's one of the top players in the world, but as are many of the people he calls terrible.
He called Nestea terrible.

well the Nasl casting team will like all thing get better over Time so get them a Chance. I am all hyped for Nasl and wish we had something like that in EU, ESL not in Calculation

Comparing people that are relatively new to something to those who have been doing it a long time is kind of unfair. I really enjoyed Incontrol's comment about the drone's skirt. That and other times I've heard he's a pretty funny guy.

I think Gretorp and Incontrol are fine. I think a lot of people are expecting Tasteless and Artosis chemistry. While they do great in the GCPL casts, I think they were focused on bringing the serious face (no funny gretorp/incontrol jokes) and the desync issue didn't help them much either. They'll do great when the time comes.

And then rectified it later, calling him the best zerg in the world (yes, even better than himself).

I am so hyped for NASL. And I love that Incontrol and Gretorp will be the main casters. Incontrol is just awesome, funny and well spoken, and I have loved Gretorp as a caster since I heard him co-cast with Day[9] (gretorp just seems so nice).
|
I think Gretorp and Incontrol did a phenomenal work at analysing the games, but they lack the genuine excitement and passion. Compare them to casters like Artosis and Day9 and you will see (hear) what im talking about
If the Casters arent Excited, the viewers arent gonna be excited.

Got to say it, I was quite impressed with IncontroL's casting, well done sir !
