Since TL doesn't allow people to play in several tournaments simultaneously, I guess that means TLO, White-Ra and Naniwa won't be playing unless they drop out of Take's tournament soon?
|
Sooo early!!! Me sooo sleepy!!!
...Where's my coffee?!?! XD
Pretty damn excited! Let's have a fun, clean tourney, gentlemen! =)
|
i'm just hoping i win a game this time. >_>
|
first TL open ^^ Hope this will be fun
|
gl to everyone
|
Nani's internet seems to be fucked atm and hes playing in the homestory cup still o 0, hope he gets shit sorted before this
|
this is gunna be sooo much fun!! I love TSL 3 2048 man tourney WTF!!! thats aweasome!!! Teamliquid you rock! Teamliquid for president!!
|
no tlo if he doesnt lose in homestorycup i guess :/
|
TLo whitera and naniwa didnt check in. They are playing at the homestory cup right now. Is it safe to assume they wont be doing both? Wtb white ra in TSL 3!
|
can i still check in if there are spots left? MaNofWaR.692
|
i woke up at 13:59 CLST. check in closed at 14:00 CLST =(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
|
Can I check in as well? I arrived like a minute too late :[
Please let me check in while brackets are being done? I even set my alarm clock today since I went to sleep so late!
|
Oh my god, I thought check-in BEGAN at 9:15 AM PST. ): I am here but am disqualified!
[Edit] I would still be happy to compete if they re-opened check-in to get all of those people in the same situation!
[Edit 2] I got the impression of a 9:15 AM start time from here: http://www.teamliquid.net/tournaments/admin/?action=view&id=682
"Tournament will be held on the Battle.net NA Server on Saturday, Jan 15 9:15am PST." No mention of a check-in time.
|
whats going on? Why delays
|
Hmm... still can't check match-up, anyone else having this problem?
|
|
There's 2k players, it takes time to get the brackets up and running. Just check every 5 minutes, you'll be fine.
|

Thanks, was just getting pre-game jitters. >.<
|
Not to be picky but with all the people that aren't checked in, it's more around 1K. Anyway, I hope that I will not be the only one or so with a bye for the first round
|
Erm, theres not even 1024 players so why is it set up as a 2048 bracket? I think literally everyone has a bye first round O.O
|
first round bye!!! oh wait
|
Good luck to everyone playing today!
|

A couple people actually have two byes xP... Well there were lots of peoplem signed up, just not that many checked in it seems.
|
I have two byes, and so does the guy opposing me in my first 3 rounds, so...i think i shuold be able to just play this guy now >_>
D: oh well. Can't complain, i guess
|
5 minute loss, back to sleep.
|
I'm confused... I thought streaming tournament games wasn't allowed. Has this rule been changed or is it just being ignored?
|
Sucks so much that TLO, MorroW, Darkforce, etc. are not playing. TLO got eliminated out of HS Cup by Brat_Ok right after check in for TSL Quali closed.
|
It's kind of disappointing that top players aren't prioritizing these really. Are they confident that they won't need to play all 8 to get in or what?
|

No they aren't allowed to participate while being in other tourneys, they all were signed up but couldn't check in, at least that's how i understood it

Really frustrating having so many BO1 rounds...misplacing one building can knock you out of the tournament.
It was very well run as always, though.

Agreed. Bo1 can be extremely frustrating in a tournament setting.

Ragequit's stream quality is better and the commentator is pretty good .
|
someone record tyler's stream like before dang it (please?), my internet is terrible
|
Looks like nani is almost a shoe in for the TSL, 3/4th in the first and almost there again
|
Oh Naniwa was allowed to play after all despite also playing that Take tournament?
e: looks like it's only an issue if it delays TLopen, that makes sense
|
I love to see a ton of Tanks in TvP. BW style FTW! All that's missing is blue goo.
And the tanks win, woohoo!
|
|
Gj Predy, would love to see replay, that was pretty epic match..
|
Oh god, I totally forgot about ascension!

i would have loved to play in this my stupid comptuer broke

Hey, at least you fixed it.
Its like you won the tourney and bought a new graphics card. :p

Why can Naniwa play in this and all the other HS-Cup players can't?
|
It looks like a lot of good players are dropping to best of ones. Select, Incontrol, Machine, TT1...
|
bah, qxc on a roll today!
|
Is it only going to be tyler streaming? I would've liked a more enthusiastic caster, just my personal preference(nothing against tyler). But I'll take what I can get!

who is still in the tournament so far ?

All four through to the quarter finals are notable players (Sheth SjoW GoOdy qxc) and we have meRz, KawaiiRice and Naniwa left in the ro16. Sure the bo1 isn't optimal but the best players win in the long run.

Naniwa isn't at Takes place. There are only 6 computer and the HomeStoryCup was still running.
The next tournaments will be much harder with the HSC players available (Socke, Demuslim, TLO, Darkforce, BratOK, Naama, Morrow, Dimaga, Cloud, HasuObs and Mana)

MorroW, Naama and BratOk played from home so they could take part too. However, since nAni is 2 pro 4 school he won every single game 2-0 in the HSC and therefor could dedicate the rest of the day to TLOPEN #2!

Sucks so much that the quarter finals where not casted anywhere. I feel like tsl qualifiers are the tournament with the thinnest stream coverage.

Same exact thing for me. The quality is so good that it just buffers every ten seconds making it unwatchable. Too bad Ustream doesn't have fancy buttons like Justin.tv to let you change the quality of the stream to how you desire. That helps.
Anyone know of a way to rig it up to lower the stream quality through some kind of obscure settings.
If you have problems like this, mention it, maybe they'll will magic up a solution for future events.

Just tuned in again and I must say I am a little disappointed at the Americans. With almost all top European players out I thought at least one top American player would make it further.

I'm not saying they wouldn't deserve it. I'm just saying that I want to see players I have been cheering for the last 6-8 years, not players I wouldn't care to follow. It's my own problem I know. Doesn't change the fact I don't care about these players.

I don't mind that they prove themselves. I like that it's open. I'm just sad that players I want aren't really performing. It's their own fault but it doesn't change the fact I want to see them more I want to see these.
Also I know that players like Nani, predy and goody aren't really unknowns but if you look at the brackets. The most famous names aren't there. Even just for the hype, TSL would benefit for having players like White-Ra, Sen, Dimaga, BratOK etc.
I know qualifications aren't over by a long shot but I just expressed what I thought about this situation.

Oh wow, Predy has like 100 SCVs lol.
And those Blue Flame Hellions are really paying off for Goody. Damn.

The Holgerius style. I always make too many workers (especially as Zerg, I've had 130 workers in one game XD).

wtf is going on with this game.

It would of ended 15 minutes ago if they microed their hellions better...

TvT is by far the hardest match up in this game you cant focus on microing a few helions when 20 things are going on at once.

Wow, I really wish they would've posted the EST timings earlier in the week. I really am not very talented with converting EST to KST.

When 60 SCV are on one base, sacking 20 hellions right into it would be worth it, even if you lost all of them.

I wasn't a fan of TvT in bw and I'm not a fan of it in sc2, but this series is so freaking awesome!

Honeslty, Goody will win this due to being 3-1 vs 0-0. Predy is playing awsome, but he completely forgot upgrades the whole match which will pretty much be the decisive factor.

Upgrades play such a big role now :<

Nice watching the mech play!

Best TvT series from SO LONG.
that was awesome !!! so tense,
|
After watching the game, I totally think that Goody deserves a spot in the TSL. Very well played, he never lost focused. The way he broke the siege lines was also very impressive.
|
Great game! Goody had his tanks clumped up a lot, I wish predy had've dropped some mule bombs on those blobs when he had map control...
|
lets see how full mech will do to protoss
|
As TvT's go, that one was quite enjoyable to watch. Pretty decent showing from both players IMO.
|
Predy would have better chance vs Nani I feel.. He absolutely dominated Kiwikaki.. But Naniwa knows how to abuse mech well, I smell Goody will be outmacroed..
|
Hmm, definetely have to hold naniwa as the favourite here. He's playing insanely well lately. So far today he's rolled through TSL open AND the Homestorycup in europe. :O The guy might be BM at times, but he sure does back it up with some skill.
Did chill just bash on the most standard speedling opening ever btw? Oo

Hey R1CH, I think that it might be a good idea to make the LQ stream in other streaming website, like livestream or justin.tv, this way you also help people who have some lag issues with ustream.
Just a little advice, dont know if it's the best choice ^^
EDIT: Just to add, having a LQ stream is good anyway, I'm actually watching it because I have a little bit of choppiness at the other one.
|
The LQ stream is working great! Finally able to watch this TLOpen =)
|
Aw, I hoped for more interesting play style, but I guess I'm just too accustomed to qxc's double drops. Long games, some unpleasant mistakes... But I guess this is mostly a matter of taste, someone actually likes MarineKing's play style, so anything is possible .
Congratulations to PredY for the semi-finals, I haven't seen many Czech players seen the beta...

Phoenixes are so strong now.
|
nani showing some sick builds today. 2 gate pressure into expand PvT looks very solid, and that phoenix build on cross spawns meta or other long rush distance maps looks hard to deal with as well.
|
Yep i think that phoenix buff was a bit too much. But eventhough Naniwa played brilliant.
|
Nani is like the master of abusing probably broken mechanics v zerg, his vZ strat for last 6months was cannon contain, 4gate or voidray 3 gate push and now cannon contain is gone, just mass super fast phoenix:D

TL Open on the European server = one finalist from Denmark, one finalist from Ukraine.
TL Open on the NA server = one finalist from Sweden, one finalist from Germany.

naniwa with his typical 2 gate fe pressure build. kas is one of the only players who actually beat that.

Wtf was goodie thinking there, he must be so scared of cheese lol

rofl, Chill doesn't notice the missle turret? -.-

it seems like no one in the NA scene (casters mostly) knows anything about naniwa. i guess being kicked from the most "media" filled leagues in EU kinda took him off the map for people outside eu. he is just rly fking strong, and can play all kinda styles. a bit like MC tbh, even tho not as good obviously.

"Naniwa might not even be aware that Goody goes mech" That was a funny one. :D These guys know each other in and out.

goody does nothing but mech except for some bio all ins

Ofc Nani knows goody is playing mech.... since goody plays 90% mech against all 3 races ^.^.
|
nani's army control is so nice
|
Goody, where are your hellions? Would really help buffer those tanks against chargelots.
|
Stop this expansion from doing anything?
He's had it for 5 minutes and had 1 scv on it the whole time. He was doing just fine by himself on that front.
|
lol those high templars r useless might as well get archons, i do think tho triple stargate carriers better than triple robo or have both late game

30 minute game while turteling... Build no sensor towers.

i think naniwa has the best pvt outside ouf korea right now.

Well, that was a silly last game. Understandable, though - Goody probably felt backed up completely to the wall.

That was fast, grats to Naniwa, well deserved!

Very happy to see Nani win one of these. Such a solid performance from him

empire owning tsl qualifiers
|
What a roflstompage :o Nani qualified, good for other "points" contestants as it will allow one more slot. That reminds me : as nani is very dominant at the moment, can he still participate in TLOpens ? Because he could really win some more, what happens in that case ?
|
Wow, nAni keeps on impressing me. 3-4 months ago he was very cheesy, often one basing/5-Gating. Now he plays really well, micros well, macros well and makes amazing blink-of-an-eye decisions in difficult situations!
|
Naniwa! Very well played, first showing us a very solid and well executed pvz... And then follows it up by an even more impressive pvt that was very enjoyable to watch. Congratz, well deserved.
|
He had perfect patience to hold that proxy rax, gratz to empire for already having 2 people in the tsl
|
Koreans are lucky not to have naniwa on their ladder. WP and Gratz!

After you win one TSL qualifier you are not allowed to participate in the others.

It was the 4k ladder push, he unlocked super toss powers when he hit 4k

once you qualify for TSL, you cannot participate in other qualifiers.

2 out of 2 TSL qualifiers are from Empire, nice
Edit: I also like how his play and his manner improved in the last month.

Great ending song, does anyone know what was that? Btw. congrats to Nani, looking forward to seeing some more protoss in TSL.

You don't know if his manner has improved , he doesn't lose so we don't have solid info to base an arguement on.

Regarding the starting times of the tournament(s?).
This is a big event in the foreign community, you should be able to attend a tournament at 9AM if you are serious about this game. I'm not calling anyone out because I don't know the circumstances they are in but I think if you really wanted it you could get up at 9AM, heh....
I agree that 6 AM is very early and I understand if it is impossible to get up that early and perform good.
Believer out!

What time were the finals being played in NA? perfect time, in eu it is 3 o'clock now. And it starts also early in the european tournament. Besides in the match of Empire vs Fnatic it started at 5 am eu time. So complaining about times, when it is 10 o clock is not really valid. You need to play vs newbs first anyway.

Actually, I can not recall him losing to any top player for the last month or so, so it is actually true that he doesn't lose. Even at his race for 4000 he kept running into a lot of the top EU players the final days, and he did not drop a single game (sort of). I was watching a couple of the high lvl EU streams, and when they faced MeatyOwlLegs they got roflstomped by his Protoss macro play (TLO and Morrow are two examples).

They have a lot more than that. A lot of up and comers like Beastyqt and Forsen as well.
|
I've got to put out a big thanks to TL for doing these opens and especially the TSL as well, they seem to be bringing all these closet gosus out of the woods, there are so many incredible players that I just haven't seen or heard of before. Congratulations to Nani, he played so impressively today, he really deserved that win.

Thx Hot_Bid ! Nani played so well. Im glad he won.

was hoping to see QXC go further in this one but oh well there is always next week, good work naniwa those were some well played games

euro players owning US qualifier.. sad stuff indeed
User was warned for this post

These qualifiers feel somehow anti-climatic to be honest. I don't want to say the guys who qualified don't deserve it (they clearly do), but as a spectator I'd still like the TSL3 to have this all-star lineup of players. =P
|
How long till vods are up please? I went to bed last night just before Chill and Wheat started casting.

I've seen him losing several times, but what I mean is that I didn't saw him leaving without a "gg" in the last month. He also didn't flame any players.

Would have loved to try and play in this... but alas my sleeping pattern did not allow it ( woke up like 5-6 hours after the start of it D: )
Either way, definitely will check out some of the replays tomorrow. Hoping for some exciting games!
