They either need to cost a small amount of gas or slightly more minerals, harassment should cost something if it fails, as it stands there is no punishment to terran for all of their harassment options, hellions are cheap, and banshees and medivacs can just bolster your army.

It's just that notion that a protoss scouting a factory tech-lab can have no idea what is coming while unable to pressure the terran in return. its more like protoss players still didnt learn to stop harass properly they should learn from zergs

Firstly, Tyler didn't properly wall off the back door entrance to his natural (pylon + stalker didn't fully wall off, but it showed that he was totally expecting it) Secondly, after the block failed, he simply panic'd just a tiny bit and right clicked a mineral patch with all of his probes and handed them to fenix. Hellions really aren't that big of a problem if tyler hadn't made the mistake. The cloaked banshee was trivial in that instance.

You fuck up a wall in vs a 6pool = you lose the game you don't scout a couple of burrowed banelings = you lose 20 marines you mismicro vs high templar = you lose your army you siege/unsiege your tanks at a bad time = you lose all your tanks etc... etc... I honestly can't believe people are whining about imba hellions because of this one game.

People just hate to see their favorites lose, and get pissed and cry imba when they do. I think banshee vs. DT isn't the correct frame for the argument. It's that, unless the protoss chooses robo tech, he cannot do anything against a cloaked banshee. It's limiting for protoss and very predictable. Meanwhile, a protoss who techs DT must make four costly tech buildings down one tech path. Should he be lucky enough to see his dark shrine finish, he can send his DT's to his opponent's base. And, surprise, the terran can scan! Portable detection that doesn't pigeonhole him to a tech path. I'm not sure if this works, but allowing the observer to be made out of the nexus or gateway once any tier-2 tech structure is built (i.e. twilight council, stargate, robo facility) seems fair.

The problem of PvT is that if scouting is denied, or not very fruitful, you have to asume Banshees and go Robo. Against Zerg it's not so dramatic since Overseers are compatible with all the three Lair choices and Queens don't soak up gas.

One of the questions i originally posed was where is an equivalent of this freerolling in other races. Also, take into account actions it takes to do that- get into the mineral line(which strikes me was much harder in SCBW), plant a mine, wait for your opponent to walk into it. Shuttle the reaver in. Drop a scarab. Hope the scarab goes off. 3 steps. 3 chances for opponent to avoid the mistake. hellions? 1) get into the mineral line.
