"These retarded koreans" Yeah, no generalization or anything going on there. Fuck off with that shit, westerners also cheese. It won him the game, not like he has any reason to regret it. It's a pointless argument, but I stopped encountering a ton of cheese once I broke past gold. (I'm US) and yes, if esports were big here, and americans all cheesed, i'd say "We play like retarded kids." Talent is the way to win, not just betting on a roll of the dice. I will mention that in this tournament, (irregardless of race) players who are of inferior skill that manage to get to 1-1, will just cheese the last game and roll for a win. That's what hyperdub did. That's why I prefer the best of 5. Bad players are more readily knocked out. hyperdub is great, no doubts. But he's just not as good as TLO, and that leaked through in a lot of ways. Well, yes and no. If TLO had known that Hyper was a non-cheese heavy macro player (you can tell he is a heavy macro player from all his previous rounds) then he would not scout for proxies. Hyper knowing that TLO would not scout proxies, cheesing -> win. It's a good play FULL STOP. Not that I am saying cheese itself is a good play, it's horrible and rolling the dice in most cases, however just not here.

In my opinion cheese is the CORRECT Answer if your opponent goes the same mech build order every game. I saw it as a hole in TLO's game that he literally changed nothing game to game and just left it for hyperdub to do a build that exploited the early weakness.

Yeah I wanted TLO to advance but Hyperdub deserved the win. There's no other way about it. Congrats to Hyperdub and I hope he puts up a good fight against Tester next round. Better luck to TLO next time.
Its sort of like sports. Fans of one team trash talk other teams. Its comes with competition.. get used to it.

Well played Hyperdub but to the people saying that "Hyperdub played more solidly in game 1, he just made one big mistake":
A) It's "one big mistake" that put TLO so far behind in the first place (suiciding thors into a tankline and forsaking his contain, allowing 'dub to take the gold). B) Hyperdub had such a huge contain but forgot to get upgrades: massive mistake (on top of losing such a massive army by attacking two chokes at once).

you have never seen boxer play have you? where he sneaks an scv in oov's base and listens for the mining, runs back into a corner and proceeds to proxy like a mad man. proxy builds are exciting and part of the game. all you fanboys stop hating, we knew koreans would dominate this tourney, dont take away from dubs ability to throw alot of differet things at TLO

I understand it just fine, doesn't mean I have to respect players who resort to cheap play.
We're not watching a coin toss tournament. A player resorting to cheese turns it into the equivalent of that.

I'm sad that TLO lost, but I'm mad because I think cheese strategies make for bad entertainment. The games that are fun to watch are the games that go on for a little while. I don't think there is any problem with being made when a player cheeses. It's just not good entertainment.

I'm a TLO fan and I was pulling for him to take the tournament. The pair played an absolutely crazy game one that was a really fun watch, and while game two was shorter it was equally competitive. As soon as I saw that proxy Rax in the third I buried my head.
Part of that is because I knew that my favorite player in the tourney was about to lose, and part of it is because that strategy is so painful when I get hit with it.
Ah well, time to catch up on the other matches and see if I can get invested in one of these other players

Wow..
Yes screw them, I will never pay for anything from them. Now that the two best foreigners are gone, goodbye.

Ugh, so disappointing to see a cheese knock out the only reason I cared about this tourney. Good thing I didn't go premium.
TLO does seem sloppy early on if you ask me, and I never really felt good about game 2, but the whole game would be so much better and more entertaining if people didn't go for cheap and easy wins.
I may tune in to see Tester knock out the cheeser though.

I doubt you'll get to read this since it'll be buried in spam, but GG's TLO. You did great, yo. You'll only get better over the next few years, so I'll definitely be rooting for you in the future GSL tournies!
GG's GL & HF TLO.

People throw around the word "creative" way too much when referring to him too.
When other people do unorthodox builds, they're instantly labeled noob, but when TLO does it he's some sort of genius.
Hyperdub outplayed him in game 1 and dominated him in game 2. If it wasn't for one mistake in game 1, hyperdub would have won 2-0. Really now? Are you serious or trolling? * 2nd place, TeamLiquid SC2 Invitational 1 * 1st place, Go4SC2 ESL Cup #7 * 1st place, Go4SC2 ESL Cup #11 * 1st place, Zotac Cup #12 * 2nd place, PLU.cn Kaspersky Cup * 4th place, Altitude TL Invitational * 4th place, HDH Invitational That's pretty fucking impressive.
Tbh, i dont find that especially impressive.

I want to see more of Hyperdub, since at this point he seems to be the better player. I mean isn't that the point of an elimination format, that the weaker players get eliminated early so we can see games between the strongest players?

How did hyperdub know TLO's position without TLO knowing he sent out the instant SCV? I cant see the vod, but as far as i saw hyperdub pulled the SCV up just to scout then down behind natural for proxy. Does the scv out range the barracks in sight and if so isnt this build betting on that the barracks is far enough away from the ramp?
Im kinda confused by this.

Yeah when I saw the scv go out on the minimap while Tastetosis were doing the intro for game 3, I was thinking wow great choice here by Hyperdub he's probably going to win. Also my heart started to hurt the same way it did when my pet dog get put down for being overly aggressive to other dogs when I was 12 ='(.
