UPDATE: Earlier tonight an error on the MLGPro website occurred that was unable to be known about beforehand. The passes went on sale and they sold out so fast that by the time the problem was found, the passes were already "sold out," but we were supposed to have sold 15 more.
To be fair to everyone that was attempting to buy a pass, the last 15 passes were not added afterwards. The rest of these 15 passes are going to be sold tomorrow at 23:00 GMT (+00:00) (Wednesday) for $60. Nothing is changing with the tournament structure.
Just a reminder to the TeamLiquid.net community: MLG D.C. Passes will be going on sale September 14, 2010, (this upcoming Tuesday) at 23:00 GMT (+00:00).
Thirty-two (32) passes will be available for purchase ($60 per pass for one player) so if you're wanting to show your stuff at MLG in Washington DC on October 15-17th and battle it out for part of that $7000 prize pool, make sure to buy your pass ASAP because these will go very fast. It should be noted that the Top 16 teams from MLG Raleigh will receive reserved passes for this Competition.
If you have any questions regarding anything about the event feel free to post in this thread and I'll do my best to answer it. Please do not turn this thread into a 'invite-only vs. open registration' thread. If it gets that way I will ask TL.net to close it.
The link to purchase the pass can be found HERE.
The venue for the event will be the: Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center . Rates begin at $189 + $15 Resort Fee per night and the deadline is September 22nd 2010. The reservation phone number is 301-965-4000. If the Gaylord fills up a secondary hotel should be opened.
The three Airports closest to the venue: - BWI (Baltimore),
- IAD (Dulles),
- Reagan (DCA)
The hotel is a 15-minute drive from Reagan National Airport and within a 45-minute drive from both Dulles and Baltimore Washington International Airports.
Transportation from Airport:
- Super Shuttle services all three airports. Rates and more are available here.
Parking- $5.00 for first hour
- $12.00 for 0-3 hours self parking
- $19.00 per day self parking/overnight
- $17.00 for 0-3 hours valet parking
- $28.00 per day valet parking/overnight
If you simply wish to come and see the event for yourself, spectator passes are FREE. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks everyone!

Why not host this event at the many LAN centers all around DC area? And is there going to be a spectator area and how much will that cost?

ii'm sooo excited to try again!

Any reason passes were downgraded to 32 again? If anything, I thought it would increase from last time.

What is the deal for spectators? Will they be required to purchase tickets?
Really hope I get a job soon so I can afford to go see this--only live an hour away

I assume they won't be on sale in the same time-frame since I see no mention of it on the site you linked--any idea when they will be on sale?

Looks like there might be invites again. And also could you possibly announce the list of players sooner compare this time compare to Raleigh.

So its a 64 man tournament again, with
16 slots for the top 16 of Raleigh 16 invite slots 32 sold passes
Is this correct?

GAYLORD HARHARHARHAR
jk looking forward to this im 99% going ^^;

HuK, teach me how to be good at starcraft and you can stay at my house for the weekend instead of buying a hotel room in D.C.
|
are there any cheaper hotels within a reasonable distance? 189 per night is insane.
|
There are a TON of hotels in DC, I'm sure there are cheaper options. Make sure to get a hotel within close walking distance, normally don't want to be walking around DC for too long at night, and cabs are not cheap.
|
Yes, top 16 get passes, 16 other invite spots, 32 open spots. I just got my email today (for TT1) lul.

That's going to be tough. This place is a bit out of the way. However, it's not in a bad area at all.
http://tinyurl.com/2w8ejzh You can see it on Google Maps. It's technically not even in DC
|
Oh cool. I stayed over at that resort this summer. It's a pretty posh place. Jealous of all the people who are going to be attending. >_<
|
The Hamptons and Residence Inn are close by and much cheaper. According to tripadvisor <- link - you have the Hampton Inn, Residence Inn, Gaylord National Resort, aloft and the Westin near the National Harbor. But if you plan on going I suggest sharing room with someone who's willing to split the cost unless you have the money to stay by yourself.
|
|
it contradicts itself twice . . . first it says "get a spectator pass" then "open to the public free" then "buy a pass and see for yourself"
I'm gonna assume it's $25 for now since JP said that, haha

It probably is 25$ but well worth it.

There's only one more event currently scheduled after DC, and that's Dallas. Hope for next year I guess
|
the Gaylord Resort there on National Harbor is an amazing place. Can't wait for this!
|
wonder how many of the top 16 wont go because they are going to korea
|
Being able to scrape up enough cash to go to D.C. is quite different from being able to get enough to go to Korea!
|
The last MLG Anaheim was the last west coast event MLG had and should be the last, Sundance was very upset with the turnout and the sales, despite me attending every event they've had on the west coast they pretty much said they aren't coming back... where there were tons of unsold passes for the anaheim event, they have no problem selling 256 passes on the east coast... Also the number of spectators is a lot higher on east coast
The bottom line is the west coast is more spread out, the population is not as dense(see travel distances and costs), and In general I don't believe the gaming communities to be as strong...
It especially sucks cause that was based off of the halo 3 turnout and crowd, and now that it's SC 2 .... Idk what the numbers say, but if SC2> Halo 3 as far as viewers/attendance then they should re-consider visiting the west coast at least once a year like before.

hey JP, are there any viewership figures from MLG Raleigh? I think most of us are really curious how successful it was

I live in the DC area so I would appreciate it if my fellow TL'ers would hold off on buying their tickets until after I have. Awesome, thanks! =]
|
God thats depressing....theres essentially 16ish spots open for sale, The DC community is already enormous on team liquid, let alone the hundreds of people who would make that drive for this event. T.T hope I can get signed up in time ugh...

how did they decide who top 16 were? there were like 8 people or some shiot tied for 17th n such.

They played consolations afterwards to determine seeding.

^ What are you talking about? Top 16 from MLG Raleigh
|
I am SO there as a spectator.
|
Well, I asked someone from MLG about why theres only 16 open signups guaranteed and why they haven't expanded to 64/128 since the tickets sold out in seconds last time, and they are bound to again here.
On bnet he told me "its a 64 person tournament again" which confused me since last time it was a 32 person tournament, but at least there were 32 open signups, now there are between 16 and 32, and it'll probably be closer to 16.
So I said "Oh, I thought the 16 were included in that 32, so does that mean there are 48 open signup spots and 16 invite spots" (which totals 64 like he had mentioned). Now this confused me even more because he started telling me that I don't read the threads when it looks like multiple MLG threads are contradicting themselves (as MLG tends to always do, since they update their website seemingly once every 6 months). He links me to an mlgpro.com link which told nothing, but prefaced it by saying "Open Brackets will support as many as 64 Players." as if he had copy&pasted that from somewhere.
So then I asked him, "so what is it. 32 man bracket wtih 16 spots guaranteed to top 16 from raleigh? 32 open signup spots + the top 16 from last time? 48+16? etc.?"
He then says to me "Nothing has changed since Raleigh" at which I pointed out, how can you say nothing has changed if there were 32 open signups last time, and no seeds, and this time nobodies clarified if it is a 32, 48, 64 man bracket and how many of those signups are open to non top-16 players.
Then he tells me to just post in the thread. So here I am confused as hell, hoping to dear god that someone from MLG in the know can clarify. What is the maximum amount of players in the bracket including the top-16 invitees? 64? Then why does this thread say 32. And are the top-16 invitees separate from the open signups or do they just sign up as well and get priority?
Please dear GOD someone answer me with a legitimate number and answer that doesn't contradict everything.
|
There are 32 open signup positions. The other 32 are filled by invites and seeds.
This is reflected in JP's OP in this thread, as well as Xeris' post on page 2
|
I thought prior to Raleigh they said they weren't going to do invites again lol, guess that changed. But that actually makes sense.
|
When will we know about who was invited and how many of the top 16 have elected to go to DC?
|
Looking for a room/place to stay, send me a PM if interested in splitting anything. Should have flight finalized in a little.
|
This'll be my first LAN event! I can't wait!
|
Hope I can f5 that to sign up fast enough. Also, can't wait for the mandatory TL meet-up. Us DC nerds actually eat Korean food together on an almost-weekly basis. Hopefully we can arrange something larger!
|
We'll have to tell Il Mee to reserve like 100 spots lol
|
Ill Mee is kind of far away, I think, and frankly I imagine a dinner during LAN time is going to have to be earlier than 10PM. We should find somewhere closer before we have to arrange 30 carpools, because everyones likely going to be staying at nearby hotels I imagine.
|
I would not recommend an MLG il mee meetup. any MLG meetups or hangouts should absolutely be in Alexandria or around national harbor. majority of people will be in these areas anyway.

the restaurants in the resort are quite expensive. There are a handful of places all around within walking distance. And then a WHOLE bunch of places across the river a couple miles away in Alexandria.

I do not think there are bus driving around that area. I think your best bet if you are taking the metro is to stop at Ronald Reagan national airport and take a shuttle or taxi from there.
|
Yeah, either find a shuttle from Reagan (metro station, even if you don't fly in from there) or I'd like to say the Green Line Metro Station "Southern Avenue" has a bus route from there to National Harbor. Would have to double check, though.
Being a resort, I would imagine it has paid valet parking or something if you drive there directly.

Question: will the prize pool for MLG DC be bigger/smaller/the same?
Secondary question for JP: I've PM'd Lee but got no response, can I get the pics/interviews we did with Gretorp and TT1? THANKSYO!

I'm guessing prize pool is the same, since its still a circuit event, and usually in the past all their non halo events have the same 7k prize pool for circuit events and then the championship blows up.
Although it could change

Hope to see some familiar faces there!

I can't believe MLG named their event after network problems. Ugh, bnet2 fail, who would buy tickets to watch disconnects?!? =)

Yeah, I literally clicked through purchase the second it came up (F5ing on two browsers) and it was sold out by the time I inputted my CC info. Ridiculous... You'd think for the largest SC2 North American LAN and being officially endorsed by Blizzard, you'd open up more than 32 slots for the public.

I'm pretty sure a 128 passes would sell in an hour.

I got into Raleigh and DC. Clicking fast isn't THAT hard.
You've all known that it would only be 32 people and that it would sold out quickly. I can understand being frustrated but i don't see why anybody would be surprised.

This is just a fucking joke that such a big and sought after tournament fills up so fucking quick and they don't do anything to try and fix this situation. I think before it was only a 32 man which is even more rediculous.....

I'm even more surprised they didn't expand the registration limit after the success it had at Raleigh. I mean, seriously...tickets sold out in 5 minutes for Raleigh. DC Is a more popular venue, plus it's riding on the success of the previous tournament. What the eff was MLG thinking... They might as well make this yet another invitational.

It's the first and only event they've had in DC. I am currently living in DC a 5 minute walk from Mr. Obama about a half hour from the venue lol, they used 1.5 days to play a 64 man bracket last time for an event that books the venue for 3 whole days, tell me why they can't expand to 128 or 256, I PROMISE you it would have sold out in under 10 minutes.

16 invites, they'd be stupid not to give you one if you ask for it when you have more top 2 finishes than nearly every american.
I closed my msn, aim, skype, every window I had, restarted my computer, made sure I was running at optimum speed of the normal 70+ MB/s and 35+ MB/s download upload.
DC is in the middle of the east coast and for a company as big as MLG in a fan base for starcraft 2, I guarantee there'll be players traveling from wisconsin/IL, from Florida, from New york and even further north. The community in this DIRECT area within a 45 minute drive is already enormous and then I guess they thought 64 players is enough when its pretty evident that a full day of a venue could run another 64 people MINIMUM.

If they expanded the tournament, they sure reacted quickly!

<3. And for people wanting the LAN experience, hold the qualifiers there for a day. Even with 32 comps you can get through a good number of qualification rounds fairly quickly and then have a more skilled bracket.
|
Thanks ryan, didn't catch that.

So it's going to be a ... 79 man tournament?

i bet they only did 17 of the 32 tonight? and doing the other 15 tomorrow? unsure

why would they randomly add 15 spots?

hmm so another 15 slots for tomorrow. To bad those will sell out in seconds too :O
|
Earlier tonight an error on the MLGPro website occurred that was unable to be known about beforehand. The passes went on sale and they sold out so fast that by the time the problem was found, the passes were already "sold out," but we were supposed to have sold 15 more.
To be fair to everyone that was attempting to buy a pass, the last 15 passes were not added afterwards. The rest of these 15 passes are going to be sold tomorrow at 18:00 CDT (Wednesday) for $60. Nothing is changing with the tournament structure.

great! thanks for the quick reply JP

This is a very strange format for a tournament. If I was around I might pay 60$ just to hang out with the proplayers and get stomped in first round by someone like HuK. Great story to tell and definately worth 60$ in my book.
Imagine too many people thinking like this and you have a horrible tournament with a lot of no-names and a few invites. I think you should listen to Fayth and add some kind of qualifier or invite procedure to weed out players like me
|
Yeah, would have been nice to see like 16 groups of 6 or something like that to expand but oh well, all their games follow this double elmination bracket and not a group stage bracket like ESL, TSL, GSL, etc.
|
I think MLG can clearly see there is a demand for a larger tournament, but I'm assuming that it's just logistical reasons holding them back. Maybe not enough computers/admins/hardware/space for a bigger tournament. I'm just talking out of my ass though. Hopefully that's the case and we can fix it.
|
I guess in 2011 they'll probably fix that and host larger tournaments and put qualifiers on B.net before hopefully. At the same time, i guess it's fun for locals to go play vs pros.
|

I'm pretty sure that in 2011 they will increase the size of the tournament. Almost positive in fact. But I don't believe they will have qualifiers. It's their style to run an open LAN event where locals and no names can go to have their chance at the big time. And I think it's a good thing; give some randoms their chance at fifteen minutes of fame by knocking down a famous player to the loser bracket.

I think they said something about having a Game Battles league and hopefully from there you could compete for spots at the tournament.

I apologize for creating another thread about MLG DC. I wasn't attempting to break the forum policy, or be annoying. I just wanted to have a thread so people could ask questions, and a representative from MLG could answer them. I will use this thread to do so, so if you have any questions, please ask away, and I will answer them in a timely manner.
I just wanted to post this here since this was a popular question for those needing to make travel arrangements to DC.

# All Players must submit their mouse, keyboard, and headset driver requirements by 11:59 PM ET on Monday, October 11th. No drivers, that have not been previously submitted, will be installed at the Washington D.C. Competition.
I use Logitech software (setpoint) with my g5 mouse to rebind mouse 4 and mouse 5 to 8 and 9. Is that considered a driver or disallowed as 3rd party software?
Referees will conduct a Blind Pick of Races for Game 1 of a Match.
What the hell does that mean o.0? You can't pick your race unless you lose?

Why you would come here to vacation, however, is beyond me =p.
DC might be worth a gander, just to check out the (quite literally) ancient buildings and greek style architecture, but I dunno. Seems boring is all :3.

You should go to www.mlgpro.com/teambuilder and complete the express check-in. In the Teambuilder, you will just put your birth date, and contact information. If your over 18, you will check a box that is basically you signing the media release form. If your under 18, you will need to print off the parental consent form, and have your parents sign it, and then take it to check-in at the event.
As for your MLG Username, yes, that is what will be on the Bracket for DC. You can change your username by going here: http://gamebattles.com/account/edit . Your MLG Username will work on this site, so you should just use the same Username/Password to sign into Gamebattles in order to change your username.

Just to clarify, we do not force the players to stay in the MLG hotel. Players can stay where ever they like. We just get discounted rooms at the hotel where the venue is located at.

I saw a lot of people had friends getting passes for them, as well as themselves, to make sure they got in. If anyone has an extra I'll gladly buy it from you.
And in the future, how bout holding an online qualifier for the slots instead of this who can click 2 buttons the fastest at 7. Or at least make the tournament bigger if you are selling out in 4 seconds. Really frustrating, I live 15 mins from DC and can't go because I clicked 2 buttons slower.
|
I understand that www.mlgpro.com/teambuilder was not working. Registration is now opened, so please go there and fill out your birthdate and contact information to finish online confirmation.

make fee lower have online qualifier top 64 go to dc to duke it out.... i dont see why not
|
So i hear there will not be any invite's beside's Top 16 from MLG NC.
Which seems fair except when EG has to keep eliminating each other in the first 3 rounds of a tournament..
|
How are there not going to be invites if they only released 32 public tickets? Wouldn't they need to do another release of 16?
|
SunDevil, I think 32 tickets sold, the top 16 had reserved tickets, and there were 16 more invites based off.. i dont know, people they thought were cool or ladder or something. I know if people choose not to purchase their reserved seating, more tickets will be released, anyway.
Also, I posted this in another thread, but this is why I believe its currently limited to 64 players.
I think they'll have to wait until next circuit to really make any changes to it. I believe that during Raleigh they didn't expect such a large interest, and didn't procure the right amount of hardware, support and space in the convention center. For the sake of seedings and whatnot, they can't change the format until next circuit/season/whatever because winning a 64-man tournament can't and shouldn't be worth the same amount of points as a 128-man or 256-man (even if that's only adding 1-2 rounds respectively for the winner.) Doing so would skew the rankings for someone like HuK if he were to lose in DC.
If you want my bet, they'll keep running it in its current format until next circuit, where they'll be sure to have plenty of space and hardware available to run something really big and really good. The inclusion of Starcraft 2 in to MLG was a sudden decision, and I imagine they stuck it in the deepest corner of the convention center (being as that no matches were played on the main stage.) Events are planned and space is purchased many many many many months in advance. Only events that they plan from now on will have the chance to be higher than 64 players, I bet.
I cant prove it by any means, but I think its sound logic anyway. Hopefully 2011 will see much larger tournaments.

They sold 32 open passes and have 16 from the top 16 last event. Since they've been saying its a 64 man bracket, the last 16 spots have to come from SOMEWHERE, and I'm guessing its invites?

@MLG Deimos : any ideas when 16 invites (not top 16 raleigh) are gonna be announced?
|
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what exactly is the team builder? Also, once we purchase our pass do we have to do anything else or just await further information?
|
Question: will the event ONLY be Friday + Saturday, or will there be games on Sunday? (in Raleigh there was only SC2 on Friday+Saturday) ...
I want to know if I should book a flight back Sunday or Monday ~_~!
|
Are you asking if theres going to be exhibition matches or open computers for playing Sunday? The tournament is only friday+saturday, anyway, but I don't know what happens Sunday (if anything).
|
There are no official MLG SC2 events during Sunday

That's where you should go after you purchase your pass to put your birthdate and contact information in.

How are invites being given out? Can we fight for them or are u just gonna pick random popular people?
|
^ Random skilled popular people

For people that are looking to book rooms, I highly recommend looking at the Hampton Inn and Suites, it's close to the Gaylord and is significantly cheaper while still being a nice place.

I am also offering a fold out couch and floor space, just send a PM i live in DC

I asked this before, but I think it got missed:
# All Players must submit their mouse, keyboard, and headset driver requirements by 11:59 PM ET on Monday, October 11th. No drivers, that have not been previously submitted, will be installed at the Washington D.C. Competition.
I use Logitech software (setpoint) with my g5 mouse to rebind mouse 4 and mouse 5 to 8 and 9. Is that considered a driver or disallowed as 3rd party software?

M4-8 and M5-9 are both just one action. They obvioiusly disallow macros (multiple actions from one button press)

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe that they are okay with rebinding. It was brought up in the MLG Raleigh thread.
It would be best to contact MLG support at their website though, or just play it safe and not rebind anything.

I am a bit confused with the mouse settings.
I use a Razer Deathadder 3500, the drivers for this mouse let me change the functions of each button. I use this to bind my thumb button to CTRL.
From what I gather from this will not be allowed. Is this correct?

Find your headset manufacturer's website and look for driver requirements for the headset. If it's a simple headset, it won't require any drivers.
Heck, I don't think any headset that aren't USB require drivers, but who knows.

do we have a player list yet?
|
Seeding for Washington DC will be done in the following manner:
Players will be seeded using SC2 Pro Circuit Rank Points. Ties will be broken randomly. Players with no SC2 Rank Points will be seeded randomly. No Players will have SC2 Rank Points until the Washington D.C. Competition.
The top 32 players from the Raleigh event will have Pro Rank Points based on their final placing in Raleigh. So, the top 32 will be seeded according to the amount of Pro Rank Points they have. The other 32 players will be seeded randomly.
Rank Points: http://pro-circuit.mlgpro.com/pro-circuit/2010/washington-dc/starcraft-2-1v1/rank-points

Pro tip on hotels in DC (I lived there a long time and often would get hotels on the weekends when I wanted to go clubbing and didn't want to drive to the suburbs).
Check http://www.kimptonhotels.com/ for vacancies at the last minute (give yourself enough time to cancel your current reservations.)
Some of the hotels will have $400/night suites for $150 or so if they haven't sold out if you check like the day before -- some of them will sleep like 6-8 people comfortably.

I don't really have a USB keyboard and I read that "players MUST bring their own keyboard/etc." Will there be tournament-provided keyboards for those of us (maybe just me) who don't plan on bringing their own, or do I have to find a USB keyboard somewhere? If so, any idea what brand/model they are?
I know that ideally someone wants to have a keyboard that they're most comfortable with, but seeing as that adapters are out of the question, I just want to know whether I need to run out and buy USB keyboard tomorrow, or if there's one they'll be supplying that is "close enough".
Also, I take it earplugs (so long as they are 3.5mm stereo) are perfectly fine, right?

So I spent 150 on a keyboard I cannot use and now i have to go spend another 100 dollars on a keyboard to get a similar feel. I also cannot find a retailer that sells it so i can just buy it and return it afterwards great.

Wow, I had no idea that could actually happen. Well good to know, I guess I will have to get a USB keyboard then!

If any of you all who registered are as slow at checking your e-mail as I am, seems like they sent an e-mail to all participants with a little questionnaire and a player packet (most of which is covered in this thread.)

Edit from Nokarot: Oops, sorry My bad.

Does anyone know if Socke will participate again?

I hope you get some video coverage done for DC.. you were the only guy who gave us any real coverage from the Raleigh event.. it was quite sad there wasn't more from anyone else to be honest.
Nobody even interviewed gretorp / incontrol ( not counting the 1 minute eg interview ) last event .. i mean come on!
|
I am going to be taking tons of video both days to post up on TL since I won't be playing.

Yep, I'll be interviewing a lot more of the players this time around. Last time didn't go as smoothly as I would have liked and it was also my first time at a live event so I was a bit nervous around some of the players and the environment in general. I never really knew if I was overstepping my bounds or what, but by now I should be a lot more comfortable there. Lee also told me he would try to hook me up with a desk spot this time around so that I can be a lot more 'live' with my updates and footage.

Passes are free, then? I heard in Dallas they were gonna be 25$
|
Passes are free for D.C. because it is a Combine event. Dallas is not a combine event and is $25 because of that.

ive been a bit short on cash lately so i couldnt play this season but if SC2 comes back i was going to try future stuff but i have a question, as i plan on trying to get out to future events when they happen and want to be ready.
"Keyboards and mice must have USB inputs. PS2s are NOT allowed. PS2>USB adapters are NOT permitted. NO EXCEPTIONS"
ive been using a steel series 7g for years in competitive pc gaming but, what is the problem with an adapter that goes from ps2 to USB as thats how that keyboard was designed?
edit:just to clarify i do understand there can be issues with ps2 keyboards with potentially damaging stuff, but i dont understand what the use of an adapter has to do with this as it uses the USB port.

Zlasher going for ESUnited. LuckyFool for insideresports. There will be Xersis who hopefully does what he did last time for Fnatic. TeamLiquid will most likely have their live blog as they did for Raleigh. I will be going as well for EG, but I have not heard anything back from MLG for a press pass so I'm not too sure what I'll be able to do till then.
But I can guarantee pre-live-post coverage for MLG DC will be better.

Dallas spectating will not be free, and passes will be 25$, which can either be purchased online, or at the door.

So the adapters are no longer permitted.

heh thats kind of awkward. the chance your speaking of does not exist with a standard USB keyboard as the issues change between ps2 and usb. as the ps2 port issue doesnt exist with a USB port, with an adapter or not.
so you basically banned usb adapters over an over reaction. as the damage that is caused by PS2 is due to the fact that system isnt meant to be swapped live and could potentially have charge that causes damage. but USB solves this issue as the metal usb casing on the outside comes into contact with a ground first before anything that has power comes into contact thus preventing any type of damage that a PS2 port can have.

Wow nice, I got a press pass too, would actually be nice if I could get one too to upload footage as I go. I made a new youtube channel, hoping I can get as many subscribers as possible, so I can upload all my interviews and venue reviews and stuff.

Hey, MLG_Lee,
I know this is slightly offtopic, but what happened to the replays from MLG Raleigh? Are those still being processed or was there some mix-up that caused them to be lost?
Thanks
|
Wow, everyones asking for it all at once lol. Prior to Raleigh they announced the list with a good amount of time before the event but this time I think that they're waiting for the right time to release it. I think we will all have our minds blown at how star studded this list will be compared to Raleigh.
|
I think so too. Just a hunch.
It's too bad they can't release the list early in order to drum up the hype and potentially increase the amount of spectators traveling in. I'm sure there's TONS of work behind the scenes that prevents them from releasing it though.
|
The player list will be released within the next couple of days. When it's posted on MLGPro.com, I will make a post here as well with the list.

MLG D.C. is less than two weeks away! The debut MLG StarCraft 2 Event in Raleigh was a huge success, and many of the top players from that competition will be returning to play in D.C. They will be joined by some of the game's biggest names, for a roster that will offer the best in competitive StarCraft 2. Huk and Kiwikaki, the Top 2 finishers in Raleigh, will be joined by fellow Protoss player and Brood War legend White-Ra. Protoss and Terrans dominated Raleigh, but will be challenged in D.C., as Idra, the Zerg macro king, will be flying in from Korea to attend.
With such an incredible lineup, the competition will be fierce. There's no reason for you to miss a second of it: D.C. is free to spectate! If you can't make it out to D.C., for only $10 an HD pass will give you full access to all the action, with special features and a high-quality live stream that's almost as good as being there in person.

Anyone seen a detailed schedule yet? What time does it start on friday, etc.?
|
|
So I'm stuck at a wedding (not mine) rehearsal on Friday and the wedding proper on Saturday. I will probably be going out of my skin missing all of this--especially since I live in the DC area and would definitely be at the tournament if not for the wedding.
So I've gotta know: where can I expect to find the VODs on Sunday? http://tv.majorleaguegaming.com/ ?
|
Hi, I just heard day9 talking about this weekends mlg tournament and that he was going to be there. Is he also casting the games and can one even watch the games there (for free) ?
|
....That question has been answered. Scroll up.
Day9 is there as a commentator, you can watch the stream free when it goes up around 5 PM EST at mlgpro.com, not every game is streamed but you will surely find many games there.

I am wondering why USB headsets aren't allowed(Only 3.5mm). I tried searching for the reasoning via Google and the TL search function but couldn't find an answer.

Something about that they could potentially break the computers. It has happened before I think
|
USB headsets sometimes require additional drivers/software or PC reboot which I assume gives a similar issue/concern to the whole PS/2 short circuiting MLG computers at Raleigh.

cant happen as USB is grounded in its port on insertion, before contact is made with connectors. additional drivers/software is a possibility, but i dont see why that would be an issue as mlg makes you submit what you need loaded before hand.(the restart with every usb headset i know that requires it are after the drivers are loaded)
PS/2 "shortcircuting" only happens in PS/2 ports. Damaged or faulty USB ports can get similar results, but that can happen with anything that was defective when plugged into such ports. never did get a response back on why USB adapters werent allowed though =/

That rule is for people who sign up for more than one race. This is prevent from two people who play multiple races to keep changing races when the other person picks his race. They explained this rule at MLG Raleigh.

Wasn't sure who to contact about this directly, so I figure I would post it in here. The Upcoming Events Schedule is wrong for today and Saturday, saying the tourney starts today at 10:30am and ends at 11:30pm, and that it starts Saturday at 8am and ends at 7pm. Well Saturday seems close enough.

Damnit, that has been asked so many times. It means the referee will ask what races the players are playing so that they can't change mid series or something like that.
|
when will the brackets be posted?
|
Sorry if this has been asked, I read through the website and here and it sounded like you could but wanted to double check before I spent the money.
I'll be traveling this afternoon and working tomorrow, if I buy the HD pass will I be able to go back and rewatch the matches/casts from the day? I don't want to buy it if I miss it live and then can't see it anyway.
|
+ Show Spoiler +Does anyone know, is there a free LQ stream or is the only option the HQ paid stream?
Thanks, never-mind, I just found the answer on the website. Looks like there is a regular stream.
|
Brackets won't be posted until the half hour that the event actually begins, if it's anything like Raleigh was.

I believe there is a one hour replay feature that allows you to skip the live stream into the past a maximum of one hour. What they have done at past MLG Events is after a streaming day is over, they will restream, what I believe to be the whole day (can't confirm because I have never actually sat down and watched a whole day twice in a row). So if the restream happens and it contains the whole day and you are able to watch it, or you can start watching from an hour after the start. You are probably gonna miss a ton of footage rendering an HD pass useless.
Hope this helps.

I also can;t login with my HD-password yet. "incorrect password or username" T__T

^^ Yes it does. Thanks, will save the money and just hope to see some VODs and replays after.
