the best sc2 event(so far) deserves it imo

I have not seen every group just group A since now and is it just by me or Group A is full of amazing players more than others ? I know Im on TL web but I hope MadFroG wins the final !

From the ESL Team in Cologne: Thank you all so much for watching ESL Tv and for all the positive feedback! We are very proud of having run a great Starcraft 2 tournament today without delays and we will do our very best to make all viewers happy again tomorrow! Thank you and thanks to the crew, the press and the casters! <3
|
Loving the SC2 coverage.. so glad you guys could get Day[9] out there!
What's with all the no-shows on the Quake side of things?
|
Been an awesome tournament so far even though I can't watch them live, at least there's vods
|
Awesome tournament and great gamescom so far. But searching the esl vod archives is a real hassle and preloading the videos takes forever.

Nice way to centralize all the threads on this.

Been one hell of a tournament so far + Show Spoiler +My dreams of a Morrow v Idra final doesn't seem so far fetched anymore

Day9s free casts? I thought there was only the mini wannabe video screen for free esl tv and glhf? Other than that had to pay for a subscription? Am I wrong? Can someone please link mento the correct place
|
zTz: that's correct, the only free stuff on ESL is tiny res. I was saying that even the VODs you pay for on ESL are low quality compared to SC2 streams/VODs you can get free elsewhere.
|
Can someone please post a link for the day 3 vod's from sites that dont have the garbage bandwidth and quality that the esl site itself has?
|
While it's awesome that this event is going on, and it's great Intel and Razor have put in a great prizepool, I simply can't say anything nice about ESL.
The ESL website is extremely confusing, and the Vod quality is about as low as one can get, plus it literally takes 3 hours to wait to load up any vod so that it's watchable, it's like trying to stream on dialup. Please ESL folks get your act together, honestly the coverage and organization just seems really substandard from a fan's perspective.
|
Pretty disappointed with the streaming.

Second those. What kind of organization is this?

Organization and the offline tournament is great but the online services ARE AWFULL... really.

You get used to the ESL website. The tab system is confusing at first though. An American friend told me that he had to wait 30 minutes to buffer a vod to 10 minutes. As a European, I don't have this problem as there's no buffering time.
|
How do I get the stream to work? On SC2.TV it just keeps looping commercials, and on ESL TV it says stream not found.
|

I get the same issue however anything involving octoshape just gives me stream not found errors in both IE and Firefox.
|
As an American user, I was having a hard time dling the vods as well and came up with a halfway decent work around. I was so frustrated by the slow streams I finally just ran a packet sniffer on the stream to get the direct link to the .flv file and download it directly. This worked fairly well but esl.tv hosting blocks multiple connections from the same IP, so no mass dling without multiple proxies...
Anyway... It seems at night in the US the streams are better, but clearly ESL has major hosting issues to work around, in addition to their "premium" vod video quality. I mean really, how hard is it to host a mirror in the US?
Regardless I am happy they are available at all but if you are going to do something, and in particular, sell something, then do it right, yeah?

A link to the same thread we are in seems kind of pointless.

where's the day 5 thread?

Such an OSL ripoff with the entrance for the final.
|
I was there yesterday got to see the semi finals. Very nice Setup indeed
|
Insane finish, I loved the finals.
Now the wait starts for the replays.
|
personally i enjoyed the 3rd place games more than the finals themselves. Still a bunch of pretty good games to watch
|
I really enjoyed the final day, there were some interesting games... still would have liked to see IdrA win and maybe have had TLO in the final instead of Morrow, not a fan of Morrow's attitude. Great games though, fun to watch.
|
gg's from what I saw, although I was rather appalled by the interviewer especially after the finals + Show Spoiler +it was like a giant fuck you to idra pretty much saying everyone says you're the best but you clearly arn't because you lost 3-1 now don't cry imba, oh yeah you think they'll fix zerg soon?
|
i just wanted the show of a lifetime and 5 racks imba rush is not the show of a lifetime.. also i agree @ the spoiler
|
I have compiled a replay pack of all games of this tournament. Only one replay is missing, and that is the Group D match DeMusliM vs Strelok round 3 (the round on Delta Quadrant. The other two - Scrap Station + Lost Temple - are included in this pack). If anyone can get a hold of this replay, please send me a PM!

Amazing tournament and event, lotsa good games, drama, problems. ESL can be MORE than proud looking forward to next IEM <3
|
lol i swear TLO walks onto the stage with such swagger
|
metagame is changing to early baneling to counter reapers.
i'm serious. reaper does 7 dps to baneling compared to 16 dps to zergling, and reaper can't kite-kill banelings without getting splashed by acid.
|
I was at gamescom and it was reallly nice !!
|
I think the tourny ppl had the right idea for the online stream. Instead of having it just have people load up and crash the server, it was made to be shared through everyone else. There was no really no lag issue and I got to see some really awesome games. I really don't know why a lot of people were complaining.
|
Anyone knows where i can find the post game interviews of idra vs morrow and/or the prize ceremony, im looking like crazy for that stuff! much obliged.
|
I was at the semifinals and the finals at gamescon. So much better than watching on crappy stream. You are so close to the players and day9, very awesome to see their faces in real life. Also, you get to see stuff that doesn't get caught on camera.
Only for those who have watched the finals: + Show Spoiler +Like Idra walking away instantly after the post-game interview, to avoid shaking Morrow's hand ;-)
Awesome event, very good plays and casting.
|
was a great tourney looking forward to all future tourney's.
Intel sponsor Tl.net already we know you want to.

+ Show Spoiler +This event proved to me that Terran is incredibly OP right now. I was actually irritated after watching the finals. I don't think MorroW is a better player than IdrA, or even played better. Morrow used the same strategy every single game, like most Terran have been doing.

Hmm. + Show Spoiler +What about IdrA's queens getting to 100+ energy? It's difficult to play on stage, there've been sloppy moments from each player. MorroW had usually very tight execution, and his builds are quite optimized. He makes it look easy, because he is good, but it's not. My main race is zerg, but I've played enough terran to comprehend it's not that easy to perform these 5rax strats optimally. MorroW also showed he's not a cheeser - which we already knew - he could play up to similar macro level with IdrA and transition or completely replace the strat. You are incorrect when you claim he made the same thing every game, watch them again. Yes, I'd agree that perhaps nobody has the macro skills of IdrA yet, but MorroW is one of the few quite close to it, and you should give the guy more credit. I don't disagree with terrans being OP, but it's also not exaggerated to the point when some random terran can beat IdrA. You should probably check out more about MorroW; he actually should have been seeded in the first place, and was one of the favorites from the beginning.
|
+ Show Spoiler +Well I'm swedish so sure I'm glad MorroW won, and indeed Idra made some mistakes... But overall IdrA should've won. He was just so superb in the first two games and in the games before those before MorroW. It is obvious he was angered by the Reaper play by MorroW and to be true; Which other race can pump up so much preasure so fast on 1 base and still go into such a powerfull midgame? Secondly I hate Blizzards maps... From what I've seen BW was so epic in the fights due huge maps: Sure we do not need as huge of maps but all these small maps with narrow shokes just tire and bore me. They're just so great for Terran 99% of the time with tanks, shokes, reapers etc. whereas Zerg are so punished by them.
Don't want to derail topic so I'll stop here. It was a great tournament and I was amazed by Dimage and IdrA. MorroW/IdrA had some good matches... but going mass reapers shouldn't be so damned effective. There's just no reason at all not to do it. It made for boring matches and both IdrA and Dimage just had to do so many things to counter such simple tier pushing.
Great tournament, Love Day9! Me and my girlfriend had great times watching it ! Hope to see more of this ! Although the german guy and the boothbabes were really bad: The players were awesome and Dimage was such a charming guy.
gg !
EDIT: And most of all, I just wish to point out that MorroW himself said that Reapers are an imbalanced build against zerg...
|
|
Awesome tournament.
+ Show Spoiler +I think that this is a prime example of how zerg is punished hard for slacking on macro (you miss a larva inject? have fun with your extra energy and no units! forget to mule? no problem!) However, you cannot take credit away from MorroW, he used what he had available to him and won decisively. You can bet that IdrA is just going to play even harder after that loss, you could tell how upset he was about it, so expect to see IdrA to smash kids as soon as he's given the opportunity.

Seemed like the same strat over and over to me.
MorroW is a great player but I still don't think he necessarily outplayed IdrA, though IdrA didn't spread creep tumors enough and he forgot to inject sometimes in the late game.

It would be pertinent to add that MorroW beat TLO, Dimaga and IdrA in BoXs in this tournament. That is an amazing result.
GJ MorroW!

Can anyone explain why idra didn't go mutas on blistering sands? At some point he was floating 1000/1000, with a spire up he could have just pumped 10 mutas and won...
Especially after terran took the gold he was spread way too thin to defend mutas with just marines, and ultras came too late and aren't really effective against MM anyway

That was the issue, people think he forgot to put down a spire. His spire was REALLY late, so he likely THOUGHT he built a spire, and then was going to get 8 or so mutas.

Yeah i know, but probably due to the insane reaper pressure and that leading to him losing his cool too, thus twice the pressure and half the concentration...

Reapers really need to be fixed against zerg. I don't even play zerg and it kind of infuriates me at how retarded they are against it. The concept of reaper overall isn't a bad idea but the fact that they can be massed (and succeed) is kind of dumb. They also don't hurt you economically and actually help as you can expand really early due to map control and very, very, very cheap mineral cost.
MorroW and IdrA are both obviously very good players but I think IdrA deserved the win more.
|
so boring to watch so much reaper play... only game that was even interesting was game2. and it really didn't seem like idra got out played... just... what do you do before tier 2 against those reapers?
