What levels do you think the pro and amateur leagues will be at? I don't know which one to join.
I'm a ~500 diamond player... but yea that doesnt mean much either way.

You should be right for the pro tournament, even if you don't win and are placed in the top 3 the prize pool is better than if you won the amateur tourney.

There may or may not be some 'famous' people, you will have to make your choice before 11:30am on September the 11th.

Diamond doesn't mean your a really good player unless you are top 20 or so, in that case it would be silly to join the amateur event. I'm low Diamond and am no better then Platinum players. I get rolled by anyone who's actually good.

I think XIN needs to take a hand in splitting people up rather than leaving it to be randomly decided. Even something like all diamond play in pro and plat down in amateur or diamond + plat in pro and gold down in amateur. I know leagues aren't hard and fast in how good people are, but otherwise I can see what Deth said happening very easily, because although 3rd prize pro is better than 1st prize amateur, 3rd prize amateur is better than 4th - last in pro :S

I can assure you that the Pro tournament is far from empty, it may even have more people than the amateur one. I know leagues aren't hard and fast in how good people are, but otherwise I can see what Deth said happening very easily, because although 3rd prize pro is better than 1st prize amateur, 3rd prize amateur is better than 4th - last in pro :S This was discussed when organizing the event however a few things came up. 1. The reason we decided to have two tournaments was so that even casual players can get in on the fun, there is only a hand full of hardcore players in Aus that are pro material and I myself would not enter this tournament if I heard some of the big names entering, this way both the hardcores and the casuals can enjoy a tournament and have a chance at winning. 2. We want people to have a choice, If we were to restrict players based on league/rank and if someone was in plat-di league and believed that their chances of winning the pro tournament is very slim than you would not enter the tournament at all resulting in an empty tournament. If someone was to enter the pro tournament than lose it would be their own fault for entering a tournament that was above their level, in the end it's still their own choice. 3. We had thought of making the 1st/2nd/3rd prizes for both tournaments the exact same and only allow people in a certain league to enter one or the other, first of all if we go back to point 2, the amateur tournament will have a decent pool of players but the pro tournament would be empty, we didn't want this. There are many ways to separate the pros from the amateurs but there is always loop holes. 4. If there was a restriction that plat-di ranks could only enter the pro tournament I know for a fact that I along with many others would purposely lose matches to be placed in a lower league in order to participate in the amateur tournament. At least this way it is evident that players in higher leagues will enter the pro tournament and everyone is well aware of that before entering. 5. From the entries we have had so far (as stated above) the way we have decided to go about it has proved to be effective. There really is no need for me to explain all these things to you since the results speak for them self.
