Has there ever been a BW tournament with $3500 for 1st place?

Uh I doubt there has been any BW tournament with the exact same prize money but there have been tournaments that have more than ten times that amount of money for the winner.

GG and a really interesting tourney with great decisions in the finals - the better man won and a stupid instant win could only spoil all the fun and sportsmanship.

So, Dimaga loses to hidden expo, like in Kulas Ravine. Very strong mindgames by Cool in this series. I felt that Dimaga had better ZvZ understanding and micro, but Cool just has devastating BoX know-how.

Wp by both players and ggs!

Congratulations to both, the first and second place prize money looks really good. I like the series between DIMAGA and Check more, but this one was fun too!

Great tourney, btw.

still in beta and SC2 got a lot of tournament w big prizes.
Part of the inhumanity of the computer is that, once it is competently programmed and working smoothly, it is completely honest.

The games were close, any of them could win. I don't really see koreans "dominating" EU in SC2 because of this final.

They got more players a high level, but the ones at a higher level are playing the same as the high level europeans.

Well, Dimaga is just a beast. He is miles and miles ahead of any other European zerg that I've seen. I like how Europe is doing so far in SC2, but honestly, apart from Dimaga, TLO (Terran), White-Ra and perhaps DeMusliM, I don't think there are any real European challengers to the #1 spot. In America, it seems only IdrA is on that level.

Anyway, I'm only judging on the various tournaments that I have seen so far.

I'm really disappointed that the Chinese players aren't very strong yet apart from Sen (ignoring China/Taiwan controversy). I'm not sure why, but their play hasn't been very inspiring. I'm guessing it's because a lot of them come from WC3 backgrounds, and the ones who do come from SC1 like PJ and F91 are either lacking practice or weren't that good in SC1 anyway.

That's pretty much what I meant. While Europe is got only a few, you could easily name over 10 koreans that are in the same level as them. It's just a matter of quantity, but the quality is pretty much the same!

I'm glad DIMAGA went to the finals after beating Freedom and Check, and had a close game (4-3) against one of the best zergs of the beta. Showed that, at least for now, europeans is got chances in tourneys with asians (specially koreans).
