Idra must've been overlord capped before the battle (also I think he probably lost another overlord we didn't see?).
He had lots of idle larvae at his natural when the attack was underway.

I've been practicing vs that 4 gate push, and I''ve decided it's impossible to try to block with hydra, you have to switch to roach and get the spines up earlier or you lose like 9/10 games. There's a way to get 6 roaches, 15 lings and 4 crawlers when the push arrives and still be way ahead in drones but it's tricky to balance.

It wasn't that surprising that WR's push worked. WR made a timing push and Idra had way too few units even though he scouted and then all his zerglings went suicide.

I think the issue is he tried too late to move the spinecrawlers forward and gave White-ra too much time to just sit and attack them without them being able to do anything back.

Yes it has showed off from Idra and also the asian players, that training 12h/day give them a definite advantage. See the eu vs asia series, with asia winning almost every game.
