before tempests and lib range: threaten terran army so they can't siege chokes, try to pre-blanket libs with storms, buy time, then blink and focus fire when you fully engage while microing robo units out of lib circles if you win the ground fight

against mass lib/lib range you need tempests

Hi, I want some tips/help

What's the best way to deal with a maxed out Battlecruiser/Viking composition??

I usually go tempests/storms/stalkers, but my army control is so bad (keep in mind this comes from a plat protoss with 100 average apm)

I try to kite my tempests agaisnt BCs, but my slow-moving templars stay behind and gets killed before I land any good storms, then the vikings just chase and kill the tempests while BCs are killing my stalkers, and if I kill their army, they can just remax on bio and destroy this composition

is there something I'm missing, or the problem is really just my army control?

hi, how do you counter some standard terran push with marine tanks and a raven, what build do you use when you just want to play macro/safe.

I do a colossus build with robo first and i get obs to see the widow mine drop (if i go twilight first i die to widow mine drop, can't react fast enough at my rank), but the problem is that the terran push kills me because he disable my colossus and then his army is way stronger than mine.
I don't really know what build i should use to counter that.

move onto the map with your army and force him to siege up his tanks + use raven disables before he's at your base, then run away. if you do this correctly you should buy time for a warpin and to get your colossus back.

another way is to go templar archives, make only 1 templar, do not research storm, and use the templar only for feedbacks before the fight. if you're low level the terran probably won't micro his raven very well

or, you can go mass gateway charge style where you get +1 armor or double forge and go mass zealot with 8-12 stalkers, and just try to spread out your zealots against anti armor missile. charge may be nerfed soon but right now it's very strong especially at lower levels

My personal favorite is to go double forge gateway style + immortals with fast charge. I always keep my initial adepts alive to have map vision to know when the push is coming. When I know, I tend to delay my 3rd and rather go for 1-2 shield batteries and 2 extra gates first (depends how many tanks the Terran uses). Always try to get the Terran as early as possible on the map, especially when charge is not done yet.

Hi,

So let me start this by saying, I have played a lot of SC2 in the past. At the start of LoTV I was doing something in my personal life that caused a lot of stress and between that and ladder I had to give something up to make life easier on myself. I've dabbled a bit over the last few years, but I've never really gotten back into the swing of coming home, grinding some ladder and getting off.

Recently a friend decided he wanted to try SC2 for the first time and I've kinda been helping him out a bit here and there. However it got me wanting to play SC2 again, but in a Post Husky, Post Day[9] world where the timings and mechanics of the game have changed so much since LoTV, I'm not exactly sure where to even start trying to get up to date.

I have mostly been sticking to macro mechanics. I am perfectly aware if one can nail their probes and pylons then they can easily get to around Plat level in a week or two without having really any idea what the meta is. However as you can rather quickly get to situations where your opponents are just as capable as you are with macro, I would like to know anything I can about the current metas and strategies that are popular in the game. What are the resources for learning these things these days? I know its kind of a huge question to ask here, but I am genuinely curious where someone who's "new" or returning after years of being gone would go to learn these things, short of watching hours of pro-gameplay and hoping to figure out what they're doing, especially since while I can probably figure it out, explaining it to someone who's trying to learn the game is going to be very difficult.

This is half to vent more than anything but I think I've found the most infuriating gimmicky one-off terran style to play against. I played someone who opened one base cyclone/marine/tank push with SCV autorepair into expand into literal non-stop maru-like doom drops targeting multiple bases at the same time. While doing this they did not expand, but instead built mass turrets and tanks at home. The entire intent of this build is to force a basetrade and stop the protoss from getting onto 3 bases properly. They never fight directly, just target pylons, the cybernetics core, and workers. Every time your units get in range they pick up and boost out.

It's one of those terran builds where if you know what they're doing, it's easy to stop, but without knowing it basically becomes a build order loss. The problem is this person also has BC rushed before and both require different responses. I guess one option is to open stargate+charge. Blink just doesn't cut it. If you don't catch all the medivacs immediately you just lose.

How do you counter gas - pool - hatch -> baneling bust / Ravager ling allin?

Both are hard to counter, I find it rare to scout which of the two it is, and I just dunno what to do.

I try to go gate, gate, cyber, nexus, stargate, making 1 zealot then adepts (maybe a sentry if I feel its bb, stalkers if its roach, but mostly, i dont really know, at least not early enough to really react.

Even if I chrono it, by the time the first stargate unit is out my wall is broken and im pretty much dead.

Yo. There is no "resource" you can learn "all meta stuff" from. There are some generic guids for races on some popular noob-friendly channels like Winter's or something. They are meant to introduce you to the core mechanics, but that's it. You cant keep up with meta like that. Starcraft is too complex (and constantly changing) to have everything explained in a single guide. That's the reason one doesnt exist. You have to figure it out all by yourself. Isn't it the best part the game?

how do you guys react when the zerg hatch block your natural ?

Do you use probes to destroy the hatch and how many probes do you pull ?

Or do you chronoboost a zealot and add second gate gas pylon to not interrupt the build order ?

Pull 5 probes. Chrono zealot and then chrono probes nonstop.

Get a quick second pylon (and don't forget the third pylon) so you can continue to probe non stop.

Core will go down after zealot is started.

Hey guys,

I'm really struggeling against those mass Battlecruisers Late Game.
I usually play Carrier/Tempest/Archon against those, but I'm just getting beaten in straight up fights. Do I need to bait Jumps and the batter them down from afar or is there a composition that can actually beat them?

PS: Splitting Units against Yamato and Air Upgrades are granted.

if someone has an answer to above i would like to hear it as well. any pro game i can remember where Terran gets mass BC (10+) they eventually jump on top of the tempests and win. not balance whining, genuinely just curious if it's considered viable to play passive against BC

as a ladder player i struggle a lot against terrans who turtle on 2 base bio or mech while constantly producing single (double?) starport BCs and harassing with them. i feel i get stuck spending gas on stalkers/air tech to defend without being able to respond effectively, because i don't have enough practice to react well, which results in me being too passive and letting T get to mass air

Carriers are awful vs BCs and terran in general, don't make them.

You want mass tempests and the key is to save recalls to teleport away whenever they try to jump on you. Other than that just keep chipping away at one BC at a time with superior range.

BCs on 2 bases is really expensive so massing blink stalkers then add some chargelot archon while expanding faster can just overwhelm them with units, preventing them from ever getting a 3rd

Are there currently some powerful 2 base all-ins vs. Terran fitting into the current meta? I used some colossus all-ins in HotS back in the day with great success, but with the changed siege tanks it's not really strong anymore.
Not that I hate playing macro against Terran, but I'd like to change things sometimes.

A good terran will making thors with high impact load to counter tempest. Then it all get alot more complicated. Usually terran has a mix of the 2 and tanks, and other things. I dont know how to deal with mech and especially this type.
