There are no plans for a guide to other match-ups at this time. This guide was an entirely organic effort from TL community members of similar interests. |

Sorry if you mentioned this in the article and I haven't read it, but, is this the first in a series where matchuups are broken down or just a one off? Considering it took 9 months of work, we can't start anything on the other matchups at least until HotS is stabilized, and even then doing something like this is so much work, it's unlikely we'll do anything else at this point for a while.
9 months of work, for how many people? I understand there's the option to PM if interested in future like projects - I imagine with more workers, 9 months could be shortened considerably
HotS was my first thought when I saw the sheer magnitude of this show up on the front page, kind of like a "was this really the best time?", but the amount of support you've shown for this is enough to easily dispel such worries. It'll just be more work, I imagine.
How many people would you need to expand this for all races and MU's, at least for preliminary planning?

Not a Protoss here, but goddamn this is some incredibly impressive work. Cannot begin to imagine the amount of work that has gone into this.

The problem is always worker count
jk jk
You have a point. This is indeed a masterpiece, worthy of all 9 months. I'm tempted to make reference to a child, but that'd be weird, so I won't.
Oops.
Oh well, don't let all the wishful Terran and Zergs diminish the value of this - I'm not Protoss and I'm still in awe. Well done!

Well I just started playing again after a 2 month gaming hiatus, and this is fucking beautiful, thank you guys so much for all the work that has gone into this.

*March 23, 2011: Patch 1.3.0 Infestor Fungal Growth Stun duration decreased from 8 to 4 seconds and Damage increased by +30% vs. armored units.
The dreaded Infestor patch was one of darkest days for Protoss. The Infestor suddenly went from being a rarely used unit into an omnipresent one, seeing as Infestors were now able to effectively counter any Protoss unit with a combination of its three deadly spells. Two base Infestor builds became popular for a time period as a direct result of this build. New timings with Infested Terrans were also commonly used and experimented with, most notably by Monster and DRG.
"The dreaded infestor patch"... And yet there's no mention of the void ray/colossus phase that prompted it?

Well, that was about fifty million times more awesome than I was expecting it to be.

As usual, Team Liquid gets an articulate, well-written article with an incredible amount of content for free; how much are those strategy guides by BradyGames or whatever?

The detail and depth required to remain competitive (playing anything other than bots) just makes this a total turn off for the casual player. And with school, alas, I am a casual player. Well while it's good to focus on school, I see no collision there (between SC2 and school). I know many people that don't play a whole lot but just understand the important things of how to do their builds and decision making, mechanics etc and they get up to high diamond/low masters - besides having a job AND university AND Family (or "just" GF). I don't know on which level you want to compete, but I am pretty sure if you aim for, lets say diamond (macro game, not 1/2 base allins), it is honestly easy to pull off if you focus on the right things until you finally learned them and can move on to your next deficite. I never played RTS games in MP before SC2 (didn't have internet and time to learn it from scratch, also I am a pretty slow learner in these things) and managed to get From Bronze to "high" Plat (would have been higher if I didn't cancel every mirror matchup) in about 3-4 Months by playing 1-2 hours a day those times. So I guess it is possible. But I was lucky, I had someone who watched some of the games and told me the things, I thought I already do right but didn't. That was the whole trick I must say (and decision making).

So who was the guy that telled me you can´t study starcraft

Team Liquid continuing to show why it's the premiere site for all things StarCraft. O_O It's a damn shame I play Terran, because I'd be making heavy, heavy use of this otherwise. As it stands, I'll use this as reference material for watching PvZ so I can better understand what's going on at a glance -- or if I ever decide to off-race as Protoss, which I tend to do once in a blue moon.
