Cough infestors, cough?
If anything, infestor owns deathballs.

yet collosi, voidrays and to a lesser extent stalkers take several fungals to kill. The main problem i have is that u usually damage them all into the yellow by the time you lose your infestors or they run out of manna, and then, if you still have any army left (the army must get into the fight, else the stalkers will blink and kill all the infestors), it just melts anyway. If there are any collosus left, then no number of idra will live more than a couple seconds. and if you don't have idras, 2 or 3 remaining voids will be killing for free forever. And from that point on, the protoss produces just blinkstalkers. yeah, yeah, let me qq ![]()

( I assume that you wanted to write "hydras" and not "idra" here right? :-) But back to the topic, I agree here, if you have enough infestors with energy and good control (not just running them in, only go there to cast and keep them in the back) there is no way the protoss can just snipe them and until protoss gets such a ball up you are able to have tons of infestors, which can crush the whole ball, then reinforce and kill it. However, some protoss like to commit heavily on voids first to force hydras, because infestors are not out yet. If you switch right into infestors once the immediate danger is over without losing any bases you should be fine though.

Try to engage on creep as infestors are slow offcreep. You can also use neural parasite on the colossi and overwhelm the rest of the army with ling-corruptor/roach-hydra, just make sure to keep his units fungal growthed as much as possible so he can't target down the infestors that are casting neural parasite. Another thing you can do is abuse zerg mobility and send in a zergling counterattack whenever he pushes out. a Colossi and VR are the 2 highest DPS dealers for protoss and you basically NEED good infestor usage to play vs this strat. Corruptors are not a bad choice but void rays are pretty good against them so you really need to overwhelm him in numbers if you want to make this work, and follow up with some ground army to kill him after you've dealt with his vr and colossi. Skip to 13:46 and you'll see how a GM league zerg player deals with colossi-voidray. (the video contains some BM flaming but you can turn it on mute if you're worried about that) Do note that the zerg still ends up losing but that was because he was very far behind from early game harassment and was even unable to get up his 3rd base, but the initial engagement and army composition is still something exactly that you can learn a LOT from. Also, voidray harassment can be hard to deal with, but they're also expensive units and if just using infestors isn't enough to deal with it, then you probably will have to get at least some corruptors (not hydras), killing off even just a few void rays will definitely make up for what you lost. Beyond NP on the collosus, if you are going mass infestor, you can NP the voids too. Imo (only diamond), the death ball doesn't work because of mass fungal/mass neural, and bling drops. Use those three things in conjunction and remax.

-Attack at 200/200, when you're maxed, they won't be. It's okay to trade at this point, even if it's a shitty trade. -You don't want to remax with ANY corruptors. It's okay to have a few too many and lose them, but kill off all the collosi/voids. You want to be able to use roaches/hydras/lings to remax, which will do a lot better vs Gateyway units when the power units are not around (there are some really good videos with players giving high level analysis to unit comp and remaxing, look in some of the older threads). -When you're powering on a ton of bases, 2K/2K in the bank etc, toss down a lot of spores + spines, these slow the push down a lot, if he is 1a'ing his way in, he can lose voids + collosi for nothing to spores etc. Also free up supply because you're going to have a lot of bases with a low drone count per base (the deathball is slow, with spreadout bases you're going to be sacrificing less per base loss. You will be losing some bases, so why not make more to mitigate some losses?). High Masters Zerg S2, Mid Masters Toss S3.

Just be careful with your infestor control. Cast a few fungals, and then run your infestors back to safety. Don't just a-move them with the rest of your army.

In the mid/late game it is better to make a few Hydralisks, to out DPS the death ball, the Colossus part will need either heavy Roach with Burrow or Infestor with Neural Parasite. Mutalisk are a bad idea as they are hard countered by Phoenix that are faster and have more DPS. Void Rays on their own are that big of a deal.

Fungal growth the voids and np the collosus. This will rid of the stalker count and the voids die to some chain fungals.

Here's what you want for your end game combo. 3/3 cracklings, banelings+drop, a few ultralisks, and only enough hydras to kill off the voids. The idea is he has no real tanking units its all ranged. So just clobber him with a super mobile melee army that can't be kited or caught in forcefields. Make sure your hydras are bringing up the rear so they don't get hit and manually target the voidrays. If all goes well he starts blinking backwards to avoid baneling drop the sentries and colossus of course are left naked and the voids are sitting over everything shooting at your ultras and lings. The hydras come up behind and start killing voidrays that are left unguarded. Even if he somehow breaks even all he has left is blinkstalkers and you're remaxing with 3/3 cracklings in about 24 seconds GG! Getting to this end game combo is a topic for a much longer post but I can give you some tips. Don't over commit to anti air defense verse 1 stargate. Research drop as soon as your lair finishes it takes forever and you will often need it sooner then you think. Contain the protoss to 2 bases with speedlings for as long as you can. Voidrays don't handle lings well there's just to many of them. When he has enough ground army to actually take his third start counter attacking/dropping everywhere that his army is not. Don't let your minerals build up. You should be putting down spines and hatcheries with extra minerals. Zerglings cost a lot of larva and you need a home base advantage because when you play like this most protoss will try to base trade with you. If his army is getting scary and you're not ready morph more banelings. More banelings is usually better then unsupported zerglings. Get your hive upgrading asap. You want adrenal glands fast. Make sure the overlords that are carrying your banelings around have creep turned on. Once they drop their cargo keep them over your army to get a speed boost.
