In a game thats lasted 20 min or more, I don't understand why terrans dont drop and suicide a few hellions for 15+ drone kills. same thing here. they are the most cost effective unit in game, except for maybe lucky burrowed banelings or lucky infestors.

Normal hellion builds usually get a banshee to try be safe vs a roach counter but this build seems to be designed where no roach counter is in mind. I wonder how Puma would have reacted to a roach counter. I assume just bunkering up his main and waiting for enough forces to clear his natural but that seems a bit iffy. The midgame plan aswell seemed a bit odd. He was relying on keeping July pinned thus not allowing a tech switch to say muta which would have drastically effected his ability to actually push July. All round it seemed like a style that worked within that game because of factors but I want to see how Puma plays it out when the reaction is different from the zerg. banshees are not a viable counter to roaches, especially on xelnaga. They do too little damage against roaches and you don't play more than 2-3 banshees. pumas playstyle is very reactionary, right after seeing roaches he built tanks and researched siege. the reaper and hellions denied proper scouting for july and caused the late roaches. in case of mutas he would've switched to thors/rines/tanks (thats why he played the early armory and added 2-3 rax later on for marine production) and simply crushed july, because mutas are without a huge ground army not viable in fights. This strategy is especially on xelnaga pretty awesome. Drop play with hellions is not necessary, because hellions are faster than medivacs and the close distance between als bases supports easy drop defense for zerg. same goes for the terran, who doesn't need to rely on fast rines and turrets to defend his bases properly.

I use similar variations and found it very flexible for a number of openings. The coolest thing though, is even if you go reactored hellinons and are denied by very good non roach defense (one of the worst scenarios) y ou still have the option of flipping your reactor onto your rax for a fast switch to marines (especially useful because zerg will now have gas for significant mutas). in general, i find I don't really need a starport on two base vs. zerg on most maps. exceptions might be those with chokes at their natural that make hellion harass difficult ( tal, shattered, shakuras).
