like 1 rax expand. I don't think punishing it is the correct response. Instead, look at it as your opponent delaying his/her tech choice in favor of having more of whatever that tech choice is later down the road. For example: An opponent may try to do a 1 factory blue hellion pressure into expand, which comes rather quickly but with only 3-4 hellions. If your opponent goes one rax FE however, they can can now safely support a 2 factory blue hellion play, which comes much, much later than the one basing alternative, but with significantly more hellions. What I'm trying to say is: If you see your opponent go for a quick expansion, then that gives you more time to prepare for whatever he/she is throwing at you even though it will be more stuff in that pressure/push. This should allow you to scout whatever is going on before the pressure comes to fruition, so it shouldn't do as much damage as a one basing pressure, even though it is more stuff. This sets you up for a much more solid, long game, so you should prepare for the same, such as using this extra time to get a fast third on tier one, or cut corners in safety to get faster mutalisks, or drone earlier than normal and use the extra resources you wouldn't normally have on a fast +1 melee attack, or a macro hatch to prepare for the 4hatch mass upgraded ling style that MrBitter has become a fan of.
My rule of thumb is: In TvZ, no matter how ahead I may feel, I cannot directly attack the terran without hive tech. Setting yourself up for aggression as a response to a 1rax FE can cause either an easy win or a dumb loss, it's kind of a coin-flip.
I guess a more direct answer to your question is yes, there are ways to punish a 1rax FE as zerg as the other person who answered this said. However, there are no safe ways to punish one.

I am a platinum protoss player. What are three solid builds (one per matchup) that I can use to play "standard"?

PvP 3 gate Blink PvT 2 gate fast collosi PvZ 2 gate stargate I reaaaaly don't like 2 gate stargate, and I could be wrong but 2 gate strait to colossus doesn't sound that solid either. But, as a zerg, I literally think "free win" when I see a one base stargate build, it sacrafices a late expand in favor of trying to catch your opponent off gaurd. 2 base stargate builds are much more solid because they easily set you up for a late game, so I would suggest forge expanding if at all possible, and stick with a 3 gate FE or 1 gate FE if you are in a position where you can't forge first.

2 gate straight to collosi works out well when you spot mass rines when you scout around 6 mins. just keeping the first collosi alive is all you need for a easy win.

Umm... I don't mean to rude or douchy or anything but what level are you playing at? And at what experiance are you suggesting these builds? I'm not protoss or terran but with the marauder exising couldn't you just die to early pressure if you're only on 2 gates? That and in addition, you expand super late, putting you behind, and you don't have many gateway units to support your little colossus numbers, meaning a standard marine marauder army could decimate you in a strait up battle.

oh right, i'm top silver right now (which really means little to nothing and not proud of that) and 2 gate robo actually worked a couple times. i guess i forgot about the league differences.
honestly right now my only working build is 4 gate pressure expo.
not sure how that works out in higher leagues.
my pvz is completely in the toilet.thinking of going for a fe +2/2 6gate attack timing. which i havn't done in ages.
pvt, 3 gate chargelots if i spot heavy marauder, which works out so well for me (How does that work out in higher leagues?)

I have a simple question more about TL than starcraft, but this was the largest active simple question thread that I saw, so i'll shoot:
How many active users / readers does TL have? How many people frequent the site?

TL has around 7700 active users. You can see this feature in the upper left corner of the UI, to the left of the horse logo.

I think that means how many people are viewing the site, logged in or not, as it changes substantially every time you refresh. 7700 seems wwwwaaaaayyy too small anyways.

What is the build order for the 4-gate post 1.3.3, now that WG is 40 seconds slower? I've heard it can still hit at 5:45, and incorporates a 10 gate? I've searched everywhere and my internet sucks too bad to watch VODs and copy the build atm.

My understanding and my logic when taking the build off of MC (generally speaking) is that it's a very safe build. It severely dampens the effectiveness of any Roach/ling all in. It also allows you to put a little pressure on the zerg while you grab your expo. Another nice feature is that the pheonixes should make adequate scouting possible.
The downsides I have experienced with it so far is that zerg builds seem very well adapted to deal with any stargate pressure and you most likely won't be getting the eco advantage ( the forge first gives a hatch first zerg the risk of a cannon/ you can cut the gateway and cannon to throw down a nex before additional buildings if you notice few lings.)

Each base can support roughly 3 buildings as long as 2 of them are Warpgates, so 3 Warpgates, 2 Gate/1 Robo, or 2 Gate/1 Stargate. Alternatively, each base can support roughly 1.5 Robos or 1.5 Stargates if not including Warpgates, and if those buildings are Chronoboosted.
My own question: Say I defend an offensive 4 Warpgate with a defensive 4 Warpgate (as in I have 2 more Probes than the other guy). In most professional game I see, the opponent tends to simply GG and leave the game; what can I do to definitely end the game with my advantage?

someone on NA asked me today;
If i neural parasite an enemy drone and build a building then cancel that building do i get that guys drone permanently?
i didnt know lol so asking u guys =]
|
No. If you try to build a hatchery it cancels the minute you start to build it AND you lose control of the drone.
(According to unit test map.)
Sorry Animostas I don't play Protoss and I can only give you a vague ass answer like build an immo and 4 gate yourself or flip the table and 4 gate him.
