So if you can recommend me to a general super newbie zerg guide or just type in some helpful hints, that'll be awesome.
Oh, and I'm really having trouble with the inject larvae thing. I keep missing it. Any hotkeys/tips for that?
Thanks

Water, when you exert force against it, does not fight back. Water yields around you, yet with time it can burrow canyons and crack mountains. Understanding this philosophy is, in my opinion, a key point to understanding Zerg. When an opponent pushes on you, you do not just run right at him. You let him get to your territory and then you let him drown. You come from every imaginable direction and flood into every crack in his defenses. Whatever little space he managed to secure can be retaken when he's gone. Drowned to the ocean of zerg. Zergs are not like the other two races in this matter. Both Protoss and Terran are rocks, trying to gather enough momentum on top of a large enough mountain to roll down on the opponent. When playing against together, they throw pebbles at each other to wear the other's mountain down. As Zerg, expect pebbles to be thrown at you, too. What you do is not throwing pebbles back. You accept the shower and let those pebbles sink to the bottom of the ocean where they will slowly erode. You do not fight fire with fire, you let fire rage for its' time and burn out. Whatever damage it will do you will repair. Whatever water it vaporized will rain back down and flow back to the sea in a river. As Zerg, you are in constant motion, flowing back and forth, yielding where the opposing force is strongest and flooding in where there is a crack in defense. You will rain down and take all the space the map has to offer, and whatever bastions of stone, hills mountains or cliffs there might be will be worn out in time, and only sea will remain. Now for more practical stuff: For general 'counters' you can check the help in-game. Better is to check liquipedia, it has so much information. But actually, seeing as you are still a beginner, I'd try to avoid thinking about counters too much. Don't think too much, just build a lot. As Day9 says: just have more stuff! That is very very true for zerg. There is a newbie guide on the blizzard forums I think, you might wanna check that out. And about the larva inject/hotkey problem What I generally have is all my hatcheries on 4 then each queen on the hotkeys after that. So my first queen on 5 and the one at the natural on 6 etc. Then during the match, I just cycle through them and do the injects: 5-5-v-click-6-6-v-click-7-7-v-click etc.. Don't try to do too complex stuff, like overlord dropping yet, just try to get comfortable with the basics. Try to get into the habit of spreading your creep, but I know that can be difficult while doing all the other macro stuff. Just make sure that you at least connect your bases with creep.

Anywho, 1200 Diamond here... For very basic zerg tips, youtube some zerg tutorial videos. You should stumble upon some zerg basics just so you get your way around the zerg. Then for medium to high level play, youtube HDstarcraft's zerg tutorial commentaries. He gives a great baneling bust build and a muta into baneling build. Also, this forum post helped me a TON when i started. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=133023 My most used builds are 14Hatch13Pool in 4 spawn maps against T/P, 14Pool13Hatch in medium to small maps against T/P, and I almost always use a 14Pool13gas vs zerg and avoid FE since it's much harder to defend. These imo are the staple builds which are in that link above. Apart from learning macro control, I think the hardest thing to overcome was defending a 14 or 13 hatch. What helped for me was starting out with a 14H or 13H from the above builds at the top of my ramp + a spine crawler. This is not a wall sadly but if it'll teach you the timings for defending an extra hatch with fewer units. From there, I got gutsy and am pretty good at defending my 14H now : ). Another stepping stone is that you could use a 14pool,13gas build with an FE at 21. This is considered a much safer build to early harassment/rushes, but with proper scouting, I still prefer the 14H or 14P13H over that though with good 9 scouting. As far as your queen problem...I hotkey all queens to 2 and move my camera around and spam directly. Some people do the whole thing and spawn larvae via the mini map *which i think is harder.* Anyways, just watch replays/commentaries via Crota, HDstarcraft, psystarcraft, Husky all from youtube. Gl to you man!

learn how to dictate where the fight takes place and make sure its an area that gives you the advantage, usually an open space with multiple angles of attack. use the swarms many scouting options (creep, overlords, overseer/changeling, burrowed units, speedlings, mutas) to control the map, this is key for zerg. you should be able to know exactly when ur opponent is pushing out, especially this is critical against terran when they have tanks and you can catch them unseiged and out of position. press your speed advantage as much as u can. another important concept is to know when its ok to pump drones and that ties into scouting. for instance if you see ur opponent getting a fast expand u know he will not be going for any early timing push so throw down an expo asap get a couple spine crawlers for any kind of annoying harass and pump drones for a larvae round or 2, and get to lair tech which opens the game up completely for zerg as we get all game changing tech (burrow, ov speed, ov drop, nydus, roach speed & burrow move) 1100 diamond
