I am quite frustrated with the corruptor's ability to kill colossus. They are so very expensive and slow to make and they can only counter one unit, the colossus, in a standard ground army battle. They have high damage against colossus 16+4, but the cooldown of the attack feels like such a long time. Another thing that bothers me is the Protoss ability to forcefield the Zerg ground army and run away with the colossus so that the corruptors have to chase the colossus making them die to stalker fire.
So I thought that since the corruptor is such a slow poison to use why not use mutalisks instead?
I did some calculations
Corruptor DPS against Colossus (without shield)
(14 + 6) / 1,9 = 10 (corruption 12)
Muta DPS against Colossus
8 / 1,5246 = 5,25 (corruption 6,30)
To Kill Colossus
Stalker shots to kill Corruptor
200 / (10 + 4 - 2) = 16,67
Stalker shots to kill Muta
120 / 10 = 12
Movement speed comparison
Corruptor: 2,95 Muta: 3,75 Colossus: 2,25
So it would seem that Corruptor is strong against Colossus, but can't do anything else the Muta can do: kill High Templar, kill Stalker, kill Probes. But on the other hand the muta has half the DPS against Colossus.

Corruptors aren't ideal against colossi but just neccesary. The trick is to carefully balance the amount of corruptors compared to his colossi. Make too many and he just ignores them and P wins the ground battle, make too few and he focusses them and the colossi get to live. About 2.5 corruptors per colossus seems a good number. If you do end up on the high side, ie having too many corruptors, it's important to send them in way before the battle starts. This way you can trade colossi vs corruptors and your ground army should have a way easier time killing his stalkers. I also find that corruption is seriously underused, rarely do I see a zerg actually corrupting my stalkers though that is quite efficient.
As far as mutalisks go, they can't be compared to corruptors as far as countering colossi goes. Mutalisks are a harassment/containment unit whereas corruptors are a responsive counter unit. Starting off with mutalisks is a good plan.. you only make corruptors to counter phoenix, carriers or colossi.

if you're countering colossus, you want corruptors for sure. They have more hp and better DPS against colossus. Muta aren't effective against colossus unless you have large numbers.
5 muta won't do jack shit against 2 colossus. But 5 corruptors will probably kill the colossus. Which would you rather spend your 500 gas on?
Note this is assuming that you wouldn't build corruptors unless toss has colossus...which probably means you have hydras. If you go hydras, you won't have enough gas to produced a large # of mutas, therefore you want corruptors. Now if you went 2base mutas, you would probably be in good shape if toss made colossus...but most toss won't make colossus if they see you massing muta, they'll either get phoenix, or keep pumping stalkers.
