I'm currently struggling in PvP. Just for background I'm 500 pt DIamond (one of the new divisions so I'm rank 5), and I can't seem to beat the higher diamond Protoss players. Whether its zealot rush cheese or 2 Gateway Robo, it seems like I'm always playing from behind. Usually I try to build up for a delayed four gate rush, using a sentry to wall off from early Zealot pushes, but I always get caught off guard and fail to get a good forcefield down.
So what are you guys doing? Should I wall off with a choke like against Zerg and run the risk of heavy stalker harass? Should I switch to 2-gate robo over 4 gate? Should I proxy a Stargate?
If you're diamond level Protoss, tell me your strategy. I know I can out-macro my opponents, it's making it to the middle game without being significantly behind that I can't do.

I think 1 or 2 stalkers should fend of 2 gate especially with wall off, and 4 gate can kill 2 gate robo pretty well too. I'm not sure though I guess 2 gate robo is a lot more standard.

PvP i have found to be an interesting MU in the fact that once you get past the 2gate section (...atm it seems to be 2gate or die t.t) the whole thing turns into a macro war almost instantly ^^ giving whoever got their core up first a HUGE advantage and whoever can expand safely (its possible but hard) a even larger one ^^ but the fun part is finding ways to get the core up faster and still live as well as getting the expansions...that i leave for you to figure out
a good way to survive 2gate though is to wall off your ramp w/a gate and a forge and get a cannon up (2 if he has a LOT of zealots) then tech hard to your choice of Blink Stalkers, DT/HT, Robo, or VR/Phoenix ^^ personally i like fast robo for a fast warp prism w/fast DT w/the extra gas left over...they almost never see it coming bc they expect VR for some reason OR for you to just straight up attack him like an idiot ^^

I like to scout after my first pylon just in case they go for a proxy 2-gate or some such thing. If I see some shinanigans coming, I think you have to wall off if you are going for a core, or they can just send a zealot or 2 to your probes.
If your opponent is going for the korean 4-gate, I've experimented with going for a 2-gate stalker probe all-in rush to snipe the pylons powering his gateways, but it pertty much always fails, so the wall-in is probably preferable there too to keep the probe from making those pylons in your base.
So...wall off after scouting if you scout some sketchiness. And if you are playing for the mid-late game get that core and some higher tech as fast as you can. You really don't have to worry about delayed 4-gate pushes since you can just forcefield your ramp and happily tech away on most maps.

You need to pylon scout for 2-gate. If you see him 2-gating, you'll need a second gate as well, but you gain a econ advantage since you can build your gateways later and still hold due to the rush distance. I love when my opponents go Korean 4-gate. Just constantly produce units from 3 gateways and spend chrono on gateways instead of warpgate research. He'll be trying to warp in 4 zealots while you have 4 zealots and a stalker pounding on as they warp in and take double damage.
I do HATE PvP tho. I find the robo units incredibly boring, and it seems they're the only good mid-to-late game option.

I actually tried a new strategy of using phoenixes early for harass, then going almost pure chargelots and blink stalkers. The blink+phoenixes can smash down collossi quickly and you gain usually gain a pretty good economic advantage with phoenix harass.
I've only done this twice, both times using a wall off+ forge to get one or two cannons down. Note this also prevents DT from coming in through the main entrance, and you should place pylons around the base and patrol with phoenixes when you aren't harassing to prevent drops.
I think that quick blink stalkers could counter this, but if they get robo and start pumping out immortals or beeline for collossi they're basically screwed. Plus with phoenixes you have way more scouting and map control.
