So I've been going quick Starports in TvT and grabbing Shees until I see my opponent get a starport, then just enough vikings to fight off their vikings. I haven't really met much resistance and watched my opponent try everything to stop me to no avail.
Options I've seen: Marines: too weak against the shees which with micro can take them out from range like Mutas in SC1. Vikings/Ravens(D-Drone) vs Air: all comes down to who started their tech first (me in all my games so far). Turrets: cost so much that if I see them going up in the main, I just expo giving me a huge econ lead and map control. Thors: Cost-Benefit not as good as the Shees even by math, and then the shees can just avoid the thor until they outnumber it. Timing Push: (haven't seen too much of this, but banshees own any bio push and do significant damage versus mech as well)
So my question: Has anyone played against a fast air TvT, and beaten them? What did you use?

Marines with upgrades melt all air except the battle cruiser.

What kiykiy says is true, in small groups marines will lose, but with some medivacs a large group will win. Plus you can lift the marines into the drop ships if you are constantly getting out ranged by the banshees.
Depending on my tech I'll try to just out viking them, or go the marine route.

The problem with strictly Marines is - if there is any sort of Viking support with the Banshees, they can quickly switch to ground mode and tear through Marines very quickly.

I noticed that just throwing up a bunker seems to stop banshee harass.
So I think something like 2 banshees really quickly to test the water, and then switch one starport over to reactor for vikings is a reasonable opening. Banshees nullify any ground opening.
So after the opening/defense, you can expand. The question then is what do you get? Tanks are ok, but I assume vikings own them. Vikings seem reasonable, but do maurauders beat them? Or maybe you should just mass air the whole way (or do Thors beat them?).

just to note, ravens point defense drone works vs. vikings, so in viking vs. viking if you throw down a drone you can win the air fight easily. it also works vs. battlecruisers, thors and marauders.

I've beaten it with a push on some maps and just marines+turrets on others... they're like mutas but with half the economy and the inability to show up with a mass amount of lings+bane out of nowhere

That's a good question, TorcH. I have been going Fast Air TvT in all my games, since Vikings/Banshees rape. Occasionally, I see Terrans try to counter with mass Marines before my Starport tech is done, but 1-2 Siege Tanks with Siege Mode should be able to hold off any sort of mass Marine push, as well as asserting air control with Banshees and their micro.

Can bunker hold off any marine attacks? The one thing I've noticed in this matchup is that I have nowhere to spend my excess minerals.
I was thinking either massing hellions or marines - hellions could be ok for whoring expansions and map control. Marines might be ok to actually supplement your army.

Marines arre weak in small # against banshees. But in large #s they just rape banshees with stim and the medivac.

Terrans need better anti air...marines just don't cut it anymore

I just got trashed by this. I completely flattened his front door with 4-5 Siege tanks and killed off his entire Marine/marauder army. Unfortunately my marines being the brave meatshields they were all died. 1 banshee forced me away and killed my tanks. A quick jump over to thors proved futile(I had 3 tech lab factories so it seemed reasonable) Do not build Thors against banshees. I should have gone right into a Starport reactor for Vikings but live and learn.

Point Defense and their missile combined with a M&M ball will destroy pretty much any air unit.
