I'd like to present to you my newest project, Aradia.

It's an Action-Puzzle featuring a fullsize 30 level campaign, as well as a Level Editor. Complete levels to advance further, and complete with the least possible Charges to earn Medals.

FEATURES
  • Campaign featuring 30 levels
  • Medals achievable in each level
  • 9 Characters to choose from
  • Full-featured Level Editor
  • Create and share levels with the world

In each level, everything can be controlled by spending Charges - but the more Charges you spend, the less likely you are to complete the level flawlessly.

Here's some screenshots for you to enjoy:

I saw this in the Arcade the other day and gave it a shot. Didn't notice until after the author was "Scorp". I immediately wondered if it was you, turns out it is. :D Good fun, got gold in all 14 levels.

Very impressive. The first few levels were way to easy. Maybe make seperate them into tutorial levels instead?

Implementing a Level Editor for this kind of map greatly increases replayability, and also makes life easier when developing new content

It indeed is me. I am working on the release version including loads of new content - it will hopefully go public within a week!

Thanks, nice to hear that. I am glad the countless hours spent in the editor finally start to pay off

I have thought a lot about how the difficulty scales. As much as I would like to immediately challenge the player base already familiar with this kind of gameplay, I have to take the other half into account as well. To be honest, I have seen players struggling with level 1 and 2 for a while - denying them the opportunity to have a fun learning experience simply isn't an option, as much as I would like to. And tutorials - forced or not - are highly uninteresting.
Thanks for the kind words though - I hope you will enjoy some of the more challenging levels that I am currently working on.

On a different note, here's a small demonstration of some of the things to come in the next version of Aradia:

I think it's rather natural to expect the first few levels to be easy, with difficulty ramping up over time. I personally find it a superior game play experience over dedicated tutorials; the design does an excellent job of providing contextual tutorial popups when you encounter a new obstacle to give you all the information you need.

EDIT: Perhaps one consideration, Scorp, would be to provide a settings option to prevent those tutorial popups from appearing when replaying levels. You know, for the more savvy users and/or those who end up playing on a different bank file after already knowing how to play.

I thank you for your interest. An Options tab is something I've already been working on. Since tips may become irritating once you're done with your first playthrough, I've decided to make it public across NA/EU now. You'll also find some other additions that are to become available as soon as Aradia 1.0 goes live.

It's been a long time since the public release of Aradia, and I am finally happy to announce the next big update: featuring all-new blocks and levels, the long-awaited Community Hub, as well as a complete aesthetic overhaul. If you want to get a head-start and get your self-made levels submitted to the Community Hub at release day, simply post a comment in this thread including level title, key and author.

See you soon!
