Unfortunately not all of us have the opportunity to have others help test our maps in a timely fashion, if at all. I commonly upload two copies of my maps, one normal map, and another preloaded with Green Tea AI to help with the problem above. GTAI is a bit better and a bit tougher than the standard blizzard one, and of note, with a couple different builds in it. It is not a replacement for human testing; it is not that intelligent. It is at best around high gold - low platinum worth of difficulty, based on resource usage and ability to build counters.
I am recommending and writing this guide because I primarily use GTAI myself to gain a better understand of army movement and engagement areas around the map.
WHAT YOU NEED
GT AI:

MPQ Editor:

STEPS
1) Unzip GTAI to its own folder, MPQ editor can be unzipped anywhere.
2) In the GTAI folder, rename BankList.xml to BankList2.xml. Rename \Gamedata\UnitData.xml to UnitData2.xml
3) Create a copy of your map. You can just copy and paste in windows. Open the map, and change its name (Map -> Map Info) to something else like [map] AI, so it doesn't overwrite the copy on bnet. This will take up a map slot, of course!
3) Open Import Window
- Right click in left pane, import files
- Select the GT AI directory, and OK
The files should now be loaded. Save the map and close it.
4) Open MPQ editor. Open your map file through the MPQ editor. Rename banklist and unitdata back to the original filenames right through the MPQ editor (all changes are automatically saved). Just close MPQ editor when complete.
5) Reopen map file in galaxy, and upload. That's it!
