Two different tilesets makes me think of testbug in a way.

As for the map, only 8 bases total? I suppose its just a different type of map but that seems like a few too few expos, imo.
also i think you should be able to combine like 5 archons to make a really really shitty oliver stone film - Keanu_Reaver, bw balance genius

It looks really nice. I like the different attacks routes and spread of the expos, but 8 bases is too small especially once you to the middle i think it would be really hard for a zerg to take a 4th which would make it extremely hard for them -_-

What's this map for? Like GSL or what?

Anyways, it looks good. Very vaguely reminds me of Heartbreak ridge but tilted and with no min-onlies. The one thing I hate though is the use of two different tilesets. I had the same problem with ICCUP Testbug. I mean, what's the point of having different tilesets? Why not just make it the same? I think it's easier to spot stuff on a certain tileset, and just isn't as aesthetically pleasing when I scan the minimap.

Looks like he took a cue from Testbug on the mixing of 2 different tilesets haha
LSPrime is the one who made Tal'darim right? I remember the creator of that map saying they thought Tal'darim was too big, and this is definitely the opposite direction. The middle looks like it'll make for good battles, but it does look quite tough to take a 4th.

I like this map, but if the match goes long, it's going to be so hard to get minerals.

Looks good, keeping the idea of some big maps and some more aggressive maps this looks like it would be a good game.

seems kinda small

and even worse with a hard to take 4th (even though it's supposed to be) since your options are away from everything or near your opponent

Love the immediate split in terrain types like in testbug. First two expos have a fairly straight forward path but the 4th looks like it's gonna be rough to take/defend. I definitely like how open the middle is. All in all, looks pretty good on first glance.

I dont mind the lack of expansions for a 1v1 map like this. There appear to be a set of destructible rocks at the natural to create a second entrance, and a shorter distance to the base. The third bases look a little bit safe, but not for free by any means. This appears to be a nicely designed 1v1 map, which there seem to be so few of outside of xel'naga. Multiple ramps and lanes, along with various high grounds that create a valley in the middle is pretty cool. The more you expand, the more fast pace and open the map gets. I think that this would produce quite a few fun games and cool strategies. I like the idea of the map opening up as you expand, rather than some maps that make it feel like the map gets more confined (jungle basin 3rd base PF, xel naga gold base PF, along those lines). It feels like you expand towards your opponent, but you really aren't on this map from what it looks like. Can't wait to see some games on it!

*also forgot to add my favorite feature, or non-feature, of xel'naga towers. This will affect gameplay quite a bit. Xel'naga towers are normally forced points of contention on this map, but the way the expansions are layed out, and the lack of vision, will ultimately provide a major variety of how the games play out.

This map really looks beautiful. I like the two tilesets as well. It may not have a lot of bases, but I would compare it to Blizzard's Xel'Naga Caverns, which is the best map in the pool. I definitely am looking forward to trying this out with some friends absolutely beautiful.

Looks pretty hard to defend a 3rd base, nevermind a 4th . There are so many attack routes and no good areas to control space. This isn't necessarily bad but it definitely leads to a more aggressive and mobile game.

I can't help but think of testbug, it looks so similar just no 3rd starting position, it's like he took test bug, and altered it like he did with terminus.

Seems like too small of a map. Limiting players to 4 bases each, with a seemingly difficult 4th to take and hold. From what I can see it looks as though the map is quite tight as well. I could see a lot of Zerg players potentially having trouble with the lack of openness, taking into account what we have seen from Protoss forcefield play and Terran siege tank pushes.

This is, of course, just an interpretation from what I can see from the overview.

I don't think anyone is complaining about it but it seems like it was directly inspired by Testbug, an Iccup map.

I think meta has the perfect number of bases (12). I really think that's the magic number for a good, well-balanced 1v1 map. 8 is a little too small, 10 (like XC) is pretty decent, and 14-16 (Shak + 3/4 GSL maps) are a bit too large.

Being inspired by another map is a problem ? If only it was a direct copy I wouldn't mind a 3 player map in the map pool.

Don't find em that simular to be honest.

Why you guys hating on small map? Only few of you can macro, while even play on a decent level whatsoever. We don't have to have maps with >12 bases and just wait 40 minutes until they finish playing. Third base is fairly easy to defend, and natural is really easy to take. You gotta fight for 4th base which makes games more interesting.
We shouldn't exclusively play on macro maps, small maps have their own beauties as well

I just don't like this map. Maps this small just don't seem to have a proclivity to producing good games, and the bad games on them are never as good as the bad games on big maps. I kinda feel like anything less than 10 bases is just gonna feel silly, like Jungle Basin with the middle thirds moved toward your main or something.

I can't do anything but shake my head at this argument. This argument about small maps being really dynamic and aggressive and mobile and action packed and therefore fun to play on and fun to watch makes sense on paper but it just... isn't true. The games are crap. Maybe some feature of this map will fix it, I dunno, but it doesn't look like it.

I'm a big supporter of LARGE maps. I much, much prefer Terminus RE, Taldarim altar, and Crevasse to anything else out there right now. I don't care if I "can't macro" or whatever. It's just more fun to play on and about a million times more fun to watch.

OMG, the map looks beautiful with lava on one side and water on the other. I am a little worried though by the number of bases. We also have never played on a map like that, so I guess we can't judge too fast, but I don't see any macro game going far. It will either be a death battle for the 3/4th bases, or 2 bases all-ins like on the other maps.

On another note, I like that fact that you can't siege or storm the mineral lines easily and that they are far enough from the entrances so your economy isn't automatically over when you get contained.

I don't like this map. It's pretty pretty visually, but it doesn't look like it's going to encourage a lot of good games.

The expansions seem to be really far apart (even though I have a hard time right now judging how big the map is actually in total - it might turn out that these distances are more Steppes Of War-like) which combined with the fact that there are only 4 total bases per side makes for a lot of 2 base builds.

The new set of GSL maps have shown that the larger macro maps can lead to some really interesting games with high level play (GSTL), but may also cause stale macro fests where nothing happens except for one huge battle and a GG after 15 minutes (Code A). Smaller maps have their place, and with 8 bases you have about the amount that gets taken in longer games anyway. The number of games where a 5th or 6th is properly utilized is small anyway.

In addition, this map is gorgeous. And I see no reason why we couldn't have a map like this in the GSL.

You're right, we should wait for a couple of games on this map. I still doubt that it's going to turn out to be an awesome map though.

The map looks nice, but it looks quite odd; uncomfortable like when you see Crossfire SE. Although, I hope it's still fun of course

The mixing of two tile sets is sort of cool and adds more dynamic; you'll probably like one side more. But that also means there'll be one you like less xD

Just first impression it seems like it will be a 3 base turtle map leading into lategame fighting for a fourth while both players are very low on resources. Sounds epic

LSPrime is the one who made Tal'darim right? I remember the creator of that map saying they thought Tal'darim was too big, and this is definitely the opposite direction. The middle looks like it'll make for good battles, but it does look quite tough to take a 4th.

its not even hard to take your 4th, and even if it was... what would be wrong with that?

maps should not be made to give you inifinity free bases, and zerg players should quit pretending that would be good map design

I love the idea of the 2 tilesets. Unfortunately the map is about half the size of what it should be. We've made steps forward with macro maps, this is a step back.

Reminds me a lot of Steppes of War.

Beautiful visuals.

I think the landscape, and terrain is great. However, as a SC2 "map" It definitely should be larger, stretch it out, and add 2reg 1 gold or 2 golds or 4 more expos and I can see it being a great map.

Maps like this is what SC2 was made for. Looks like fun with the easy to take expos and not so HUGE size where maxed out armies look like tiny dots on the map.

Great map from an aesthetic point of view.

It's cool to see these good mapmakers make a complete map pool themselves, with both big macro maps and smaller rush maps.

No need to react to the existing ladder pool only, it's cool to make something for every situation yourself to add diversity.

I like this map for the ramps and line of sight blockers around the expos; looks like it'll make for some interesting battles up close and personal to the start positions. Also like that the middle ground / expos are all the same height with no obstructions; gonna be hell to pay if you even try to get down there...

Aesthetically the tilesets are awesome, but moreso the detail put into the backgrounds. My processor would die in a ball of fiery ARGHHHHH TOO MUCH!, but I can imagine that on a high-end PC looking wonderful.

That waterfall would look beautiful as your CC/Nexus/Hatch gets eating by 8 stimmed marauders. C:

Really cool

One of the reasons I didn't like GSL maps that much is that there were just all 4 spawn bigass macro maps (except for Crossfire, which is a Blizzard map and just sucks anyway).
I think small maps have their place in the map pool, and I would be really sad if there wasn't at least one small 1v1 map in tournament map pools. It's just that the small Blizzard maps are really bad, like Steppes with the easy to abuse natural and Jungle Basin which doesn't have a third for Zerg etc.

I like this attempt, looks like a solid map. Maybe it's a bit too choked for a small map like this, Zerg might have problems. The really small Steppes like maps so far (iCCup Pawn Re and iCCup Starlight Breaker) had the open middle of Steppes and I think I prefer that. Will have to look at the map ingame to judge properly tho.

hmm.. by the way can we stop naming threads things like "The new Korean Map!!!!", it makes it seem like theres only one, and is a bit disrespectful to the acutal map, which is called Dual Sight by LSPrime.

So like [M](2)Dual Sight by LSPrime instead?

I'm not a big fan of the rocks there, it makes tanking or walking up the main with colossi really easy and impossible to stop. Seems like they should be removed since it looks like you can wall from natural CC to ramp with only a couple (2-3) barracks anyway.

Taking a 3rd looks pretty hard for Zerg, because it leaves 6 (funneled into 3) attack paths in. It also expands towards the opponent, which will make it frustrating because the opponent can walk in and kill it, and you won't have time to rebuild an army.

A fourth base looks genuinely impossible to hold as Zerg, because its either a) right in your opponents natural, or b) right in your opponents 3rd. This will not work because you can't reinforce the base in time or take advantage of larvae stock. Also the opponent can easily tank that expansion from high ground.

These couple things make the map seem really T favored in TvZ, but better than most Blizzard maps... wonder if this will be in ladder?
