He's a lot better than many new faces you put here. He's still a regular and just because he doesn't do some 2 port fancy schmuck thing like Up doesn't mean he's worse.

I mean, that's all he did right? You have to look at the quality of opposition. Beating TT, JiHyun, Yellow[Arnc] (on Longinus 2!) and FireBatHero on an island map TvT. That does NOT deserve this kind of attention. Especially when done by a Terran. Come on Etter. He doesn't belong anywhere near that list. There's been an UpMagic in every OSL since they switched to 24-players. A guy goes 3-0 in their group against lower opponents, and he gets bumped in the elimination tourneys against quality opposition. Think of Bisu from last OSL. I do think UpMagic (and Bisu) will eventually be good enough to have deep runs, but for now, placing him 6th out of all the pros? Ninja Please. Jaedong, man. Jaedong. You looking for a reason to put him in? Jaedong vs Light in the Proleague semis. Do the right thing.

Up has done a little more than win his ODT group and go 2-0 in the OSL; he also cruised through his Survivor group was relative ease. He did drop a game to Shinwa on Blitz, but with all his wins as of late, I'm willing to overlook that on the grounds that Blitz is a pretty tough TvZ map and that Shinwa really isn't that bad ZvT. But if you look at Up's games lately, it's his sense that interests me, because as you point out, the quality of his opposition hasn't been that great. He's been playing really, really well, especially in TvT. That's going to be a big deal this OSL You should have access to more statistics than me, but you don't make an OSL and a Survivor League at the same time without winning a lot of games in a relatively short span of time. It's certainly not his fault that he hasn't played any really big names as of late, but beating Yellow[name]'s ZvT is a feat on any map, and Firebathero can be absolutely brilliant at times. Speaking of maps, I'm sick of all this crying about Longinus 2; it just isn't that bad for ZvT. HitchHiker and Arkanoid are both worse. I'm not saying there's not a Terran advantage on Longinus 2, but I'm looking at it like Arcadia II: in this instance, the statistics simply don't reflect the map's balance. How long did it take for Terran to win a TvZ on Arcadia II? But the statistics leveled out after a while. Any map where a Zerg can secure two geysers by holding a ramp just can't be considered that bad ZvT. The map isn't all that narrow, and there is room for counters and flanks and such. Zergs will figure it out. You might be right about Up losing in the RO16, but maybe not. Consider: it looks like he'll finish first in his group (or has he already clinched it?). That lets him, within reason, pick his opponent. And given the maps, I give him good odds against any Zerg but Savior, and he's capable of beating any Terran but Midas and Casy; they're probably too strong TvT. Then again, you just never know when Midas is going to break down, and Up has shown that TvT is definitely his ace matchup. Given his results, his actual play (which has been pretty impressive), and his potential for continued success, I don't think the #6 slot is unwarranted. But as with all my rankings, time will tell. ^^

DJEtter. You rock. This thing is really awesome. I waited anxiously for about a few weeks for the next Power Rankings to come out. The only bone I have to pick with you is your Descriptions for the top 10 are really brief. Instead of describing everything in the first post, why not put it in the actual description? You don't have to of course, just a suggestion. Otherwise, that was freaking sexy time.

His build order was uber sexy and perfectly executed. That game made me a bereever of Up. DJEtter. You rock. This thing is really awesome. they are a transitory thing, and only apply to the last month or couple of weeks. its not a long term assessment of a player's skill, just who is hot right now. to use your baseball at bats analogy, think of the power rankings as a highlights or "weekly mvp" for baseball or whatever, that CAN be decided by a few at bats. nothing wrong about that. thats why anytime and nada were so high and suddenly disappear, they were favorites heading into this OSL but sucked it up so bam off the list nothing wrong with upmagic being there, hes played amazing the last few weeks

His only weak point, it would appear, is his TvT, and even it really isn’t that bad. + Show Spoiler + Too bad this OSL that is chock-full of T's got him knocked out in the wildcard stage after a zillion TvT's
