I feel like the current glut of events trivializes certain achievements, and makes the idea of "best players" and such just a flavor of the month sort of deal. 3-4 MLG's and DH's a year is good, and team events should take precedence.

I don't know, maybe I'm just used to BW where getting Ro 16 was a pretty big deal in an OSL.

As long as there is one event that stands out in competition (like GSL now), I don't care really, the only situation where there could be too many events (from a spectator's point of view only) would be if the competition got watered down because the best players spread out.

More tournaments=more competition for best tournament=more money/better conditions for players=constant high-level entertainment for viewers=more exposure to the rest of the world=more funding for tournaments.

Groups like NASL and IPL will continuously stretch their budget as far as it can possibly go, finding many creative solutions to the problem of keeping up with the beast. The beast MLG/GSL, which has an easier time attracting rich sponsors will lure the more outstandingly creative thinkers with larger salaries in an effort to stay ahead of the curve, meaning they will improve as an organization. Or the sponsors will be attracted to the perseverance of the mid-range tournaments and seek to have them fly their banners, meaning creative thinkers get more funding. Either way the outer limits of what the sc2 scene can sustain is going to continue to grow for quite some time, and the best ESPORTS shows on the planet will continue to push the outer limits of presentational quality.

This is a terrible time to ask this question. It has been nearly two weeks since Dreamhack and GSL is nightly. I am glad MLG took the time to let Columbus settle before another MLG. Plenty of time for them to improve the product and for players to prepare. Oh and for Koreans to debate on who will be traveling next. I really don't follow events where the prize pool is under $4,000 USD.

The more tournaments the more money, drama, rivarly, education of the game, the ranking system shows who is on top and that list will grow stronger with years too come. We need an American in the top 10. ;(

There are too many to keep track, but this fact means that the better tournaments with higher production value, prize pool, etc etc. will rise to the top, which can only be a good thing. So, the more the better!

There are definitely a lot of tournaments going on right now, both small and large. As a spectator there is a lot of content that is available for me to see, but I am not interested in all of it. I find it manageable to stay up to date on the tournaments I like and the players I like, along with looking into smaller tournaments that I can participate in.

My only fear is that the scene will grow too quickly and burn itself out. I would rather see a steady increase in tournaments to a point where we stumble upon some sort of equilibrium. All established sports have done this before and so can Starcraft 2 and e-sports. I hope the future turns out great for the community c:

I think this amount is pretty good. There's always something going on, and numerous smaller events in between. I wouldn't mind more, though.

more like too many to pay for. there needs to be a cheaper solution so that people dont have to pay so much money to view the content. no other sports industry charges this much for viewership

the only thing i consistently follow at this point is gsl. I like dreamhack and mlg but theres too many month long tournaments between gsl nasl and ipl. In the end i only watch gsl and mlg

Online tournaments? You could say there's too many, but who'd complain of that? Just lower level of skill for some tournaments when there are several played at once, but it's only good for players' sake

Offline tournaments count is just where it should be. Not enough to make you uninterested but just enough to build a lot of hype for them.

There are way too many, to be honest. There are so many tournaments that they all start to lose their meaning. You're invested in one tournament, and right when it's over there's another one literally a few days away - enough is enough. It gets really hard to follow your favorite players and tournaments when there's stuff always going on - it takes away the intensity and meaning of these tournaments.

Well, there are certainly to many events to keep track off, but this isn't bad according to me. I feel like the more events the better. We need ESPORTS to be big and then we need many events for people to compete in :D
