[Not Quite a]VOTE! TShirt Contest 2009

Gentlemen (and intrigue)!!! The time has come to chose your favorite T-Shirt design!!! There were some great designs submitted and we were all really impressed with the quality and direction that some of you took. Please take a look at the entries below, decide upon your favorite and then VOTE! Get your mom to vote too!
Unfortunately in talking with printmojo, we came across a few issues (specifically with Blith's design) and blizzard artwork so you may notice a few designs missing that would be too difficult to produce even if we wanted to - we might be able to figure out something in the future.
Note: Vote on the DESIGN, not the colors. We can change those when we go to print.

My favourite is probably the two shirts by disciple, and after that I like the one by g0dly. The one that I know a lot of people are going to like, and that I don't like that much is the nortberg one. I dunno, grunge is just so easy to do and not very creative in my opinion. It's also a bit plain in my opinion, doesn't really compare with our previous shirts.

I wouldn't mind wearing 4 disciple polos at once with the collars popped. I actually really like the grunge look (looks good on baby blue...actually everything looks good on baby blue).

trying to decide among deotrip's, exp's, and disciple's polo shirt... I like the contrast in deotrip's. The Korean in exp's adds a nice touch. And the polo shirt just because it's a polo shirt (and the colors look good)!

godly's design is a badass piece of art but i cant see it being on a shirt that i'd wear. the lettering is sick, too. as for ones that i'd wear/pay for, I'd go with sainclaire, exp, deotrip's second design, and maybe nortberg's. all great entries though, i wish i was good with art/design like that :D

Nortberg's is reaaaaally awesome. Though it's a little bit too big, and too centered. I would love it a little smaller and higher. The logo itself is kickass!

I think my favourite might be sainclaire's (I'll look later tonight to decide for sure).
But shouldn't disciple's one t-shirt with the cute horse have the horse in a circle on the other side of the "NET"?

I voted for Nortbergs (but I think it would look so much better on a red shirt^^).
However Disciple's polo looks good too, though a polo would be more expensive of course (especially that it looks good because it has a great cut^^)
I also like Sainclaire's a lot.

Nortberg's design is really unappealing to me, even though I think it's really well done.

I'm kind of dissapointed with the shirts... I want to vote but I cannot find one worthy the message and impact that is teamliquid. Bliths shirt was truly a worthy pick, sadly we can't chose that one. Now, I would vote for nortberg because it's a neat shirt... but I don't think tl.net has alot associated with a butchered horse head. Gj though all.

Actually I voted for g0dly. Nothing against nortberg, but I'm not digging that design AT ALL. It looks soooooo much like EVERY SHIRT THAT EVER CAME OUT OF THE 90'S.
Not to mention it can easily be interpreted as a horse with its head cut off, and as much as I like the godfather, I really don't want that on a shirt.

Nice entries, its a shame I can only pick one. I went with sainclare's design but nortberg's is awesome too, and i also like the conservative looks of jhNz's shirt (and I love the typography on g0dly's one.) Tough poll

I think this poll is skewed from having a strong contender (nortberg) at the top... it's easy to skip over the ones that come later.
I propose that what this poll needs is Group Phases followed by head to head elimination rounds. This is, after all, TeamLiquid.
(Also, while nortberg is damn good art, I have a little experience with printing shirts and something with this many shades always ends up looking messy when it starts to fade after a few washes. Less colors, less and cleaner lines work much better on shirts.)

My favorite published TL shirt is still the first one, I really like the subtle starcraft references. So going by this I quite liked Exp's design the best. Although I wouldn't mind wearing like half of them in public.

his is the only design i'd actually wear in public. the rest emphasize the horse too much, people will be confused as to what it is, at least exp's hints that it's a starcraft site because of the logo, which will be instantly recognizable to starcraft players.

I really like Disciple's Polo design the most, but I don't like his other shirt. I like deotrips second design, but it's clearly the graphic from the Deftones album "White Pony"
so I disqualified it from myself. So I voted for nortberg, though I kinda think "sloppy splashy cool guy UFC skulls and stuff" shirt design is getting kinda played out.

I have a feeling it's going to be very close between the top 3. I personally love Sainclaire's shirt, it looks very proffesional, very great choice of colors on the shirt too, I also love Disciple's shirt, it is adorable.

I absolutely love the idea of the thought bubble, and I like that it has the shape of the starcraft order icons. Also it isn't too in your face. And I like the korean letters.

jhNz, nortbertg or EXP are the viable ones in my opinion. The teamliquid letters on nortbertgs shirt need some stylization. I like the concept of EXPs but I don't think it would look great on a shirt because of its squareness.

shame I totally forgot about this, I could have put my design superpowers and extraordinary creative skills into good use.
sainclaire has got my vote, could have used a different horse silhouette and a slightly bolder font type, one thats more in your face but I like it nontheless its really slick and well done overall. Its also very suitable for a team style shirt, meaning you should consider how it would look with like 10 people all wearing them at the same place.
nortbertg's I'm not so crazy about, I feel its a bit overkill on the grunge/splatter brushes and the text is inappropriate plus I think it wouldn't look any good on a bunch of people wearing it at once, also different colour variations wouldn't be that great either I think. Please don't take any offence I'm merely giving my humble and honest opinion, obviously other people like it and think its the best so what do I know anyway :p.
I also love Exp Design's concept and I think deotrip's entry would dramatically improve if different shirt/design colours were used.

I had that idea initially, but it felt too cluttered, I ended up making a zerg, terran, and protoss version separately. There are lots of good designs in this poll though, and I think a lot of them would make awesome t shirts regardless.

I think Exp's is wonderful. There are a couple others I would buy as well.

Being fond of simplicity I found myself torn between the designs of Exp and Sainclaire. Sainclaire received my vote because their design embodies what I envision a bold pro-gaming shirt to look like. I greatly appreciate the modest design Exp provided but I'd enjoy it more if it were used as a patch or shirt-sleeve emblem rather than the main artwork and focal point on an article of clothing.

exp's the most thoughtful one imo
It blends both krn and the foreign aspect of TL and also down plays the seriousness of the horse... nortberg's is too friggin serious and makes out TL like it's just a some sort of horse fanatic club.
Exp's combines StarCraft along with its respective fan base AND the badly needed iconic horse!
+1 for Exp, win this and I will buy TL's shirt.

If no design gets a majority, I believe a runoff between the top two designs would be nice. I'm personally having a tough time narrowing it down to my top between 2, and if a lot of people are the same way, the votes will be split between similarly designed shirts. Any poll with more than 2 choices should probably go to a runoff, as the results will often better suit the masses than a plurality vote.

Nortbertg's is pretty cool. A bit grungy, but not too bad.
deotrip's 1st design looks awesome, the second is a little too blase for me.
disciple's looks a bit.. I dunno... just not the essence I'd like in TL, but it's well designed.
exp's is good.
g0dly's took me a minute to see properly, but I like it.
sainclaire's looks like a pro uniform shirt.

I would wear (and hence buy) deotrip's second, disciples second (or the first without the lower part), either of exp's (prefer the second), sainclair's, and maybe jhnz's (if it was in a non-white color and smaller).
I definitely like exp's and sainclair's the best. I also notice that the designs I would buy are all 'cleaner:' somewhat more conservative/professional/simpler looking, nicer fonts, etc. The ones I wouldn't are mostly 'louder:' larger emblems, soft edges, more noticeable designs. This is one of the reasons I thought we should have a runoff, but after reading more posts I'm starting to think 2 shirts would be best. Some people prefer a shirt that is subtle, and some people prefer a more obvious, "ask me what teamliquid is" shirt.

You know I think the top 3 are all great... There are some people that will clearly only wear Exps shirt, and there are tons of people that would never put on the Nortburgs shirt, and some that really like Sainclaire's shirt too. (me!)

I think Sainclaire's looks the best to actually wear in public. I liked disciple's pony picture the best but the rest of the shirt is just kind of meh. I just really hope that nortbertg's doesn't win, it stands out way too much and there is just something I don't like about a decapitated horse head. >.>
And does anyone else think Winning's horse looks exactly like that fire-horse pokemon?
Actually, I just looked up the pokemon on google images after writing this and it seems like he used the exact rapidash model from this page and changed the flames a little. o.O

I don't think a poll will cut it, even if we restrict it to users only. We'll either figure out a better way of gauging interest or just arbitrarily decide on a design. Last time we ended up (eventually) using two of the designs, and there's no reason we can't do that again.

As a man with good sence of art i can definetly say that you must choose between first two: deotrip Design and nortbertg Design.
Nortbertg Design is the most solid and stylish, but you must choose very right colores to make it look good.
Deotrip Design have very good stylish horse picture, but legend must be reworked to suit style of picture.
If you make horse picture a bit larger and change legend style it can probably be the best choise.

And about Sainclaire's design. It is already finished, that is why it may look a bit better than others variants in current form. But you must remember that you choosing design, not the final look. Sainclaire's t-shirt can not be better than it looks now, while Deotrip Design with some upgrades and in finished form can became MUCH better.
Sainclaire's variant really takes small part of t-shirt, it is too easy going and looks kinda cheap. Yes it is nice, probably good, but not very good.

Thanks, oh man I would kill for one of those. There has to be some shops somewhere that could make them with the patches and all. Probably would be pretty expensive and we would have to pay up front for it to work, but its definitely worth the effort to get a Jersey and a shirt.
We would have to vote on what type of material also. I'm thinking something like polyester. Something durable and soft. I'd pay 90$ for one. Not sure what others would be willing to or could afford to.

mehh, I dont need a t-shirt to boost my manliness. Imagine InC or Mani with a t-shirt of Cannibal Corpse - they will scare kids...there is nothing badass about that. Besides the problem with the uniform style shirt is that it makes you look nerdy. As cool as it is, you dont see a lot of guys hanging out in the university or at work with soccer t-shirts. The polo shirt is universal - you can wear it everywhere, everyday, looking good and tidy

I like sainclaire's then g0dly's The rest are really solid too though. Its too bad about Blith's shirts which were really awesome.
