This includes non-StarCraft related voting campaigns (vote for my friend in this contest!) I've seen a lot of posts where people ask TL to win the internet by helping so and so win a poll. Is this no longer cool? Was it ever cool? | ||

If your A/V club is trying to outvote your girl's basketball club for front page honours of the school newspaper, it is not cool. All rules are open to interpretation, but TL has a tendency to snowball on things. This gives us the leeway to nip things in the bud. | ||

He had in that thread 3 or 4 posts with no connection to topic at all ;o (except the one, where he asked about what all users saw in the first post... later there he said he knew that, so what was a purpose? +1 in stats? dunno). Anyway with so many members, it could be a great idea to make sth like "report this post to moderators/admins" with reason and who reported (just to be sure no spam here, if someone gonna make fun in that). | ||

General forum etiquette that most people who are veterans of frankly, the internet, let alone forums should know, but still sadly needs to be said, as alot of people are just idiots and will act however they please, though in this case, they've been prewarned and will thus be promptly banned. | ||

Although I think the "good porn" part in section 4 is a bit immature, you might want to remove it. Oh and about veterans posting, I'm not sure exactly who qualifies as a veteran but some people *cough* Paper *cough* don't seem to be able to post anything worthwhile, and do the "lol" and "+1" posts all the time. I get the part about being lenient towards forum veterans, but shouldn't they also set the standards a bit and post in acceptable ways? Btw the inControl girlfriend thing is alright imo, but are people also supporting her "campaign" with money on the forurms? In exchange they will see swimsuit pictures. I think this one is a bit iffy and it seems like inControl is using this website pretty hard. I mean voting is one thing but have people you don't know send money in order to see hot pics of your girlfriend...there's something morally wrong with the whole thing. | ||

Remember: we ban little kids all the time because they sign on thinking they can say and do whatever they want to whomever they want right from the get-go - just like they're used to doing at other sites. That attitude won't work here. That's a promise. As far as new users are concerned (i.e. anyone with less than 1000 or so quality posts to their name), this site is Holy Ground. The veterans are the users who've consistently shown respect to the site and to others and that's why they're still here. Show them some respect. In practice, this policy means a user who has thousands of posts may be able to get away with a few minor transgressions in etiquette with just a warning. If you're at 50 posts and you try the same kind of stunt, then we may just ban you. Harsh? Yes. Unfair? Most definitely. But that's the way life is. Learn to live with it. This also means you should think twice before calling that guy with 5000+ posts a jackass. If the guy's been with us that long, chances are YOU'RE the one being an idiot. Some battles are just not worth fighting - just move on."
